The Goleta location is Schwarzenegger while the Sushi Teri on Bath Street would have to be Devito! When I reviewed the "ugly" Sushi Teri a few months ago, they were lucky! I was in a good mood and gave them two stars. Naturally when I walked into the "beautiful" Sushi Teri, I walked in with trepidation... honestly not expecting much. I sat at the counter behind all the neatly stacked wine bottles. All in the same order as they were on the wine list. The waiter asked me if I wanted a drink, I ordered tea. They gave me a huge cup and a full tea pot as well. I was wondering what they would charge me for it. Sometimes it was free at japanese restaurants, I assumed it wouldn't be here. For lunch I ordered the special; Beef bowl. I know, dangerous considering my previous experience at this restaurant's doppleganger a few miles away. Someone else checked on me to make sure that I had been taken care of. And someone asked if I needed more tea. I was starting to like this place! I looked around, it was clean, well decorated and very organized. So polar opposite to its ugly twin. But would the food be good? I guess that my biggest surprise was that the food was very good. it was attractive in the bowl, a good portion and very tasty! All in all it was a very, very good place to have lunch. I don't like to leave bad reviews, but today I decided to indulge my college budget and get a sushi roll while I was at work for the night shift. I go in and order a shrimp tempura roll to go, sounded great with crab and tempura shrimp and a sweet sauce for $9 after a tip. After waiting 15 minutes I got a cold, tiny roll the size of a deck of cards - see my picture for reference, with car keys for scale. I am so irritated. The same roll at Kyoto's is huge, hot, and comes with 2 kinds of sauce for $2 less. I will never be going back here. Thanks for reminding me to check yelp before I try a dinner place. I've come back again! Got the dinner sushi combo and I absolutely love it! Every piece of fish is very thick and soft. For the price of only about $24, it's definitely worth it. You even get miso soup, salad, rice, and a California roll or spicy tuna roll. Warning though, the salad dressing is a bit weird. It's some kinda salty, creamy dressing. It's definitely not your usual Japanese salad dressing or even the thousands island-like dressing. We also got the bulgogi special. The meat wasn't really what you'd call bulgogi. This was the most average, run-of-the-mill sushi I've had in years. Every piece of fish was adequate, slightly better than what you'd get at a grocery store. Compounding the issue is that the cuts of each piece of sushi are humungous. This could be a 'good thing' if you're gluttonous, but makes me think that these sushi chefs aren't exactly trained masters. And the cut rolls are cut into pieces the size of my fist. Pretty incredible - again, if you need to eat massive quantities. That said, I like my fish smooth, fresh, and in manageable portions. Sushi Teri provided nothing of the sort. read more

About 45 minutes to wait for sushi then the remaining time on my bill. I got to the restaurant before it even opened and everyone around me was eating and gone by the time I received my food. Deluxe california roll is ample and smothered with smelt roe. Mmm, little crunchy eggs popping in yo mouth. Chicken gyoza is deep fried, not pan-fried/steamed like we were mildly expecting. It's okay, they were still good, and hot. Salmon skin roll had that gobo stuff I am not entirely crazy about, but I liked the variation to our lunch that was predominantly california roll and variations of california roll. Sushi Teri seems a little pricey for what you get and if you have the means and motivation to stray a couple miles away, you can find more interesting rolls and better prices. But, in that particular area, price and quality are about the same with other sushi places. And you can't beat the company if you're there with a good friend! Sharing three rolls and the gyoza with one other, plus water and hot green tea held me from lunchtime until about 9 pm. I was pretty full. read more

Thank you Yelp for helping me to find this freakin' awesome sushi bar. I was heading back south from Santa Barbara when I got a mad craving for sushi. I decided to fire up Yelp to see what was around. There appeared to be quite a few decent selections in the region, but this was right off the highway. Now, I can be skeptical of restaurants located on certain places. Right off the freeway is one of them. Inside a casino or horse racing track is another. But, wow -- this place was amazing. I ordered the chirashi bowl and the spider roll. That was entirely too much food. Both were sizable offerings. I was very surprised and impressed by the sushi chef -- he offered toro in the chirashi. Toro in the chirashi?! Who does this? Only very generous chefs. And the toro was so soft and succulent. It wasn't the dud piece at the bottom of the barrel. Very nice. The fish was intensly flavorful and fresh. Every bite was just heavenly! And while the spider roll was very good, it wasn't nearly as interesting as that amazing chirashi. I was so very impressed with the chirashi that I am looking forward to my next visit -- whenever I am along the coast again. read more

I've had lunch here about once a month for a while - just long enough between visits to forget how mediocre it is. The service has always been average, but today is sunk to non-existent. After getting my order, no one ever looked over, stopped by or acted like they cared if I had everything I wanted or needed. The place had maybe 4 tables occupied and two servers. I could not get the attention of either. Finally, I had to get up and wait at the counter to get the ice tea refill. Never did get the wasabi. When the server brought the check, I explained I had been left alone the whole meal - and she just laughed. On the way out I respectfully told the manager that the service was not good and he just made excuses, then said, "we're trying". No apology. It's clear nobody wants to work there and they don't care about the customer experience. They don't even try to be welcoming or cordial. I won't be back. read more

My favorite sushi place in SB/Goleta. I've never had a sushi roll or meal I didn't like. They have a lot of sushi roll options, some raw, cooked, deep fried, all are delicious. My personal favorites are the Philadelphia roll, broken heart, dragon, and pizza roll. Not into sushi? The hibachi steak,fried rice, and popcorn salmon are my bfs favorites. Sometimes the restaurant gets really busy and since the waiters don't have designated sections it can get a little hectic so I can see how some may not have had the best experience, but I have never had a problem with service. On the plus side, you can ask any server for whatever you need and they will happily grab it for you. read more

We came here for my son's 18th birthday. There was just three of us and we ordered 4 rolls. We asked for no imitation crab in the Omega 3 roll, no cream cheese in the crunchy roll and ordered 2 monkey rolls. We eat a lot of sushi. This was spot on. The fish was fresh and the rolls stuck together well even though we had easy rice. The wait time was reasonable and the staff was friendly and helpful. Not sure why people had bad experiences or wrote negative reviews. I did read that a lot of the reviews were for food other than sushi. I frequent Sushi Teri 1-2 times a week. I really do love this place. I literally always order the same thing. An order of uni nigiri and a chirashi bowl or an order of uni nigiri and poke salad with sushi rice. The uni is consistently fresh, as is the rest of the fish. The chirashi bowl is very generous. Mine have come with tuna, salmon, seared albacore, red snapper, yellowtail, squid, octopus, seaweed salad and imitation crab. It also comes with a bowl of soup. Pricing is ~13 for lunch, ~18 for dinner. Obviously it's a bigger portion with more variety at dinner. The poke salad is seasoned very well, but the spice level is inconsistent. Sometimes it's really spicy, other times it's not. I don't mind that tho, keeps things interesting. I honestly love all the sashimi I've had here, everything is so fresh. I like ordering the chirashi bowl because of the variety. But I'm not a huge fan of the octopus or red snapper, but that's just personal preference. The chow mein is actually yakisoba and it's quite good! I haven't tried the ramen but my boyfriend seems to like it. Id say the biggest complaint is service. Most, not all, of the servers are really inattentive. They're friendly but just seem like they can't read the customers very well so service is very slow. read more

I haven't been here for over a year and I usually order the salmon it was always good. last night I ordered the teriyaki tempura combo. Chicken was OK BUT omg the huge hunks of tempura veg and I mean LARGE could feed a family of three. most people don't complain about too much food but this was ridiculous. I ate the shrimp, mushroom and some broccoli but the squash, onions, potatoes were left. Also I didn't like the taste and it was greasy. Disgusting and outrageous! We went to Sushi Teri today and are both disgusted and outraged. The reasons? (1) We had to ask for plates, (2) the water tasted terrible, (3) the texture of the salmon and albacore sushis were rubbery and borderline safe, (4) they tried to charge us for a sushi roll they never served us, and (5) even though 3 different waitresses confirmed that every sushi roll contains 6-8 pieces, every sushi roll we ordered contained only 4. No amount of pointing at the facts could get them to admit they had cheated us. The only pathetic answer the supervisor gave us was "this is how it is." Buyer Beware. Avoid this restaurant at all costs or take a picture of what they bring you because they'll rob you blind. read more

To all my friends in LA, this is not the same chain as the Sushi Teri in Little Tokyo at the JVP. It's an okay Americanized Japanese - pan Asian restaurant but not a Japanese restaurant. Had the beef teriyaki and tempura combo. The portions of the tempura was very good, the beef teriyaki was tasty but not a large portion. The combo fills you up because they give you both steamed rice and California roll. They don't give you daikon with the tempura sauce, but they did understand what to bring when asked. Overall a good deal for the price. Also ordered the salmon sashimi, tasted like it was frozen and thawed. A bit pricey for what you get. Overall three out of five stars... read more

I ordered 3 sushi rolls. As I ate the salmon roll, I kept thinking I couldn't taste any salmon. So I opened the tuna avocado roll to find there was bare any tuna or avocado. What there was--was a BIG LIVE SPIDER CRAWLING OUT OF MY SUSHI. I told a waiter who called the manager. The manager came out and said, "You CLAIM there's a spider in your sushi." I replied, "I don't claim it-- there IS a spider in my sushi. See for yourself. " The spider kept crawling on my sushi. This place is mediocre. The sushi is nothing to rant or rave about. The couple times I've been there I stuck with my go-to sushi combination of CA roll and some nigiri. One time I did get stomachaches after being there, but this didn't happen the other 2-3 times, so I'm not sure what to attribute it to. I remember the salad being a somewhat generous portion, and the fish being relatively fresh. Casey's ordered the curry before, which is definitely a generous portion, and had a taste that he really enjoyed. What this place does have that other Goleta sushi places lack (Sushiya, Mika) is a somewhat nice interior seating area that makes you feel like you're at a real restaurant. Slightly pricey, so again, we'd recommend Sushiya for this quality sushi but for a slightly cheaper price. read more

We decided to try this place on a whim because we were just driving on Fairview looking for a place to eat. And I said I wanted sushi so we decided to try here. Maybe it's because it was small and I went in with low expectations, but the sushi turned out to be decent for such a plain place. We got a "sushi plate" with a couple pieces of Nigiri and a California roll. The fish could have been better, but since it wasn't the only thing I got it it satisfied me. We also ordered two rolls, an Alaskan and Spider. The Alaskan was pretty good (but it's hard to get it wrong really), and the Spider wasn't the best I've had but it was still delicious all the same. The staff were friendly, and I'd come here again when I want a sushi fix and my budget is not "Arigato"-y. read more

This is probably my favorite Japanese restaurant/sushi spot in town. I've been coming here for nearly 20 years now, and not once have I been disappointed. This place typically always seems to be pretty busy, and it's easy to see why. The decor is fresh and modern, they have specials that seem to change daily, and their vast variety of sushi is always top notch. Service is usually on par, too. I ate here last night, and our waitress was very friendly and attentive. She checked on us often and made sure that our drinks were never empty, which was a plus. Additionally, she brought a set of "kids' training chopsticks" for my two nephews which I thought was pretty cool. They both reveled in the fact that they were able to pick up rice without really having any previous experience with the utensil. The prices are not the cheapest, but average for the area and a good deal for the quality of sushi (or other entree) you are given. The restaurant is located in a busy shopping center, but adjacent to a large parking lot which makes it easy to park close by. If you're in Goleta and looking for a good sushi fix, try Sushi Teri out. They have been a fixture in the local community for quite some time now, and it's easy to see why they are consistently busy. read more

Sushi Teri Goleta what an experience ! If you are looking for slow service and unpresentable rolls this is your place. Girlfriend and I were looking to grab some quick rolls and didn't feel like driving down to Santa Barbara for the Sushi Teri on Bath St. So we decided to try out this location. I'd like to start off with the appetizers. Miso soup (with no seaweed!) had to be at least at room temperature and spicy edamame was more of a garlic edamame For our rolls we had ordered one "Baked AF" and a "Broken Heart." The only "baked" part about the first roll was the tin foil. It had gotten stuck to our roll which eventually lead to the roll falling apart after we tried to grab a singular piece. I understood why they had named the second roll the "Broken Heart" because it had broke my heart when I saw how poorly this roll was presented. Noting back to the slow service, We were checked on once by our server and once she had heard about my experience another server attended to us one to drop off the check. There are a lot of negative reviews for this place, but personally I really enjoy it. I've tried the California, Shrimp Tempura, Spicy Tuna, Rainbow, & Orange Dragon rolls, and they've all been good. Rainbow Roll did have way too much fish for my liking, though. Shrimp Tempura is my favorite. I also really like their gyoza and miso soup. The ordering system is a little weird, but the service is always decent. We've been seated really quickly even when there was a line. read more

The Tempura vegetables were cut like tree slabs, batter was bloated, tasteless and greasy, if you are concerned for your arteries, take a pass. I ordered a noodle dish and the few Shrimp are served like slivers from an oriental trail mix. They too are unmemorable. Staff are busy rushing back and forth looking busy so don't expect their attention. Ambience is, well, there isn't any, so not a place to linger over your meal even if it is a bad one.
