I was craving a spicy tuna roll (my go to roll) after groceries so I tried out this location . It's definitely deceiving . It looks like it's small but there's plenty of seating inside . The roll was about $8 and I was pleasantly surprised . The spicy tuna seems to be made with chili oil which gives it a little extra kick. Went during lunch time on a Friday afternoon and it was very quiet and peaceful. Service was good as it wasn't busy we didn't have to wait at all for anything. We had two of the spicy ramens with the California roll and the tuna roll. Not a huge fan of the ramen, as it does seem like it's cup of noodle ramen not fresh korean ramen. I've eaten here quite a few times, I remember first coming in 2019! Fast forward 7 years later and I still am a happy customer. I love their dinosaur roll, spicy tuna roll, spicy california roll (a classic) and let me not forget the taco sushi!. I went to Sake Sake 2 in Upland last night and watched something that honestly made my stomach turn. The owner was publicly scolding a waitress in front of everyone, and even grabbed her wrist like she was a child. It was beyond uncomfortable to watch. The table next to us noticed too and told her she was doing an amazing job because it was clear she didn't deserve that treatment from the man who was clearly the owner. I quietly asked her if she at least gets to keep her tips, she said no with a face that said so much more So just know, when you tip at this place, none of it goes to the hardworking staff actually serving you, which in california is technically illegal. I don't usually post things like this, but people should know when a business mistreats its employees. No one deserves to be humiliated or have their hard work taken from them. Came here after a day of shopping and we were sure glad we did. The staff speak Japanese which is a good sign. We were greeted and shown to our table right away. The restaurant had a good size menu and it took us awhile before we ordered. What we did order tasted really good and was very large portions. We ordered sashimi plate - it was very fresh and the pieces were large. We also had a few rolls - rainbow roll, salmon avocado x2, and eel roll. All the rolls were a good size - sorry no pix as we gobbled it up. We also ordered 2 bento boxes - one with beef bulgogi and california roll and the other chicken teriyaki and tempura. Both boxes were so huge that we couldn't finish. And they were really good too. Staff were super friendly and helpful. It looks like dine in is until 930p while togo is until 1230a. My only complaint was being seated next to a nightmare child blasting a violent cartoon on their iPad while simultaneously playing a video game with sound on, and their Karen mom being rude to staff. Throughout the years I've tried to give this additional chances, but I think they just got the absolutely last chance out of me. On my last visit I got the philly roll, eel roll, baked mussels and yellowtail collar. Both rolls were fat like burritos and with too much rice. The rolls fell apart as soon as you picked them up. Quality was even worst than when they served all you can eat. The eel roll had so much sauce that the rice was completely soaked in it and the eel itself was barely there. The baked mussels were the okay-est of the items ordered. The mussels were not fresh, which is fine... but there were a few chipped mussels that can be dangerous if you aren't careful. The yellowtail collar... absolutely burnt and inedible. It was so sadly dry. I was so disappointed because yellowtail collar is one of my favorites. It's suppose to be moist and fatty but all I can taste is burnt. The waitress was nice enough to remove it from my tab since I couldn't eat it. Front of the house staff was nice but the chefs have room for improvement. This is the first time I was at a sushi restaurant with Chinese sushi chefs. I live in Hawaii so sushi is very big for us! This place did not disappoint! Walked in at lunch time with no reservation and got seated right away. Their menu is very large and I think usually (before COVID) they have an all you can eat option but that was not available when we were there. We were able to get hot green tea AND cold green tea to start. The sushi was very good and it came out pretty fast. This is not a fancy sushi place you would take someone on the first date.. lol.. but a great small hole in the wall place for good sushi for any night of the week! read more
