I have been coming to Sushi One Spot for over 5 years, and it is incredibly disappointing to see what this restaurant has become since Joyce took over. My family has spent thousands of dollars here over the years. We would come 2-3 times a month and easily spend $100+ each visit. Unfortunately, my last FOUR visits have been terrible, and today was the final straw. Today I brought four additional people with me because this was once a restaurant I loved and recommended. Instead, I was completely embarrassed by how we were treated. Joyce tossed/threw straws at our table, brought out Dr Peppers and waters, and immediately told us that "the rules" were that we couldn't share sodas. Nobody said we were sharing sodas. The assumption, attitude, and way she spoke to us were completely unnecessary. The situation became so uncomfortable and humiliating that our entire group got up and walked out without eating. What bothers me most is that I have continued giving this restaurant chances because I've been a loyal customer for so many years. After four bad experiences, I'm done. You don't treat longtime paying customers this way--especially customers who have supported your business consistently for 5+ years and are bringing NEW customers through your doors. The minute we walked in to this restaurant, we did not feel welcomed. It was 12:04pm, 4 minutes after they opened for business. They were not busy. Only three tables were occupied. Two different staff members saw us waiting by the front and no one acknowledged us. After standing around and ignored for about 5 minutes, we were finally seated. We haven't been here in a while and the pricing structure has changed. Now, there are four levels of AYCE pricing. It ranges from $21.95 to $47.95. We did the AYCE $21.95 meal. It includes appetizers, salads and special rolls. Each table has an electronic ordering device. We place the order on the electronic device and the food gets delivered to our table. The quality of sushi was just okay. It was not high quality sushi. We did not liked having so much sauce on top of our sushi rolls. We prefer to be able to taste the raw fish without all that sauce on it. The pictures on the menu screen/device does not show sauce on the roll. But when it arrives, the rolls are covered with various sauces. Only a few of the rolls were not covered in sauces. I thought the tempuras were the worst. I did not liked the batter. This is the best sushi value I've ever seen and I highly recommend you come try their tasting ayce on a weekday. They also have a wide array of appetizers you can get, and all the ones we got (katsu, teriyaki chicken, miso soup, etc.) were all very good. The standouts by far are the nigiri, which are very fresh and have a great rice to fish ratio. The service here is also very quick and our server was very welcoming and attentive. Today we went to go eat at this restaurant because we heard it was a very good spot from my daughter while there soon as we sat down The Manager Joyce came up to us and let us know that there's a 18% gratitude fee on tables with six or more. It was the first thing she told us when we sat down she explained to us the all you can eat at the same time she asked us what we were having to drink. I let her know that my husband was having a water and I was having a Dr Pepper because he does not like to drink soda while eating sushi when she came back. She brought over six Dr Pepper's that nobody ordered or asked for when we told her what were all these sodas she told us that we were not allowed to share soda, which we had no clue what she was talking about so when we told her we did not order all these sodas she got mad and threw the straw down towards my husband. It was very embarrassing. I felt like from the moment we got there she treated us like she didn't think we could afford to eat there mind you we just came back from Palmsprings from a long weekend and just felt like eating sushi. Also she was making faces at us while talking towards us. I just feel like she's very racist. We are Hispanic and I feel like in her mind. At this point this is when they tell me that they FORGOT to put the order in the system. I understand that it can get busy but to keep me waiting in the store for almost 30 minutes and still not have the food ready is crazy. When I finally got my order and I check it-- it's missing 2 items in the order l o l. I wouldn't recommend this place. they told me that the order mishap was due to the system confusing them. Sounds like the system needs fixing. The employees were very nice and handled everything the best they could. I normally don't leave negative reviews, but what happened today was ridiculous. I've been coming here with my family for years, and the way we were treated today was enough for our entire group to get up and leave. We came in with a larger group expecting to have dinner and have a good time. Instead, Joyce immediately made us feel uncomfortable and unwelcome. She tossed straws at the table and then, while bringing out drinks, started telling us that we weren't allowed to share sodas. It was the attitude and the way we were spoken to from the moment we sat down. Joyce lost a table that was prepared to spend around $350 plus an 18% tip over a $4 soda. That makes absolutely no sense. Joyce, if you read this, do better. This restaurant has changed dramatically under your management, and not for the better. I've watched the service here change dramatically, and today's experience was easily the worst. We hadn't even gotten to enjoy our meal before everyone decided we'd rather leave than spend our money somewhere we were being treated disrespectfully. We came in ready to pay for a table full of people. We walked out instead. After being customers here for years, that's extremely disappointing. Imma give 5-stars just because the overall experience was well worth it. If you have $100, you can feed three people with the basic all-you-can eat menu. You don't even have to buy the $47 Premium menu, the basic $32 menu will pretty much give you access to 50+ or so items including side dishes. Best of all, you don't have to worry about "rounds" or writing things on a piece of paper. You can just order everything via the touchscreen on your table. Just tap on the picture, submit the order, and the servers will come by in like 5-10 minutes. And you just keep doing that until your 1 hour 30 minute time limit is done. It's so convenient. Keep in mind that they don't serve sashimi. They only have nigiri and rolls, plus other appetizers. That's the reason why their prices are cheaper. Quality wise? The nigiris are pretty good. They're not like "premium-authentic sushi from Tokyo" good, but they're still very good for the price. Appetizers are also included in the menu at no extra charge. They recently eliminated gratuity charge, so you can just add the tip later in the check, which is a big thumbs up for me. I'd give this 4-stars if the service was mediocre. We went last night and did our usual damage but we noticed some changes that would've been nice to know before ordering. They now only bring out 1 piece of nigiri per order -- us only knowing our previous way of them bringing 2 pieces per order we were a little confused when we got our first round.
