We visited the owners restaurant at a different location in Salida. We are visitors so we stop when we get to Salida. We loved this place, the food and the atmosphere. The restaurant was moved because a larger kitchen needed however we didn't know where. Now we found it. It's much larger and menu looks expanded. Nicky decorated and cozy. We were greeted by Trevor who sat us and waited on us as well. He was always available for any questions we had or service needed. We got a couple beers and ordered. I had shrimp pho and my wife had chicken pho. The taste was incredible ( I also enjoy a good pho ) and portions just right per size. We were attended to make sure our needs were met. Pawnee ( spelling ?? ) greeted us and thanked us for stopping in. She is the owner. She made us feel welcomed and special customer. Another couple of customers came in while we dined. We seen them get something from a cooler; so I asked what it was. Sticky rice with blueberries. I asked for one ( I've had sticky rice in Thailand before ) Trevor treated me to a serving. It was just like I remembered. Definitely will be back to dine again. If you're in Salida make it a point to stop in. read more

Came with a big group and it definitely accommodated about 20-25 people. Plenty of parking and it's across from a Hampton Inn. Easy access for us!! It may look small from the outside, but it's quite the restaurant inside. It's spacious and there's even a stage....maybe for kid's performances or karaoke night. I was really looking forward to Asian food, so my expectations were high. Since it was such a large group and ONLY 1 waitress, orders got lost and mixed up, and the wait was long! I was hungry, but also understand that one waitress helping us would take a while. Unfortunately, some were not as patience and had a little 'tude, so I apologize for them. I had the beef pho, since it was a cold night. There were tons of different orders, but my pho was okay. It was kind of warm broth instead of hot and who puts carrots in pho???? That was weird to me. We weren't offered all the right herbs and mints that usually goes with it, but assuming it's in a small town they don't have access to them? It wasn't the best pho I've ever had, nor was it the worst. Just not authentic. Also, it's combination of Southeast cuisine - a little bit of Vietnamese, a little Thai, a little Chinese, and from what I remember only ONE dish that was Cambodian. Everybody on our end of the table was not happy with their food. Some of the ladies weren't happy with their Thai Tea and sent it back. I didn't try it, but the owner came out and questioned it. mmmmm.....I wouldn't questioned why a customer didn't like it just because you made it. The food was great, a little light on the meat, but tasty! The server. From the moment we walked in, she was awful to us. Homecoming was the same night so they were busy, totally understandable! When she took our orders my friend asked "have all these other tables ordered already" and the server snapped back "we're busy, so it takes a while for food when restaurants are busy" Yeah!? No shit! It was so rude. The Men ordered two espresso martini's and what came to the table was laughable. Basically coffee grounds in vodka, no ice.... They decided to send those back. When the server came back to ask what was wrong with them, my friend said "that was not an espresso martini, but no biggie, we'll stick with water" She said in a terrible tone "this is a cambodian restaurant, what did you expect!?" We felt she could have just said "we don't do espresso martini's" when they ordered them, but instead they were met with that. Not cool. My husband and I had lunch here yesterday on our trip to Salida. Best food we had all weekend! The spring rolls are the size of burritos and a medium pho is more than you need! Quirky hours (Monday Tuesday and Wednesday, 12-5pm), but the food makes up for it. The fried Mandu/dumplings were perfect. Savory., meaty and hot! The raw beef pho was some of the best I ever ate. It is bountiful, so come hungry. A plus; they serve bubble tea!! read more

We were pleasantly surprised to find SE Asian offerings in the middle of rural Colorado, though we realize Salida is a tad more metropolitan than most towns. My partner had the beef pho (yeah, they offered pho with chicken, shrimp, and tofu, too), and I had the somlaw machew, a Cambodian sour beef soup. My partner felt the pho was okay - there weren't traditional cuts you'd normally find in authentic pho, and he felt the meat was too chewy (and not rare like you'd normally get). My soup was tasty - great lemongrass, tamarind, and turmeric flavors - but the portion felt small for the price, and the beef could have been more tender. Plus, the side of rice that came with the soup was not nearly enough, and I had to ask for more. Also, I had a spring roll, chose grilled beef as the filling, and was disappointed by the watery dipping sauce. All in all, it was a nice option in Salida, if a little expensive (about 50% more expensive than what you'd pay in Denver). That said, I was impressed that we could even get this kind of food so far away from a big town. read more

So sad to experience such unimpressive food in such a great location. In years past, the food seemed completely different. I ate the entire meal for both of us since my spouse was so disappointed. She had been looking forward to visiting this once-favorite restaurant in downtown Salida. She only picked at her bun bowl and described it as "a solid glob of rice noodles" with little else. She tried to salvage her experience by later ordering egg rolls that were okay. I had noticed a difference in the food in later days of 2017 before they closed in the F Street location, but our food this visit was even less impressive. Very happy Little Cambodia is now open Sundays! We stopped in and had phô and bûn yesterday - definitely hit the spot! Great flavors and friendly service. I added tofu in my veggie bûn and wished it had been chopped up a bit and was the puffy kind. However, it was very fresh. Hubby's phô was full of flavor and he enjoyed it so much he didn't share. Funky building but a fun place. Will definitely eat here again when in Salida. read more

The food was as delicious as the great aroma that came with a comfort and satisfaction I just can't get over !We got 2 Pho's; one beef and one shrimp. We also got the sweet chili wings and my hubby got a shrimp spring roll. The broth for the pho was phenomenal & we've had a lot of different types from basically everywhere we have been( this has to have been the best )! The wings were so tasty! It did not taste like some kind of bottled sweet chili sauce and even if it was they amped it up with some unforgettable flavors, the wings were also fried to perfection for a lack of better words. My hubby's spring roll was huge and he enjoyed it so much. The only reason I would give this place 4 stars and not five was for the one thing that wasn't too satisfying at it was the Thai tea. I love Thai tea and it was not horrible just not the way I like it. I think it was made differently and just did not have sweetness as I am accustom to. Overall I would say check this place out. It really is a pleasant surprise. We live in Alamosa and would drive up to Salida anytime to enjoy the great food. Hopefully we can enjoy the atmosphere as well when the virus comes under control. Beautiful location! Great ironwork in the railings and bike rack. Great to see this kind of local investment right along the river. Menu is short and simple. After trying the fried rice with shrimp and drunken noodles with steak we were pretty disappointed with the food. Thankfully it was cleanly prepared but underwhelming in flavor and preparation. Noodles we're undercooked and the fried rice was chared. They tried to compensate for flavor with red chilli peppers which was a generic miss. I wish the restaurant the best. We also may have made the mistake of just ordering the wrong thing. Everyone else than restaurant was ordering pho. Not sure I have the confidence to try again. read more

Service was slow and it took forever for the food to arrive and then it came to the table unevenly, with two in our party having to wait close to 10 minutes more for their dishes. Appetizers came after the main courses. Drunken noodles were way too salty and the noodles were very undercooked. Shrimp Fried rice was virtually burnt with crusty rice and only 4 shrimp. The tofu fried rice was the same. Considering the many options for food in Salida, I could not in good consciousness recommend this. read more

First time here in Salid, CO, walked across this little cozy restaurant, ordered Lemongrass Stuffed Chicken w/Broccoli absolutely delicious!! Crispy, mouthwatering! MUCH closer to 2.5 stars. This tasted absolutely NOTHING like any pho I've had before, and was run by two lazy teenagers and one steadfast white lady (that I noticed). If you have a Vietnamese food craving near here...just wait. You'll be more satisfied later. Great food, fair prices, and friendly staff! On the downside, seating is VERY limited, so you will have to eat outside or in the bar next door. A couple of points: note that Salida is a small town. This means it has no stadiums, casinos, or international airports but it also means that you are lucky to be able to even find pho. Keep that in mind since items are priced accordingly and the selection is not huge. The food here is quite good and the staff were very helpful, so give them a try sometime. read more

It's nice to see a pho (noodle soup) shop in the mountains! We enjoyed the pho, but it has less in it (like basil and mint) than Lao or Vietnamese pho. There also doesn't seem to be the standard caddy of sugar, fish sauce, etc, available to dress up your soup. Maybe that is because their stock is already pretty good. I am a huge pho fan. Before I moved here, I went out for pho or vermicelli 3-4 times per week. It's just soooo good, when it's done right. Let's start with the first half of my visit. I enter carrying a laptop. I was expecting numerous return contacts and needed to stay online. No one greeted me at the door, so I walked to a counter (turned out to be the order/checkout counter) and asked if I should seat myself. The girl asked me whether or not I was going to order anything, in a way that made me feel that I'd be asked to leave if I planned on sitting there to use my computer and not order food. (I drove from Howard just to eat there because the place has excellent reviews) so I order food and sit down, determined that even if the service sucks, I'll come back. I love pho that much. After some time, the owner (who was working in the kitchen too) noticed I'd waited for a while, and checked on my order. It happened to be ready, and a young man brought my spring roll and pho over. I had to wait til he came back to ask for a spoon to eat it with. The waiter seemed either overwhelmed or preoccupied. Still, I was determined that bad service would not keep me from pho. Second half of the visit involved being surprised time and time again. Every time I tried something else, I couldn't believe how bad it was. The Thai iced tea is watered down and does not taste like Thai tea. She offered coconut milk and that sounded good. Maybe that's why it was not sweet at all. Either way, tasteless and unsweet. The spring roll was not bad. I ordered a salmon spring roll because I've never had one before, but the salmon seriously overpowered the other stuff in there, as well as the hoisin and sriracha I soaked it in. I should have stuck with a more conventional spring roll meat. Then came the pho. Except it's not really pho. I suspect that their bone broth is powdered broth - not a good flavor, no oils and fats floating atop the water either. And I don't know if it was partially because my order sat before the owner checked on it and it got to me, but it was lukewarm. The noodles never finished cooking, so I'm leaning toward it never having been hot enough. There wasn't much of anything else in the pho either. No green onion. Few few bean sprouts. A couple of small pieces of dried onion. It was pretty barren. I did not try my Vietnamese iced coffee until after I left. Again, another fail. Now I've had iced coffee from a thousand different Vietnamese establishments and they all have one thing in common. Coffee and condensed milk. This drink did not taste Leslie coffee at all. And there was a pile of chocolate syrup at the bottom of the cup. It tasted like chocolate milk. Not coffee. Not Vietnamese iced coffee. Chocolate milk. I don't normally leave bad reviews. I typically don't leave a review at all if a place sucks. But I drove here solely because it has such great reviews. I see now that it only has great reviews because it's the only place in town serving pho. And I think that's wrong. I'd hope to prevent another person driving to this place because it has great reviews. These reviews are inaccurate, if you're familiar with Vietnamese food. The inside of the place is nice. You could have a good meal in that atmosphere. There are not a lot of menu items, but there is some variety. The service left a lot to be desired. The owner seemed was exceptionally nice and I am grateful that she checked on my food for me. The other staff didn't seem impressive either. A few feet away, I heard one server ask another several times "what number was the table with the old people in it?". It just made me wonder how they referred to me. The computer man? The ugly dude? Who knows. I won't revisit this place, despite my love for pho and their establishment being the only pho joint in town. They did not do anything right, and I can't imagine that that's a fluke. The locals do seem to like it though. They were still fairly busy when I showed up at 1pm. And that's great. I honestly hope they do well. The owner seems like a great person.
