    Shrimp Pad Thai

As a former Salida resident, I was thrilled to see some new additions to town. Finding food outside of pizza, burgers and Mexican in the heart of the Rockies can be quite the challenge. Sushi Thai is such a welcomed addition. The service was incredible... my water was never empty. Rare to have this kind of service post-Covid. Order the shrimp pad Thai and spice level 4 and it was very good. It's above average Thai. The heat of the 4 was mild at best if you're a heat seeker. I was surprised by the large portion of shrimp as well! It's a little pricey, but everything in Salida is pricey. But in my opinion, I find you can excellent value for the money. If I still lived here, Sushi Thai would definitely be in my bi-weekly rotation! Side note, the fried shrimp shumai is a great starter!

Delicious sushi and Thai dishes! I can tell the sushi is quality fish. That summer spring rolls are a refreshing appetizer and the pork gyoza is packed with flavor. The customer service is excellent and I really like the ambiance of the restaurant. A gem in the mountains.

The restaurant is a quaint little gem in Salida. The staff are so friendly and responsive. The crab Rangoons are homemade and delicious. Would definitely recommend an order to share. My friend stated the pad tai was some of the best pad tai ever eaten and the peanut sauce was incredible. The portion was generous. My sushi and sashimi was fresh and tasty. Will definitely be back

Fantastic addition to Salida. The customer service was fantastic, and the food actually came out pretty fast! We had the mafia roll, KC roll and beef drunken noodle. Everything was fantastic and the noodles were the perfect amount of sauce. Definitely check this one out. Suzy is the best waitress, she's awesome!

OMG the crap ring goons are to die for This is an incredible restaurant with incredible customer service we barely even had to wait we just had to chat a little bit. I think that we should add a little bit of American food to improve the restaurant so that both Americans and Japanese people can enjoy this restaurant. Once again the crab Rangoons are to die for.

This is one of my favorite places in Salida. The menu is versatile and lets you mix and match between cuisines. The prices are very reasonable. And the food presentations are beautiful! Also the team is always so pleasant. I didn't realized they closed for a bit mid-day and showed up right before the break, but they were still really accommodating. Highly recommend!

However, I have to be completely truthful about my experience, and unfortunately, the food was really quite terrible during my visit. I found that both the noodles and the broth did not taste very fresh at all, and the chicken was overcooked, super bland, and very dry, making the overall flavors just not good. To make matters worse, I did not feel very good in my tummy after eating here, which really put a damper on the whole meal. I thought the service was OK and I think they really do try their best, but the front of the house just felt too disorganized and chaotic to make up for the food. I feel bad writing such a critical review for a small family business, but I feel like I should be honest about the quality, which is why I can only give it 2 stars especially how expensive the meal was without even ordering drinks. There are just so many other better restaurants in town.

Prices have been raised and what once was included in a hibachi lunch is now extra. Yeah, so they raised the prices a couple bucks on all entrees BUT now you DO NOT get soup, salad or the yum yum sauce included - it is all ala carte. So that couple bucks extra is for MUCH less. If you want what you once got included you will pay +$2 per entree and then +$3.50 for the salad, +$2.50 for onion soup (the yum yum was extra too, but we didn't get it so now sure on pricing). $8 price increase for the hibachi lunch! OUTRAGEOUS!!! Now that was annoying enough, but the quality was lower too! The light japanese fried rice is now loaded down with onions (not the light leeks that once speckled it). My chicken was tough. The hubby's filet was tender, but something changed with it too because he said it just wasn't the same. The veggie mix was kind of light too and filled with bok choy - which is fine, but I don't want a pile of cabbage as my side. They do not emphasize the changes. They are simply whited out on the menu. It is a great disappointment to a once beloved place. I am sure the once or twice a year my mother comes we might stop in, but it is out of our rotation. Too expensive and not as good as it once was.

The ramen itself was average. The broth lacked the deep, rich flavor you'd expect from a long-simmered stock, which may be due to their short service window. The egg also wasn't prepared in the traditional ramen style, which was a little disappointing as it was an additional cost. One highlight was the iPad ordering system, it was super easy to navigate and honestly one of the best parts of the experience. Being able to order and request the bill without waiting made everything feel simple and efficient. The mochi dessert showed a variety of flavors in the photo, but when it arrived they were all vanilla. I wish we'd been given a heads-up about that. That said, the staff were really welcoming and knowledgeable. They made sure we had an endless supply of wasabi and ginger, which was thoughtful, and we definitely felt well taken care of. Ryan was a standout bartender and made sitting at the bar more enjoyable.

We came here on a Friday afternoon with an hour and 15 mins to spare before we had to pick up our train ride tickets. We figured we wanted to try sushi and how long would that take? Surprise surprise! When we entered, there wasn't a single person dining in. We took around 5-8 mins to decide what we wanted and by the time we went back to order at the main desk, there was one person ordering to dine in. Another person came in for their pick up just after we'd finished ordering. We ordered fountain drinks, the eel, octopus and squid nigiri, Las Vegas roll and denver roll. Half an hour later, nothing has shown up at our table. At least 3 other people have shown up for their pick up orders and have not received them. Finally at 40 mins post our order placement, I went up to ask how long it would take, and I was told that the chef was just starting up on our order!! We ended up taking our order to go and only because I'd already paid for it. I would've appreciated a heads up regarding the wait time. You can't just expect us to sit there waiting for food. We would've gone elsewhere and enjoyed a nice dine in experience. So I have to call this poor service. Regarding the food, they gave us a bowl of complimentary hot and sour soup which was good. The sushi was good as per my brother who ate it all. The Las Vegas roll was excellent and should on anyone's order list. The denver roll was just ok. As you can see from the pictures, the takeout was obviously not as enjoyable as the dine in would've been, because the rolls got squished together. The food is good, but ask up front if they're lagging behind in orders so you're aware of how long you'll be.

The wine list is very nice, and you won't break the bank -- especially at happy hour, with two dollars off each glass of wine between 5 and 7 PM. For an appetizer, we had the Shishati grilled peppers with pesto/cilantro sauce, and they were just fantastic. They are mild, nicely grilled, and beautifully presented. It is served as an appetizer, but please be warned, one out of every nine peppers is exceedingly hot. We had about 12 peppers, and all of them were mild, so we beat the odds! I've had hamburgers all over the world, and I can honestly say I have not had a better cheeseburger than I got right here from the menu at Blackstock. It's in a traditional bun, lightly toasted, with tempura, onion, cracked pepper, mayo, Tabasco, candied and smoked bacon, and it is served with Hand-cut fries. You can add guacamole for a dollar, or blue cheese or Gruyere cheese for another dollar. But I did not add a thing; it was perfect as it came out of the kitchen for me! You will be asked how you want your hamburger cooked, and I chose medium. It could not have been better! It's on the menu at a very fair $21 including your hand-cut fries. My lovely dinner-date had the petite filet mignon, a 5-ounce offering of spectacular steak, served with goat cheese, potato croquettes, asparagus, stewed shallots, served with a Cabernet Demi glaze at $45. It was a large serving, I believe bigger than 5 ounces, because we are taking half of it home in a to-go box! Again, the food was spectacular... really good. We will finish with the flourless chocolate torte, serve with whipped cream and Amarina dark cherries at $11. If I was a betting man, I'd say you're gonna love this place! Take a few pictures, do what I did, and leave a review, because more people need to know the quality of food coming out of this little storefront on a busy street in Gunnison! More recently, we sat at the bar last week to enjoy both happy hour, and the ramen menu. The bartender was great, and checked in with us regularly. We started with a small plate of the bistro fries - which comes covered in Truffle Oil, Herbs de Provence, and Parmesan Cheese - they're super good, and would say better than a certain CB restaurant's crack fries. The small order was plenty for the three of us to share. For drinks, we started with wine, beer, and I had a mojito. The mojito wasn't my favorite - for some reason, it was really sweet. Second drink was a glass of Sauvignon blanc, which went well with the ramen. On to the ramen - I went with the Boo-Tan-E-Koo Pork broth, traditional wavy noodles, pork belly, poached egg, tempura, green onion, buttered sweet corn, chile thread, fresh ginger, sesame seeds. It was delicious, flavorful, and I couldn't get through the whole bowl (I took about half of it home). That was my first time taking ramen home, and would note it heated up nicely for lunch the next day. We will absolutely be back to try more of the menu!
