12/10. Stumbled upon this incredible hidden gem and it absolutely blew me away! Udatsu's original location is in Tokyo, and the talented chefs brought all the freshness and amazing flavors across the sea and straight into West Hollywood with their LA restaurant. Every hand roll was simply incredible, and their uni pasta was to DIE for. The drinks were also so creative, I was obsessed with my matcha based cocktail. PLEASE do yourself a favor and come here, it's hands down my favorite place for sushi.

We took an Uber from OC to WH (roudntrip) for my BFF's bd. We love Omasake and it's our ritual each year to eat at a nice sushi restaurant on her BD. We booked for dinner at 530pm but we didn't get seated until 6pm. Upon arriving the host asked us to sit downstairs and waited until the chef is ready to serve. The restaurant and the bar down stair is called Rokusho. So while waiting we ordered a $24 cocktail called Moon over Mexico, tequila based. The dinner finally started at 6pm. The place could only hold 8 seats so it was very intimate. Once we sat down in front of the chef. The waitress started to serve us Okuaizu sparkling water for $8 each, not sure if they have regular water? There was no soy sauce or wasabi, only ginger with vinegar taste which was very good. I don't see this type of ginger serves in other sushi restaurants. The sushi was absolutely tasty, fresh and of good quality fish. Price point is HIGH because it was curated by the Michelin starred Chef Udatsu. Every piece is freshly made and served to you directly from the chef's hand. I specially loved the seasonal Herb Roll, seasonal Vegetable roll and crab chanwanmushi. We went all out, upgraded our menu with an additional $75 each. We ordered The honest sake bottle and shared a few drinks with the chef. The Honest sake bottle was delicious & smooth, but overpriced. I have been to many fancy sushi restaurants & they often do the same thing with an upgraded menu. I don't think you need to upgrade the menu. You would be ok with the Original menu. It is not much different just added truffles and caviars on couple of Nigiri pieces etc. In conclusion, a party of two cost $1185.03 including booking fee, a good bottle of sake, 2 sparking water, taxes and service fee. If one can splurge I suggest you should. It was a wonderful experience. I would come back once I have tried all sushi establishments in LA.

Sometimes you come across places that are even better than Michelin-star restaurants!! This place was absolutely delicious, and the service was incredibly kind and welcoming. Not only did I have a great time, but the food was truly outstanding, and I don't regret spending a single dollar here. I highly recommend it to everyone! I also highly recommend the sake... forgot the name but it was $130 per bottle very soft and taste

I'm usually pretty picky with raw fish and only eat it when it's fresh without any fishy taste, but this omakase really impressed me. The chef prepared and marinated the fish so well, and everything tasted incredibly delicious and refreshing. The service was also amazing, very attentive and they noted our preferences and the occasion we were celebrating. The chef's handwritten note was also super cute and such a thoughtful touch. Lovely experience overall!

If you're in LA and looking for a next-level omakase experience, Udatsu Sushi is a must. Tucked away in a sleek, intimate setting, this spot delivers craftsmanship, flavor, and service in perfect harmony. The chef's attention to detail is unmatched--every piece felt like a personal story told through sushi. But the absolute showstopper? The Double Uni Nigiri. Creamy, briny, melt-in-your-mouth perfection. It's the kind of bite that makes you close your eyes and just feel happiness. From start to finish, every course was artful and fresh, with pacing and presentation that kept us excited for the next surprise. Service was warm, attentive, and deeply knowledgeable without being overbearing. Yes, it's a splurge--but worth every penny. This is sushi that reminds you why omakase is an experience, not just a meal. @sushitraveler

Quick TL;DR: Overall a solid omakase experience but took a star off given that for the price point, the standard menu left a bit more to be desired compared to other omakases I've been too. If you're looking for excellent service and an artful omakase experience, this place is top notch at it though. We arrived for a 530 seating, which the first 30mins is hanging around for check in while the chefs get set up. You can sit at the terrace or bar with the option to pay for drinks here. Onto the actual experience, the attention to detail is great and they give you the option to upgrade here if you want add ons like caviar and truffle slices. I went with the standard menu, which everything was well presented and tasty. Favorite dishes included the tuna nigiris and the "tamale looking" cod fish dish was very unique. At the end of the day, $300 experience met expectations but I've had other places offer quite a bit more in quality ingredients at this price point so you're coming more for the preparation experience done to each dish, which is where they excel in with the level of detail.

In LA for 24 hours. Googled "omakase" and Udatsu popped up. No availabilities on Tock. No phone number on Yelp. Thank goodness Google Maps had the phone number. Called them 1 minute after they opened. The guy that picked up went and checked if there was any seating left. BAM! That man is the REAL MVP. 17 Course - absolute 10/10. I actually think it might be the best I've had. I'm gonna have to start an omakase journal so I can remember where I ate and how each of them rank. What really stuck with me was the simplicity of each fish. You get to taste the true flavor of the fish with very minimal modifications. Slight flair on each, versus some places that overdo it. Very intimate space upstairs, seats 8. Starts @ 6:00PM but you hang out at the bar downstairs first. Bar downstairs is all concrete, love the vibe. My least favorite - Seiko Crab Nigiri, Tamagoyaki My absolute fave - everything else. Absolutely killer experience. Thoroughly enjoyed this experience. $300 total w/ tax and tip.

Udatsu is fantastic and somewhat still a hidden gem. It is a very intimate high end omakase with an excellent speakeasy style bar on the bottom floor that also serves Izakaya dishes a la carte. You can order any cocktails from the bar downstairs and be served during dinner. The courses were not only exceptional in quality and presentation, but there is clearly a major focus on seasonal imported ingredients that made for a very special experience. I can't wait to return.

Udatsu sushi blew me away! I was so excited to try this new omakase restaurant out after hearing about its impressive background coming from Japan. The overall experience was truly amazing, from the quality of the fish to the outstanding service and overall ambiance. The chef was so impressive and courteous the entire night, his precision with our whole meal was truly a craft. I'm looking forward to coming back one day and telling friends about this place, there's a lot of top tier sushi in LA and Udatsu is on the top of this list.

We had to reschedule once and the day we did come there was a parade going on and almost the entire sunset blvd was closed down. It was just a huge mess trying to find parking near the restaurant. Flustered we decided to park and it was over a mile away. We powered walk to the restaurant only to find out we weren't really late as they were running late too. Anyways, after the epic adventure of trying to get to the restaurant, we got seated at the patio to have cocktail. We had one cocktail and sat there quite some time before they finally took us in to dinner. They offer you their upgrade menu which just basically has caviar and truffle added. We skipped that. They do offer wine or sake pairing for additional cost too. We skipped that too. We were starving and I just wanted to eat. We were there until close to 11at night and it was quite late for dinner but good thing we had time to digest our food to walk that long way to get back to our car! The food was excellent and my favorite was the variety of tuna they gave. The service was great too. Quaint ambiance with just 8 people in the room to dine with. It was definitely an experience to try once in your lifetime.

Where is the best place to park?

    Valet

    What is the price point?

$586 including tax & 20% gratuity for two people. Can't reserve for single person on their online reservation system.

"Is there a way to make a reservation directly (not through Tock)? Tock charges a 20% service fee?"…

I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure the 20% service fee is the prepay of the tip (which is weird) but with other high end dinners that's the way it's been. When in Tock the break down of the amount shows that the fee is from the restaurant not Tock

One of the best sushi spots I've had a in a while actually. We didn't really do any appetizers and went straight in for the fish. Started off with a couple of hand rolls, we did the crab hand roll and O toro hand roll. Crab hand roll wasn't as impressive, I've had better to be honest. I didn't let that experience ruin it for me because the toro hand roll was delicious. I think they add a piece of mint and it complimented the hand roll. Very crunchy nori wrapper and good rice to fish ratio. For our sushi we started with chu toro tuna, salmon belly, and halibut. Super fresh melt in your mouth quality. Halibut was interesting with the truffle, first time definitely won't be the last. We ended it with red snapper and black snapper. Nice of the chef to switch out roe for halibut for me on my omakase. However, probably the worst omakase I've ever had. No creativity, nothing felt premium, chewy fish, flavors didn't mesh, and half of it was salty. The miso soup wasn't scorching, which i appreciated at first but that meant the last few sips were fairly room temp. The real crab handroll was good. If the price point was $35 sushi set I'd give 5/5 but this is supposed to be premium omakase. I've been to other Sushi Enya locations and had good experiences, so this was very disappointing. Stick to the rolls and nigiri.
