When this sushi restaurant reopened under new management, it quickly became my go-to sushi spot. Since April alone, I've spent nearly $1000 here I know because their "loyalty program" is 1 point for every dollar spent and I'm about there. I've referred my staff, friends, and family. I genuinely enjoy supporting local Upland businesses, which makes writing this review disappointing. The two stars I'm giving are solely for the food quality and presentation. The food is bomb, there's no denying that. My issue is strictly with the customer service. I've dined here 18 times, and at least a quarter of those visits have involved some kind of unpleasant experience. Unfortunately, I'm basing this review not just on tonight's visit, but on a pattern of inconsistent and disappointing service. That doesn't even include my to-go orders, where I've had soup spilled throughout the bag and missing items. Never did I "complain", until tonight. Tonight, our table ordered four AYCE, one of which was a child, but she's tall so they count her as an adult. Additionally, my 5-year-old niece only had a cup of rice à la carte and table water. When the bill came, there was a $30 service fee. I politely asked the waitress about it, and the supervisor immediately stepped in and rudely said it was because they "serviced five people." I explained that my niece only had rice and water, but he insisted it didn't matter because they still "serviced her". The problem is, we barely received any service. No one refilled our water or checked on us, which we were going to place a to go order, but nobody came, and the couple beers my husband had was because he flagged someone down. The waitress's only interaction was when I explained this to her and she responded, "Are you ready to pay or need more time?" We always tip appropriately, even when the service isn't great, so being forced to pay a $30 service fee for a child who only had an à la carte cup of rice and table water, especially when the service was minimal, doesn't ethically sit right. I then asked to redeem my loyalty points because I didn't intend on coming back, and she said her supervisor had to call the manager because they didn't know how to do it. She said no one had ever redeemed points for the AYCE before. Well, that told me I've been a loyal customer, and yet, they were willing to lose my business over a $30 fee that should not have been charged. This was never about the money, it was about how the situation was handled. There have been plenty of times when the service wasn't great, and I never expressed my dissatisfaction. But now you're going to charge me a mandatory service fee for minimal service? That makes no sense to me. A simple explanation and a one-time courtesy waiver would have gone a long way. Instead, the interaction felt dismissive and made it clear that customer loyalty isn't valued. read more

My first time here and won't be the last! Pricing is very affordable for sushi AYCE and service was great! The server was attentive and empty plates were taken away quickly AND water was filled without asking. They were busy on a Friday evening but that didn't stop them from providing good service and bringing out the food quickly. Sushi was pretty fresh but they didn't have a wide variety of the nigiri. The seating is okay, the AC absolutely needs to be running, and order timing should be refined. It says under new management and the cracks are showing. Victor was friendly and helpful. The staff was cool and they had a variety of rolls to choose from. I enjoyed the Tuna and Albacore Carpaccios with chili crunch, but you can only order 1 each per person and they arrive with 4, not 5 pieces as the menu states. Sushi Takumi is located in a strip mall with plenty of free parking shared among the surrounding businesses. There is ample seating inside with plenty of staff to keep things moving efficiently. We were pleased with the variety of items they had on their menu, especially in terms of sushi. Some of our favorite items included the Strawberry Cheesecake roll (always love mango in my sushi) and the Seared Salmon sushi. To be honest, the sushi was really good. The kitchen items, however, were hit and miss. The Korean Fried Chicken with accompanying sauce was tasty. The pork belly left a lot to be desired as it was overcooked and dry. We agreed that we would likely skip out on any kitchen items next time we stop by. Sushi Takumi was priced right with a product that, more than justified what we ate. Visited this restaurant on August 23, 2026 during their happy hour which is from open until 3pm. I think the price during their happy hour is $29.99 per person. It was filled with a lot of people and died down a bit after 3pm. We ordered the All You Can Eat (AYCE) menu and was able to put our orders in through our phone. The sushi rolls come in half orders, 4 pieces, so it's easier to try different rolls. There's also a KBBQ section, we tried the bulgogi and pork belly. The bulgogi didn't taste great, so I'd recommend to not get that. The pork belly was actually good and would recommend to try that once just to taste it. We ordered a bunch of different rolls and they all tasted great, especially the fusion ones. Towards the end of our ordering, I think our order was getting lost in the kitchen as the waitress checked on us 3 times and we kept letting her know we were still waiting on our last order. After the final time, we just asked for the check since we were pretty much full anyway. Due to the slow service, our waitress offered us to go cups of drinks we had ordered with our meal, so that was very nice! The takoyaki pieces were cooked beautifully and tasted great. The mussels weren't piping hot and tasted amazing. The nigiri had the perfect fish:rice ratio.
