Crunch Scallop Roll
L E.

Outside dining in the patio on a cool summer evening. Enjoyed the Philadelphia roll & garlic edamame. Didn't care for the crunchy scallop, for the scallop itself was hard & too crunchy, it tasted like fish sticks to me. The hand roll sans the scallop was fine. The peach green tea was refreshing. Friendly staff. Came to check on us every now & then.

Came here for a group dinner with friends. Was a little worried about the size of the restaurant because we were a group of 9 but they were able to seat us outside. Didn't mind seating outside since the weather was nice. The rolls were bigger than what I'm used to. So you're definitely paying for good quality food. Also drank the Yuzu Highball but it was watered down so won't be ordering that again and will try for another drink. I forgot our server's name but he was great. Kept checking up on us and made the overall dinner experience very pleasant.

Food: Food was a 5/5! Fresh with large portions. I order the sashimi salad, spicy edamame, and large miso soup. Hubby order spicy tuna rolls and vegetable tempura. The edamame was real spicy and heavy with garlic, just like I like it! Service: 4/5. Started off a little slow. About a 10 minute delay before they took our order. The sushi chef had to flag down the hostess for us. Ambience: pretty small and tight, but clean and cozy. We sat at the bar. Overall, I can see why this restaurant is highly rated. We will be back and give another chance on the service.

It was a smaller site with wall to wall people- so we had to sit at the bar. Initially we had to wait 10 minutes and we weren't helped and the sushi chef asked us Were we ready- he then summoned the waitress. This part wasn't too cool, but idk ‍ Watching the sushi chefs cook was a treat and they were polite and friendly. We had some good items and the food here is great ! We had an Asahi beer, the spicy garlic Edemame, veggie tempura, spicy tuna rolls, a soup and a Sashimi salad- very tasty food!!

I have driven past Kazama Sushi at Village Plaza in Claremont on many occasions. I would say to myself, I'm going to eat there one fine day. Well, that fine day has arrived. I was on a solo date with moi. Love to dine with self always! Staff was very welcoming upon entry. Service was top-notch throughout the evening. I went all out on my dining experience. I couldn't resist, but to order the best sushi rolls, sushi + ramen bowls, and iced green tea. Let's just say I was hungry LOL. Everything was amazing! Seaweed salad was the best I've ever had. Between the two sushi rolls, I enjoyed the Carribean Roll more. I think it was the sweet onion that put it over the top. TASTY! Chirashi Bowl had fresh fishes in good cuts. YUM! Ramen Bowl had savory broth and tender chashu pork with all my favorite toppings. DELISH! Refreshing Iced Green Tea was in a large glass. YAY! I dined liked a queen. I would do it again. Of course, I had to pack the leftovers to-go plus order some to-go for my daughters. Overall dining experience was wonderful. Definitely would come back again. If you haven't tried Kazama Sushi, add it to your list to try. Dine-In: *Seaweed Salad - marinated seaweed with sesame oil & seed *Carribean Roll - In: spicy crab meat, avocado, cucumber/ Out: salmon, lemon, sweet onion, cilantro with sweet sauce and cilantro sauce *Old Town Roll - In: crab stick, shrimp tempura, avocado/ Out: seared salmon belly, sprouts, garlic ponzu, tobiko *Chirashi Bowl - Chef's select fishes over sushi rice *Miso Ramen Bowl - Japanese ramen noodle soup with chashu pork, egg, corn, ginger, green onion & seaweed *Iced Green Tea To-Go: *Chirashi Bowl *Miso Ramen Bowl Btw, free parking can be found at the nearby parking garage or on the streets. You may enter this restaurant from the front entrance or the back doors. Besides inside seating, limited outside seating is available near the back entrance.

The waiter was really nice and very professional. I ate out on the patio area. It was a perfect day. Very wheelchair accessible setting, as long as you don't need the restroom. Food choices: Eel hand roll and grilled salmon salad. The grilled salmon on the salad was cooked to perfection. The salad was baby mixed greens with a ginger dressing. I recommend asking them to serve salmon on a separate plate. Very tasty dish. The eel roll was not my favorite. The eel was mushy and flavorless, it was overcooked. The sweet ponzu helped a bit but not enough. The rice was over cooked as well, it was gummy and soft. I only ate three pieces of my roll. The iced tea come in giant mason jars and it was refreshing. Overall I will eat here again for the quality grilled salmon and maybe a bento dinner.

This is without a doubt my favorite sushi spot in all of the IE, potentially even Southern California. It's locally run with a wonderful staff who welcome you the moment you walk through the door. The sushi is delicious and fresh, and portions are large for the price. I've enjoyed everything I've ever ordered from their extensive menu. They have a cute outdoor patio and casual atmosphere that's welcome to families or a date night.

Service took awhile and they forgot one of our order. We're already done eating and my daughter already losing her appetite only then her food came. Spicy tuna jalapeño was good though.

Three friends decides to grab lunch after pickleball. So they pick Kazama Sushi, which has been around for a long time according to my friends. Service is quick and pretty good since it's mostly running by 2 people. I ordered lunch special set of tonkatsu and mixed tempura. Tonkatsu is slightly too dry, and mixed tempura too. Portions are really generous. Taste is good. I also try a piece of my friend's soft shell sushi - it's good size and tastes yummy. The vibe is very traditional Japanese restaurant. It's right at Claremont village area so parking could be a bit difficult.

So late on this review but I went here a month ago, the sushi was so fresh! Our waitress suggested to my friend and I the seared salmon nigiri with chili oil on it since she saw that we liked salmon. We ordered it and oh my god she was soo right. SEARED SALMON NIGIRI WITH CHILI OIL--ended up being our favorite and it was so delishhh.

Good quality sushi at a nice neighborhood spot in Claremont. They have both inside and outside seating. We sat outside as the weather was a perfect. Service was fast and the staff was very accommodating. We had some appetizers (garlic edamame and salmon collar), a couple of rolls (dragon and spider) and then some sushi (fatty tuna, salmon belly, and uni). All great quality. Overall 5 stars.

Always such a fabulous experience. We usually sit outside since we bring our fur baby and each time the service is great. Sushi is always fresh and delicious!

Super yummy spot!! We got the sashimi salad and dinner combo platter. the salad was very filling for me and the platter was perfect for my boyfriend. the fish is so fresh! The service here is fantastic!! Super nice and they make you feel well taken care of. The restaurant is on the louder side and packed inside. The outside seating has heaters for the colder nights. Will definitely come back to this spot.

Been craving pizza lately and fortunately for me Pizza N Such happened to be in the area I was…read moregoing to! A friend and I ordered the Bee Kind pizza on their Mini Monday special which is a 6x6 Detroit style pizza, a side of onion rings, and a couple of IPAs to wash it all down with. I've never had Detroit style pizza mainly because it never really interested me (not a fan of thick doughy pizza) and I already know based on the "real" Detroit style pizzas that I've seen, this isn't that. In fact, it was thinner than I expected but no complaints here. Anyway, it was absolutely bangin'. Big bold flavors that jump out and is very rich. This pizza satisfied my craving for SURE. The 6x6 sounded a lot bigger on paper, but it was actually pretty small when it came out. It's a good snack for 2 people, but for 1 person it would definitely be filling. Their onion rings were FIRE. Seriously. Some of the best onion rings I've had in a long time. Very well seasoned breading and perfectly cooked. The breading was crispy, but not crunchy. I love craggly, thick onion rings, but sometimes those do a number on the roof of your mouth. These? I could eat 'em all day. Service was great although it did kinda take a little too long for the food to come out, but I guess it was worth the wait. I love the inside of the space too. It's an old building with some character to it. I will definitely be back!

And to my surprise no pesto, lack of pesto flavor/sauce. What revived, the pizza was adding pepper flakes(gave it flavor). Chicken Parm was a 5/10 was decent enough for me to finish! All in all good service, and pretty seating. I will however not come again.

We were fine with it, and were given two menus and told to sit anywhere we wanted. After 15 minutes, no servers had come out to take drink orders or anything, so my boyfriend went inside to ask if someone could come take our order. I looked around the patio area and realized there were two other tables whose patrons were there before us, waiting for drinks and service, just like we were. One of them was fanning herself with the menu, as it was close to 100° outside. (There are no misters on the patio, just a slight breeze now and then. And, if you sit near the patio entrance, you should know that the huge dryer vents from the adjacent hotel are pushing hot air into the patio.) My boyfriend came back and said that he was told "someone will be out soon", and he noticed that all the servers were watching the soccer game inside. We waited another minute or so, and decided to leave and find another place for lunch. We were so glad we left...we ended up at Gus's BBQ across the way, and OMG...save yourself the trouble of the weak menu & non-existent service at The Back Abbey and walk over to Gus's. You won't regret it!

The seltzers here are delicious and that's crazy for me to say because when I think of seltzers, I think of disgusting Trulys or White Claws. I hate seltzers because it's like a can of carbonated water with one atom of flavor. Vile. Anyway, I am happy to report that that is *not* the case here. I could seriously toss back a bunch of these because they taste (and look) great! I had to order the Mega Man themed seltzer as a Mega Man fan (well, Mega Man X). It was blueberry lemonade and a nice blue color. I also ordered the Spyro one too, but not because I'm a fan of Spyro. I'm just a sucker for anything strawberry. Both were excellent! I also had an IPA which was honestly really good too. Regarding game play it's $10 per person for unlimited play. Although, it sounded like it was for both my friend and I at first until I paid. That's when I realized it's per person. Anyway, still great value considering how much money I would've shoved into House of the Dead 1 and 1943. The space is pretty small though. Wish they had maybe a few more games to choose from, but overall it was a great experience! I work in area exactly like where Level Up is located. They've got indoor and outdoor seating and they seemed a touch understaffed for being a beautiful day. It was also a Tuesday lunchtime so maybe they weren't expecting it to be as busy as it was. We were able to prove the menu before we got seated. And our super friendly server came out and we were able to order right away. They've got a lunch special. That is a small personal pizza with a salad and we each got that. Salads came out first and I had the arugula salad, which was absolutely phenomenal. 10 of 10 would eat this every single day. The arugula was peppery and it was well dressed in a lemon vinaigrette type sauce. I am a fan of just plain lemon on mine, but this was delicious. My husband got a union salad, which is their specialty I guess. It's got colored carrots and some beets and some shallots. I thought the dressing was bland and it certainly needed salt and pepper. We asked for both and didn't get either. Our pieces came out and they were nice and woodfired. I feel like they could've been done just a little bit longer maybe a minute or two. The sauce was a lovely fresh type crushed tomato sauce. The cheese was nice and gooey and did not feel or taste like a package of processed cheese. Pepperonis were greasy, but in a real meat kind of way. I had to dab mine, but my husband just went to town on his. The pickled peppers is a pickled jalapeño. Big chunks of them. They certainly didn't skimp on any of the toppings. They were a little sweet and a little hot. Some of the big chunks were a little too sweet for my liking but overall, it was a nice flavor mix Also from a size standpoint, I thought the salad and pizza were very adequate for lunch at around $20 price point I asked for salt and pepper again as well as a side of ranch. This time we did get the salt and pepper as well as cheese and crushed red pepper. But we didn't get the ranch until we were leaving. The server did apologize and said he thought someone else was bringing it out but I pretty much deducted a star because we asked for a couple different things that never came.
