What a fabulous and unique dining experience. The sushi chef, Hide, is a master. Service excellent! Really enjoyed it. Incredible! I agree a Star could be coming. Thank you to the staff for a great night. I will be back!!

A new Japanese restaurant has opened up in the former Sushi Bar Hana location. What makes them unique is that they have a well established sushi restaurant chain within Japan called Maimon/Tamahime. The sushi chef calls back to roots in Kanazawa, and showcases this by offering a very special fish called nodoguro, also known as akamutsu, rosy sea-bass, or blackthroat seaperch. There's also a decent number of lesser known kanazawan things like snow crab, or even gold flake. Kanazawa produces most of japans gold flake, so it's not just a fancy little piece of fish, but an authentically kanazawan touch. I came in on their third night of opening, pretty easy to either reserve or walk-in so far, with about 10 seats each at the bar and tables. In terms of quality of nigiri, there's some good and some bad. The fish quality is generally good. Chutoro and snow crab were the standouts. Nodoguro is always a favorite. The shrimp was very sweet and tasty. The use of yuzu(?) as a topping was really a nice touch. The downside, very heavy handed on the rice, tempurate of the rice is on the colder side, as the temperature is not well regulated by the rice container -- only a few pieces came out at the correct temperature at the counter seats. Rice has a very light flavor, not much sushi vinegar or seasoning. Nikiri is also light, not too punchy, not too salty, not very sweet. Wasabi was also very heavy, a bit too much for my taste on most pieces. I'd really love to see a premium only omakase option, with less salmon and cream-cheese based rolls. Overall, I'm impressed, and am excited to see them grow. Yuzu soda 4.2/5 - tiny bits of yuzu floating around. Probably a yuzu marmalade mixed with soda water. Edamame 4/5 - tiny bit of char gives good flavor. Ikura 3/5 - a bit gel-like, not much of a pop. Otoro 4.5/5 - very tender and oily. Otoro aburi 4.6/5 - very tender, the kiss of heat brings out more of the oils, gives satisfying contrast of temperatures. Chutoro 4.5/5 - very tender and oily. Always a favorite. Not too different from Otoro, this is usually going to be my pick. Grilled hamachi 4.2/5 - goes well with the other bluefins. Similar to akami in texture, buttery. Ika 3/5 - Not a fan of ika. Also a big truffle oil disliker. This one was alright, as it was cut to be easier to chew. Kind of like a squid noodle. Tamagoyaki 3.7/5 - dense. Good dashi flavor, good soy flavor, but too dense. Unagi 4/5 - unagi sauce tasted store-bought, but the unagi itself was good. It wasn't too mushy like most other places. Kanigankomori 3.9/5 - lots of potential. Taste overwhelmed by mayonnaise though. Top it with citrus and soy sauce instead, and you've got a winner. Nodoguro 4.8/5 - always has been, always will be my favorite fish. It's great having the skin kissed with a little bit of heat on the skin surface to bring out the fishes natural oils. Amaebi 4.7/5 - also very sweet and tender. The size really helps make the texture appealing. Zuwaigani 4.8/5 - also very sweet, I love how it's just a piece of crab totally intact. Uni 4.79/5 - sweet and briny. Not too fishy. Not bad. Way too much wasabi.

I visited Sushi Tamahime for the first time today and had such a wonderful, memorable experience. We sat at the counter, so had a front row seat to our sushi chef's delicate and artistic preparation of our sushi. ALL of it was delicious. The fish is so fresh and the care that was taken with each piece of sushi came through with every bite (I need to get some of that yuzu salt!). And when Hide (head chef) and the team learned it was my birthday, they prepared a special roll for me! Sushi Tamahime is a hidden gem in Danville that all sushi lovers need to try!

Sushi Tamahime, which recently opened in Danville, is truly an authentic Japanese sushi restaurant. We enjoyed the omakase course, and I was deeply impressed by the chef's meticulous and delicate craftsmanship. The sushi chef appears to have trained extensively in Japan, and each piece reflected great care and attention to detail. It is a rare place where one can truly experience authentic Japanese sushi and the spirit of Japanese hospitality here in the Bay Area. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a genuine Japanese dining experience.

Came in wanting to see the replacement for sushi Hana and was not disappointed. Great service and even better food. Everyone one there was super friendly. I recommend this place to anyone looking for an authentic sushi experience. And please, order the sea perch!!!

So incredibly overpriced and disappointing. Their "premium" nigiri (10 pc for $75) was not premium at all. In fact, it was worse than basic/cheap nigiri you get elsewhere. All the pieces were tiny, half of them were chewy, and not at all what the menu said they were supposed to be. For instance, the "king salmon" was "sad" salmon and garnished with some kind of orange marmalade-bizarre and gross. I had to choke down the "Wagyu" nigiri because it was so chewy. I couldn't believe how bad it all was. I should have known the dinner was doomed after I ordered their "Crab amuse," which was three pieces ($18!!) of shredded IMITATION crab wrapped in the thinnest piece of tuna you've ever seen, then placed in a weird, sweet cream sauce. Even the miso soup (which I've never received with nigiri omakase, but ok) was barely room temperature and totally watered down. Sorry, Ukai. I have no idea how your reviews are so high, but you have no business operating as a "sushi" bistro or whatever you want to call yourself. Sigh.

The wines by the glass are awesome, if you like Chard, like my wife, they have Frank, Rom and Far Niente, all for $18. That is a steal for all 3, especially Far Niente. Most place charge $20 to $25 in Danville and rarely see Far Niente by the glass. The prices look reasonable on all the wines by the glass, so go get some! They also have great cocktails ($16, great price), my 2 favorites so far are Watermelon Seduction (4 Stars) and Pomtini (4 Stars, get on the rocks). Their bartenders mix the perfect balance, never too sweet or tart, just right! Food notes: Tang's Fried Rice (3 Stars, $30 with chicken, beef, shrimp, so 2 Stars) The base price for fried rice was $19, ok pricy but if you ask for combination fried rice (chicken, beef and shrimp), the price is $30, $11 increase. They charge for each protein, ridiculous! The rice was not that great, they didn't use a long grain rice, some sort of short grain, but not fat, still thin, like the rice was broken in half. All the ingredients were fresh, but nothing special. And the egg, no large chucks, just tiny bits mix in. Szechuan Green Beans with chicken (4 Stars, $20 with chicken). The green beans were fresh, not overcooked, still slightly crunchy. The sauce had some heat and the chicken was cooked perfectly. Roasted peanuts were added, nice touch! Rolling Lettuce Cups with Chicken (4.5 Stars $17) The lettuce cups were perfectly cut from the head lettuce, no ruff edges, easily separated and large. One of the best execution of lettuce cups I've seen! The chicken filling was also awesome! It was not serviced with plum sauce, kinda missed it, but instead some thin sauce, good, not sure exactly what, but definitely not plum. Pork Belly Bao (5 Stars) Really good, get some! Mongolian Beef (3 Stars) The beef was thin sliced and good quality, but the sauce was to sweet, heavy on hoisin, plenty of sliced onion and green onion. No heat. Kung Pao Chicken (3 Stars) I liked the shiitake mushrooms, but the rest was just okay. Shu Mai (4.5 Stars) Really good filling to the top, good size dumping (almost have to cut in half to eat) serviced with chili sauce. I mixed some table soy and chili sauce together, perfect dipping sauce. Yo's Rock Shrimp with Sriracha Mayo (3.5 Stars) Good quality shrimp, nice and lightly batter, deep fried but not over cooked. Until next time...

We ordered the dinner combo where you can pick two items for $25.99--such a great deal. The beef was tender and flavorful, and the tempura was perfectly crispy and light. We also ordered walu nigiri and uni nigiri, both of which tasted incredibly fresh. On top of that, we tried the Bank Roll--a spicy tuna roll with shrimp tempura topped with a spicy sauce--and it was amazing. Great texture, great flavor, and just the right kick. Honestly, everything we ordered--from the soup and salad to the rolls and nigiri--was super fresh and really well prepared. You can tell they take pride in the food here. Just to note, there's at least two other sushi places around here, with one across the street and one just down the street in the shopping center next to this one, there' no shortages of sushi spots here. However, with Senro Sushi, if you want affordability it's probably one of the more affordable ones out of all 3 in this area. The place itself is pretty big, with lots of seating inside and very spacious all around with a pretty massive sushi bar area. They are staffed well overall, as even when you go in the morning there's usually a couple of servers at least, and several sushi chefs behind the sushi bar counter area, prepping fish, cutting, making sushi and etc. The service here is pretty good overall. Haven't had any issues. The menu here is, pretty big. They have a bit of everything that's not just sushi options of course. I've tried several things here already, so let me just go through each thing. The lunch bento is probably the best bang for your buck here. Compared to the other sushi spots, you won't be able to find one as cheap as them, and the amount of stuff you get here with it is pretty good too. This bento box does come with miso soup and also a tasty salad (dressing is yummers). You will also get a California Roll with it, which is amazing because their California here is actually quite tasty. One of the better ones hands down. You have the option to choose two other things from the menu (if you choose to go with 2 items), and decide what you want. I've tried the chicken teriyaki, the chicken katsu, and the tempura. All have been good. Hands down what you should get if you're here at that time on a weekday. The Agadashi tofu was just okay. Wasn't terrible, but felt their dashi was really bland, and the tofu itself wasn't fried that well. It needs to be more crisp to avoid it just falling apart when moist. Also, the batter they used just didn't have any flavor to it at all. It was okay. The sushi roll we got was yum. I don't really have much else to say about it other than that it was good. The fish was fresh, the spicy fish was good, and the sauces blended well. Good. The chicken egg don was not great. We had actually mistakenly ordered this instead of the katsudon, and this was just awful. The chicken didn't feel well cooked, the broccoli was just straight steamed with no sauce on it. The egg was overcooked, and not even remotely fluffy for what this is supposed to be. Just overall not at all what I had expected. Overall, Senro is a great spot for affordable sushi options in this area in San Ramon. While it's not going to offer anything super flashy, which the sushi spot in the shopping center across the street may offer, it's also going to be much less of a bill here when all said and done. The bento boxes are hands down the best option here for those here on a weekday lunch. The sushi rolls here are also great. Some of the other stuff we had were just, okay, but overall, was a nice experience here right near the Crow Canyon freeway exit.
