Omakase here was great! Our waitress explained what everything was, and every single bite was delicious. They were great with timing and bringing things out. Super cozy vibes in there. Went around 8:00 pm on a Monday night and there was plenty of street parking

The counter omakase experience was worth every penny! Each piece was carefully put together by our sushi chef and explained to us. I had a hard time remembering each specific name, but I can tell you that the taste for each item was incredible! So fresh and just melts in your mouth! There were a couple of creative items that were unique to the chef, and the dessert was also so delicious! I cannot tell you my favorite, but the handroll, the dessert, and a pate item was definitely up there for me! The ambiance is perfect for a special celebration with a small party, though I think you can have a large party if you reserve in advance? (Don't quote me on that.) Reservations are highly encouraged here to get the best experience. This is a location I'm 100% coming back to, as their omakase is very decently priced, and top notch quality! Thank you for the amazing experience, Sushi Tama!

Came here on a weeknight. The restaurant has a minimalist, modern vibe that's comfortable and not overly fancy. The restaurant wasn't too busy so we were seated right away. Instead of going with the omakase we decided to order a mix of items to try a bit of everything. We started with the aburi toro which was really good, fatty and delicious with the yuzu kosho cutting through. The hotate isobe style, torched scallops wrapped in seaweed, was another highlight of the night. For nigiri we tried hirame, aji, nodoguro, salmon, kohada, scallop, and akami. Everything was good, though the nodoguro stood out as the favorite for its flavor and torching. We also got the sanshoku don which came with about seven pieces of sashimi on top. The fish was a little thin and the amount of rice was a lot, even for someone who can eat. The ratio felt off and I found myself eating big spoonfuls of rice just to make a dent. Overall it's a nice spot for a date with decent sushi, but I wasn't blown away considering the price point. When pieces are $10+ each, I expect a bit more than what we got. Glad I tried it and I'd come back again, but not in a rush.

Finally!! After 5 long years coming here for lunch. I finally got to try Chef Yoshimoto omakase for my birthday and it didn't disappoint one bit. Chef Omakase 18 course including miso soup and dessert. The price is very reasonable, especially in this area. All the fish that was served were all fresh. Nothing that I haven't tried before but that didn't bother me at all. Every cut was delicious and well executed. Chef shari ( sushi rice ) was fantastic and perfectly season. Here were some of the highlights from the omakase. Seared Kamasu ( Barracuda) Sashimi Snow Crab Chawanmushi Kinki Nigiri Kohada Nigiri Otoro Nigiri Anago Nigiri As always service was outstanding and professional. Chef Yoshimoto was very cool and friendly to talk to during our dinner. Overall I highly recommend trying out Sushi Tama Omakase. I'll definitely be doing it again. Thanks Chef!

Your typical minimalist omakase vibes with good quality sushi. Went on a weekend for dinner - would be wise to book reservations as it seemed to get pretty crowded. Parking is a bit annoying - there's a small amount of street parking, but likely you will need to park in the underground garage (and I don't recall them validating). Was sat immediately - was curious about the omakase for the day but did ask what sort of fish would be included and the restaurant wouldn't specify - so we opted to order à la carte instead. Ordered various typical nigiri sushi, a few seasonal pieces, as well as a crab handroll. The fish quality was good - I did enjoy the crab handroll and toro pieces quite a bit. The uni was ok - not as rich as I'd hope - but could be the season (the visit was in September). Reason for the rating: We asked a few times for water, to order additional food, and the check - so that dampened the vibe - the servers acknowledged us each time, but seems they were rushed to do some other things and forget about us. Additionally, it is a bit pricey for what we got - the quality was good, but think there's a "Beverly Hills tax" applied. I wouldn't recommend to go out of your way to visit - but if you are around the area and want good sushi, this isn't a bad spot.

I popped into here for lunch and was immediately impressed by the warm welcome--the staff here is truly exceptional. I started with my usual favorite, the A5 Wagyu sashimi. It was absolutely sublime, melting on the tongue with that signature rich, buttery finish. A perfect 5/5 start, as always. Next, I had nigiri though I'm ngl, I was expecting more sashimi. I ordered two pieces of hamachi (yellowtail), the least fatty tuna, and the medium fatty tuna (I avoid the full toro). I also had the salmon nigiri. The fish was undeniably fresh and tasty, but honestly, I spent the whole time chasing that 'wow' factor I find at one specific spot I hold dear. It didn't quite hit that unforgettable, transcendent high for me. That being said, the overall experience was fantastic. The service was attentive, the atmosphere was excellent, and the quality of the fish was still very high. This is a great spot for a refined lunch, and that A5 Wagyu alone is worth the trip. I'll definitely be back, perhaps for a sashimi-only focus next time!

Located across The Henry on Robertson, this intimate sushi spot was the perfect destination for our bookclub dinner night. We ordered everything our server recommended and by the end were so full! Food, ambiance and customer service was 5/5. Special shoutout to our server Naoko who not only went above and beyond with recommendations but great mannerisms when our table time limit was coming up and she even helped our friend with the baby stroller down the steps. Lastly their dessert ice cream sandwich was so unique I would recommend everyone try that. Cheers!

This is my second time here, but first time for counter omakase ($180). I love the look of this place, it's so cute! All the dishes and plates were pretty and all different. My friends even got to choose their own sake glasses out of a box with different options. Omakase was 18 courses and included not just sushi, but soups as well as cooked fish, dessert, and a handroll. I was veryyy full even after not even finishing some of the items. Service was very hands on as there were a lot of dishes to take away and sauces to bring. One thing that I did not appreciate is they didn't even ask still or sparkling water (trick question because answer is tap), but just started pouring Acqua Panna, which led to being charged an extra $18 for water. I wish they would have asked first. **Update: Their team reached out to me to provide a refund for the water we were charged! Was not expecting this, so was a nice touch!

This is the best Omakase that I've ever had. They import their fish directly from Japan, and you can really tell the quality and the taste of the fish are amazing. Everything was so thoughtful, the chef is extremely precise and intentional, and you can tell that he cares about his craft. The chef is also very friendly and super nice and easy to talk to and the customer service is wonderful. Every single fish is super tender and melts in your mouth, and they grind their wasabi fresh as well. I will 1000% be coming back.

I've been coming here for years and it is still one of my favorite sushi places in Los Angeles. The fish is super high-quality and they have a great variety nigiri choices. I also love the clean minimalist aesthetic. The staff is so nice and professional. We love this place and will continue to go.

The quality of the fish was so excellent,we also had the salmon, tuna, yellowtail, mackerel, octopus, and wagyu which were all very good. There is nothing in there you won't like. The service is also extremely attentive. I would absolutely go back.

Sushi Tama is located at the Robertson Plaza and serves up great sushi, in-fact I think this was some of the best sushi I've ever had. The ambiance/decor is sleek and minimalist made up of lots of wood and natural tones. Decor is non-existent. There is some outdoor dining available as well as indoor with tables and a sushi counter. The service was excellent on my first/recent visit a couple weeks ago and everyone was on top of things. Staff was very professional but friendly. The price point definitely matched the quality but it can be a bit pricey. We ordered quite a few things and everything was enjoyed by all. Somethings ordered but not limited to: Aburi Toro - Wow! This was so great. It's fatty tuna belly that's been partially grilled/seared using the aburi technique, so you get a nice cooked tuna with a raw inside. Edamame - Nicely cooked and a good portion to share. Custom nigiri plate - A custom plate with 10 pieces (chutoro, hirame, kinme, nodoguro, hamachi, sawara, katsuo, shima aji, sake, o-toro) was created and wow it was all so fresh and it all melted in my mouth. Kani hand roll - Nicely sized, average in taste but it was good. Parking options include street and garage parking.

I was afraid that everything was going to be extremely heavy, like French cuisine can be with all the cheese and butter. But I ordered the Combo of the Lemon Butter Chicken Ramen and a side of the Miso Teri Bowl (in case the ramen would be too much for me), and I was blown away by both dishes. The Lemon Butter is NOT heavy at all. It felt light and savory, but had a depth of flavor that's hard to identify because this is a dish I have never had anywhere else before. I can see why it's the most popular item on the menu. I took the side of Miso Teri Bowl home for dinner as the ramen was filling enough. There's a hint of wasabi in the dressing they drizzle over the shredded green onions that elevate this dish from other Teriyaki Chicken bowls I've had. Just DELICIOUS. I'd come back to Tonsho just for this rice bowl. My friend got the Dan Dan Ramen which he said blew his mind. He was surprised by the lightness of the broth, which is unlike the Chinese Dan Dan which is usually made of heavy creamy sesame paste. He actually drank most of the broth, and didn't feel like he was cheating on his diet. Additionally, the design of the restaurant, from the layout to the choice of bowls and utensils reminded me of a certain 2-Michelin Star restaurant in Culver City. The service was bar none. The waitress was attentive and thoughtful, even getting us a glass of water after we had been sitting there for another hour after paying our check. We never felt rushed or pushed out. Five stars, period. Coming back for more.

Instead of the traditional nori typically used for handrolls, they served a salted, crispy version. While some diners may enjoy the added texture, it wasn't quite for me. It reminded me of the seasoned seaweed used in Korean kimbap--similar to what I buy at Costco and use at home--which took away from the experience I expect from a classic handroll. The fish itself was fresh and above average, especially considering the lunch special pricing. Overall, it was a solid meal, but if I order this again, I would definitely request traditional nori to better complement the quality of the fish.

We came in on a rainy day thinking this would be a cozy sushi and ramen spot to warm up, and instead it turned into one of those experiences where you're annoyed before the food even hits the table. It was not busy at all when we walked in, and there were multiple empty tables in the front section. We were seated in the back and asked if we could sit in the front instead. We were told no because the roof was leaking. Okay, fine. We sit down near the sushi bar and immediately notice it is extremely warm. Like uncomfortable, stuffy, why is it this hot warm. We came to warm up with ramen, not feel like we were trapped in a heated room. I then noticed that none of the front tables we wanted to sit at actually had any water dripping on them, which already made the explanation feel questionable. About five minutes later, a party of four gets seated in that exact front area we were told we could not sit in. Nobody had left the restaurant. Nothing changed. That was already frustrating. We finally speak up again and say it is way too warm and ask if we can move to the front. Suddenly it is no problem at all. We get moved. No water leaking. Still raining outside. So what was the truth, because it clearly was not the roof. Now let's talk about the food, because this is a sushi and ramen bar and that should be the strong point. We ordered a couple of appetizers, a bento box, and a ramen. Everything was incredibly bland. Like shockingly flavorless. The sushi had no punch, the ramen had no depth, and the overall taste was just flat. It needed salt, seasoning, something. There was not even salt on the table, which honestly felt like a perfect summary of the entire meal. For the price point, this was extremely disappointing. The only reason this place is getting two stars instead of one is because of the staff who were actually working hard. The servers were attentive, quick, and clearly doing their best in an uncomfortable environment. You could tell they were on edge, but they were still on it and responsive whenever we needed something. That effort did not go unnoticed and they deserve credit. Without them, this would have easily been a one star experience. It also was not just me. I came with two other people and all of us felt the same way. We spent around one hundred dollars and walked out confused about how a sushi and ramen bar could miss the mark this badly on both comfort and flavor. Between the weird seating situation, the temperature issues, the noise, and the bland food, this is not a place I would return to or recommend. Two stars only for the staff. Everything else was a letdown.

After a long horrible Monday I had no energy to deal with bad energy. I knew I arrived a little too soon and needed to wait. I walked in and sat down, the waitress asked if i was picking an online order and just over all took care of me from the utensils to the amount of ginger i needed. After that they handed me my order and i was out that door to sit in my car and enjoy my sushi before the 1 hour + traffic . I was praying for it to be really good sushi! And let me tell you it was fresh ! And very very enjoyable! Really good sushi ! And as an LA native it's hard to find good sushi places with good quality! Will be coming back! 10/10

We already had good street parking nearby, so we just walked over. Because it's on Fairfax near Melrose, parking definitely depends on the time and day -- it can get tricky in this area. We didn't notice any signs for parking in the back, so street parking might be your best bet. Food: We ordered three items, and everything we tried was solid, but the standout for us was the creamy ramen. We shared a bowl, but honestly, I would've happily eaten a whole one by myself if I had known how good it was. The prices were pretty reasonable for the area, and portion sizes felt fair. Service: The staff was friendly. Service was smooth, and our food came out in good time. Overall: A nice casual spot for sushi and ramen in the Fairfax/Melrose area. Good food, friendly service, and decent prices. I'd definitely come back, especially for that ramen.
