My husband and I have been going to this sushi place for years and I have to say this is the best I know of in the neighborhood. They have a good variety of pre-made selections at their premises for grab and go or you can also order from the menu. I suggest you call in your order in advance or the wait time will depend on how busy they are. All the varieties I have tried so far have been great. Their prices are not the cheapest compared to other sushi places in the area and I'm not aware that they offer any lunch specials but I would rather have great food at a reasonable price than cheap mediocre food. This is my favorite sushi spot since moving to Forest Hills. Staff is extremely friendly and polite. Most people usually get takeout but I always eat in the restaurant and the service has always been great. The sushi itself is really good.. Much better than a lot of other sushi places in the area. I've only gotten a few rolls but they were all super fresh and excellent. Not to mention the prices are very reasonable! Much cheaper compared to Sushi Yasu down the street! I really like the little candies they give with your check. Yessssss! Sushi time I am oh so so sorry for overlooking you in the past. It must have been that one time I ordered take out and it was underwhelming but I take it all back. Why? Because of the dragon ball! They serve the the holy grail of spicy tuna. The dragon ball is delicious and fresh spicy tuna, wrapped in avocado slices and topped with spicy mayo and crunch. Their crunch is also like little pearls not flakes which makes it even more crunchy and fun to eat. Their rolls are also so fresh and service is the fastes I've ever experienced. The last time I was here was during the snow storm, we were the only people on the place and even though it's very small we felt like we were at home. The staff was so friendly to us and made sure we always had refills of hot tea. So nice especially since it was a freezing day so it hit the spot. I ordered the avocado roll and the spicy crunchy avocado roll. Both were fresh and delicious. I especially liked the spicy crunchy avocado roll because of the crunchiness on the outside. The sushi here is super fresh and the quality here is superb. Note that I did not dine in, I placed an order for pickup. The place itself is pretty small though, so I wouldn't recommend larger parties (and be advised that there is no bathroom available). Prior to my order, the staff informed me that it would take around 30 - 45 minutes for my order to be ready, I'm not sure if this long wait is usually the case (but fine with me because the sushi came out amazing; quality over speed right?!)-- this was before they knew I was in for 5 rolls. I definitely recommend their salmon, the flavor just oozes out and melts in your mouth; I ordered the salmon avocado roll and the special salmon roll. Yum! Anywho, I can't describe much more (other than the overall 4.5 stars rating being totally accurate), but I am down as a regular-- and they shall see me again! read more

I call it "hole in the wall sushi". Which might not sound appealing, however it is fantastic!! Not only is the sushi super fresh and delicious but the people that work there are so kind. It's so convenient if you want to just grab a roll from the refrigerator, which we often do, or you can order whatever you want, they have extensive menu of all diff rolls and specialty rolls. I love a ton of ginger, so they alway make sure to throw in some extra for me. We have ordered sushi for delivery from other local restaurants but nothing compares to sushi time. I continued to explore NY, traveling throughout manhattan and Broonlyn looking for great food spots but Sushi time stayed as my #1 pick for sushi. The volcano, spicy salmon, spicy tuna, sashimi.. All great, in fact I've never had a dish there that I didn't absolutely love. After moving from NY back to Miami 6 years ago , I've continued my search and still no place compares. It saddens me that Sushi Time is so darn far. Every time I visit NY I stop in for some tasty rolls. The fish is always fresh, the chefs really know how to pair up different flavors and ingredients, service is good, place is clean. The restaurant is small, only about 4 tables and some stools for counter dining, but if there is a wait it is totally worth it. What happened? Was it me? I came here on New Year's Day because Yasu was closed or at least, not picking up my calls. I was desperate for some good, but moderately-priced sushi. My search led me to Sushi Time. My friend remarked on the neon sign and how that did not bode well, but I trusted Yelp. However, even Yelp can lead me astray some times. Sushi Time is a hole-in-the wall joint (not necessarily a bad thing, just the most accurate description.) They have about three 4-person tables and a sushi bar that can seat about 8 people. I believe the staff is Korean. They also have a small area for ready-made take out sushi - filled with boxes that contain rolls, seaweed salad, regular salad, and/or sashimi. Okay, so we have been snowed in for a while, yes, fish is not going to be that fresh, but it shouldn't be this bland. The fish I had was thinly sliced, lacked moisture, and tasted like nothing. The rice itself was very, very off. One, it was cold, and I know that rice should be room temperature or warm, depending on the type of fish it is paired with. The rice also, either did not have enough sugar or not enough vinegar. Nevertheless, it was hard to swallow. I found myself unable to finish it even though I was still hungry. The staff is great and the decor is pretty nice considering it is predominantly a take-out place, but I will not be returning here - the fish is tasteless and the rice is off. read more

When I first moved to this area I was sad because the only good sushi was far away and expensive -- the nearby places were fine, but they all had the same rather tasteless fish. Then Sushi Time replaced one of the old places, and their fish is fantastic, especially the salmon. Apparently the proprietor gets up at 4 every morning and drives to the Bronx to get it (I had to ask). The service is great, the portions are large, and it's all very affordable. Wow! Who would have thought that this little hole in the wall sushi joint would be rollin out some super fresh and tasty sushi!? My husband and I finally gave Sushi Time a try and were so glad that we did, this will def be our go to spot. We started with an avocado salad, miso soup, and shu mai. I was expecting the standard small mixed greens salad with ginger dressing and boy was I surprised with they put down this very large salad bowl with what looked like an entire avocado sliced on top. It was delicious! Miso was very good, and shu mai was average. We then had the Dragon Ball special (tuna tartare ball wrapped in avocado) and OMG rolls both were great, they had a lot going on but all the flavors worked really well together and fish was fresh. It's....SUSHI TIME!! This is one of my favorite eateries at Forest hills because truly, the sushi is amazing- and you can tell the difference. They put something in the rice to make it a little more special and of course the fish and fresh veggies are always very fresh- even the little salad! I had the salmon box and that tasted particularly fresh. The large rolls are also... Very large! My boyfriend ordered the Amazing roll and although I'm not a fan of anything even mildly spicy, I did enjoy it very much. The miso soup has generous amounts of tofu and seaweed and of course, all portions are generous enough to make you full. It is definitely fairly priced. The staff is really really nice and gives you little candy when you get your check. They also do take out which is a plus for many of us who are always in a rush. Plus- they have ramune- a Japanese soda that is awesome- be sure to try if you haven't yet. The only thing I do not like about this place is that it is somewhat slow (it's alright because I get it- tasty food takes much preparation!) but it is also just too small. But it's like many of the local eateries- small and crowded but there's gotta be a reason why it's crowded- people love it. If you don't mind waiting a bit to get a seat I assure that it is totally worth your time. I would try to come here at a time that may not be so crowded. I would also not recommend any more than like four people coming here as a group- it just cannot accommodate that many people as I believe their largest table can seat 4 people unless you want to sit right by the sushi bar (that may not have 6 unfilled seats by the time you get there). No matter when I call to order or go in person, they are always buzzing, so it seems like the fish has a high turn over. The staff is so friendly and you are always greeted warmly when you enter. If you are in a hurry, there is a nice selection of Grab & Go items to choose from. The standard rolls, like eel avocado, white roll, spicy crunchy tuna are probably my favorites. By far the best sushi in the area. I work in Kew Gardens and the Sushi places around there are *awful*. This restaurant is a nice walk or quick subway stop away. The food is great for the price and they have magazines like US Weekly (guilty pleasure that I refuse to buy). So, you can have your sushi and read trashy magazines for lunch! Being a sushi fanatic, I am super specific about my sushi and I really cannot say that it is anywhere close to the best I ever had. However, our rolls were fresh and service was good.
