As a Japanese person, I'm extremely picky when it comes to sushi, so I was genuinely thrilled to finally find an authentic Japanese sushi restaurant in Danville. Not only that -- this is honestly one of the best sushi restaurants I've had in the U.S. We went on a Saturday night, and several people tried to walk in, but the restaurant was fully booked. I highly recommend making a reservation in advance. The chef and staff were incredibly friendly, professional, and polite, which made the experience even better. Compared to omakase restaurants in San Francisco that can easily cost $250+ per person, this place is much more reasonable, though you should still expect to spend around $120 per person. The pricing is similar to Maruyama in San Mateo, but with a much better ambiance and service. I loved the experience so much that I already made another reservation for next month. Dining here truly felt like being back home in Tokyo. I honestly believe this place has Michelin-star potential in the future. You should definitely visit before it becomes too popular.

Beautifully crafted nigiri at Sushi Tamahime! Taka was a wonderful host, and Hide is a masterful sushi chef. The restaurant is intimate, with only 8 seats at the counter and 8 seats at a table, the dining experience was perfect for two people. My husband and I each had our own "Kaga" set menu and a glass of sake to enjoy throughout the meal. The fish was incredibly fresh, and the hints of salt, yuzu, or chopped fresh wasabi made each piece pop with flavor. A welcome addition to the Danville area for anyone who loves omakase.

I visited Sushi Tamahime for the first time today and had such a wonderful, memorable experience. We sat at the counter, so had a front row seat to our sushi chef's delicate and artistic preparation of our sushi. ALL of it was delicious. The fish is so fresh and the care that was taken with each piece of sushi came through with every bite (I need to get some of that yuzu salt!). And when Hide (head chef) and the team learned it was my birthday, they prepared a special roll for me! Sushi Tamahime is a hidden gem in Danville that all sushi lovers need to try!

Convenient enough as I don't like parallel parking on the street. There are both inside and outside seating. We selected inside as we both have allergy. The place is nicely decorated with a warm feel with fresh flower on each table. We were informed of availability of lunch specials while checking out the menu so decided to get lunch special sets. We ordered mango prawns, prawns with eggplant, and glass noodle salad. Interestingly the rice plates were served way before the salad. Nothing is spicy which was a surprise to me so I asked for chilli. The food is nicely plated with fresh orchids. Everything was flavorful but tasted the same. A bit too sweet for me. The Thai iced tea on the other hand was very good and not as sweet as other places. The service was a bit slow but we were in no rush so was okay. Will not be on my list of must return as the dishes ordered all tasted the same. I do like the location and the decoration so if i am asked to join my friends in the future I would not say no.

I have been CRAVING (!!!!) a few of the items on the menu! The calamari, scallops, lobster - chef's kiss! The steak? Mouthwatering. I know this is a seafood restaurant, but our waiter advised the ownership is the same as Forbes Mill (also in Danville) and if you've ever been there, you know it's probably the best steak that you can find in the east bay, and the steak at Tides is the same quality. Despite going on Valentine's Day when it was extremely busy, our waiter and the kitchen did a fantastic job. We never felt like service suffered and they were incredibly on top of everything from start to finish. Our waiter gave us amazing recommendations from food items, to cocktails, and wine pairings, and was just so warm and friendly. The restaurant itself is so nicely decorated and I love the modern and trendy take. Given the location, I was expecting it to have a more traditional aesthetic, and I'm so impressed with the direction they went with it. The entire vibe of the restaurant is great and this is definitely a stand out place in the area. I am counting down the days until I go back!

The menu is extensive enough for most tastes, and we did order a variety of foods to test that theory! The ones we ordered and have photos for include: Pear Quesadilla (Pears, brie cheese, flour tortilla, pear chutney); Calamari Fritti; New York White Cheddar Fondue; Bishop Ranch salad (Baby greens, pear, candied walnuts, blue cheese, balsamic vinaigrette); and for dessert: Warm Pear Tart (Puff pastry, vanilla ice cream, caramel), and a Seasonal Bread Pudding. The food came quickly and hot from the kitchen - except the salad and desserts! The food was very tasty, and the pear quesadilla and fondue were favorites for the uniqueness and the taste. The fondue had sliced pears along with the bread, a great change in the usual fondue take. The salad was also liked, fresh and a good variety of tastes and textures. They subbed the dressing for ranch. The desertas were also a hit, being shared. The warm pear tart was best liked, and very sweet and traditional in taste, but the bread pudding was also a close second. The pear tart was new to us, though. The service was great, and Cesar R. took good care of us. Overall, a great time! Can't wait for another excuse to be in the area for dinner.

We came late on a Saturday evening. I tried to French onion soup and lamb shank. Both were ok but seemed to be lacking something. The servers were really friendly and I will come back again. Another lovely presentation! The ratio of Spam to rice to seaweed was balanced and came with a tasty sauce drizzled overtop and a different one on the side. For brunch entrees, we had the ube waffles (one as is and one with chicken katsu), the kalua pork breakfast sandwich? And the poke bowl. The ube waffles are unique and delicious! They are topped with whipped cream, ube syrup, and a fresh fruit salsa; all complemented the waffles well. The chicken katsu was perfectly coated in panko and fried well. The poke was refreshing and came with crunchy pickled vegetables, edamame, and avocado; which was a healthy and tasty brunch dish! The Kalua pork breakfast sandwich was hearty and savory, and the potato salad completed the plate nicely. We finished our meal with the Hula pie. Must get, even if you don't have room! As my husband and I are both movie nerds, it was only fitting to make a reservation at the restaurant featured in the movie. Don't judge us, ha ha. The restaurant is described as a restaurant with Asian influence, and the interior reflects this. The interior of the restaurant is beautiful and dimly lit, perfect for a date night. It has definitely been revamped since "Mrs. Doubtfire," but the date night aesthetic seen in the movie still remains. For drinks, I ordered the peach Bellini and my husband ordered the old fashioned. The peach Bellini was warm and sweet in a good way. My husband said his old fashioned "tasted off." For the appetizer, we ordered the charcuterie board. This is the best charcuterie we have had! The bread was toasted nicely. The brie, gouda, and manchego cheeses, as cheeses typically are ha ha, were very addicting. The apricot jam and truffle honey added nice flavors to the bread. The coppa and prosciutto meats were tender and not too salty. For our entrees, I ordered the Bridges burger medium well. It comes with herb aioli, LTO, and melted Havarti cheese, all between a toasted brioche bun. This is one of the best and juiciest burgers I've ever had! It was cooked to perfection, the cheese perfectly melted, and the bun both crispy and fluffy. The herb aioli was not overpowering and added just the right amount of "herbiness." My husband ordered the grilled pork chop, which comes with an apple chutney, applewood smoked bacon, collard greens, parmesan cheese grits, and a red wine demi glace. I tried his entree. As someone who doesn't really care for pork chops in general, I loved this one. It was very tender and juicy and the apply chutney was a delicious accompaniment. The cheese grits were well-cooked and seasoned, which pleased this Southern girl's heart. The red wine sauce was thick and a nice touch to the pork. For dessert, we ordered the molten chocolate cake. Unfortunately, there was no "lava" in the center, but the cake itself was very gooey and rich and the vanilla gelato offered by our waitress added an extra layer of creaminess and decadence! Our waitress was super nice and kept smiling the entire time, adding to this incredible dining experience. The other wait staff that assisted us were no different.
