Avocado Rolls
Martina C.

My guy and I came here for a brief Date Night and I have to say I was WOWED by the service. Like our drinks were never empty, I got THE most beautiful and fresh avocado rolls, I felt spoiled!! The prices are SO worth it when you consider that your food is being made right in front of you and it's always fresh. Absolutely LOVE Sushi Town!!! It's the best for value, service and such great food!

Sushi.

Enjoy the people here that work hard. The awareness is above normal, there's nothing but compassion here.

A casual revolving sushi restaurant. You can also order from the menu. The sushi offered is all the standard varieties. The employees I interacted with were nice and gave me an accurate time for how long I would have to wait for my order. There are chairs to sit in for waiting for take out. The food was presented well and tasted good. The prices were a bit more expensive than Akira Sushi, another casual revolving sushi restaurant, which has more unique options.

Solid conveyer belt sushi! Fresh, fast, and they have Tamari for us GF folks. The Firestorm roll was particularly delicious specialty, and salmon nigiri (my go-to), was buttery good.

I ate this roll before I could take a picture

Today I decided to take a mental health day. After taking my son to D-Bat I tagged my daughter out and we went to try a new (at least for me) sushi train restaurant. Walking in, was kind of empty but it I was about 12:45. The restaurant is very welcoming with upbeat music playing on the intercom. We sat ourselves and then the adventure began. 1) Fire Storm Rolll---Great flavor and amazing heat. Jalapeños are fresh with seeds and not pickled, however there was a lot of white pith left. Salmon is fresh and delicious. Spicy mayo also adds some extra heat 2) Hawaiian Roll: Rice is very well cooked. Tuna has good flavor, but the texture was a little mushy but still palatable. Crab salad is fresh and delicious. Avocado adds a creamy aspect. 3) Tuna Takatii--this is not a usual style of sushi that I get, but I couldn't resist because it looked so good. The tuna had a peppery flavor but there was also a surprising sweetness (sliver of fried garlic) to it as well which balanced it. 4) Oregon Roll- Finished the meal with a basic roll. Salmon was delicious. Crab salad and cucumber added an additional flavor profile. Nick was preparing rolls in front of us the whole time my daughter and I were talking and he interjected (politely) lots of answers to questions that we had This is most definitely my new go to sushi track restaurant

The "Ryan special"; what they'd served my coworker, Ryan, when he was visiting from Michigan

Adding back on the old review to share some photos we took and knowledge we learned tonight! Obeth and Nick are the men behind the counter killing it every time we're there. Today we found they make some specialty options that are, somehow, even more amazing than the standard menu. We learned tonight that Obeth is behind the music in the place, keeping the upbeat vibes of the spot- one of our favorite parts of the restaurant. And, we learned that Nick and his wife both work there- she works the front of the house- and they introduced us to mochi ice cream tonight. We loved it, like we do them and their energy. We will tell everyone who will listen to visit! Best sushi track in the Portland area!

Once we stepped inside, we were immediately struck by how beautiful the decor was. From the cherry blossom tree with seating built around it, to the wood-and-paper accents, to the elegant wall screen and custom dining tables--everything felt thoughtfully designed. Our dining experience truly felt luxurious, like a little slice of Japan right here at home. Service was excellent as well. Our waitress was friendly, patient with our questions, and quick to bring out our sushi and water. Even the water bottle was a gorgeous textured design--such a nice touch. The menu offers giant specialty rolls, nigiri, and smaller rolls, with photos of most items except the small rolls, which made ordering easy. There's plenty of seating inside, but definitely check the hours before you go. They close at 2:30 pm and reopen at 5 pm, and we've been caught arriving too late before. This restaurant may be a small local chain, but everything tastes incredibly fresh and is made to order. They also offer bento boxes and daily specials, giving lots of great options no matter what you're in the mood for. A fantastic experience all around--highly recommended!

At sushi restaurants our younger child usually only eats plain rice, and our older one is a picky eater who will eat a little chicken. We initially asked to order the kids teriyaki chicken for our older child but were told the kids menu is only for 7 and under. Since we do have a 5 year old, we ordered the kids meal for her and a side of rice. When the food arrived and we placed the chicken in front of our 10 year old and the rice in front of our 5 year old, there seemed to be some confusion among the staff, which created an awkward and uncomfortable moment for us. In the end our 10 year old only ate a few pieces of chicken and our 5 year old had a little rice, which is exactly why we ordered the smaller portions. It caught us off guard since we did have a child under the age limit at the table and were ordering plenty of food, and families often share plates. A little flexibility or discretion in situations like this might help avoid making families feel uncomfortable. That said, the staff were genuinely very kind and accommodating overall, and very sweet as we were leaving. Overall a beautiful space with very nice staff.

Seaweed Salad (3/5): Fine and fresh, but pretty average. Sake Nigiri (3/5): Okay, but a bit heavy on the rice compared to the fish. Grilled Steak Roll (3/5): Steak, avocado, and cheese. It was fine, but the cheese flavor was too strong and there was too much rice, which took over the bite. Seared Salmon (5/5): Wow. This was the highlight of the meal. Very tender, perfectly seared, and full of flavor. This alone is a reason to come here. Smoked Salmon (3.5/5): Good and nicely balanced, with fish that was not too thick and a decent amount of rice. Edamame (3.5/5): Beans were good inside, though the pods were a bit firm and cooler than expected. Service: Friendly and helpful, always with a smile. Ambiance: Small cafeteria-style setting with rotating sushi on a conveyor belt. Simple, casual, and good for a quick meal. Overall, some items were just okay, but the seared salmon really stood out and made the visit worthwhile. I would come back for that and try a few other plates.

The service was fast plenty of seating during lunchtime and the pieces, although a little pricey were very generous. My favorite orders are the Cream o scallops, Salmon Nigiri, and Seared Salmon, HIGHLY RECOMMEND ORDERING THESE! My orders were made fresh by the sushi chef but you can always grab a plate off the belt. They gave really good portions of fish to rice ratio when I came in on a Thursday noon. I came in during Happy Hours, best value and highly affordable! $3.25 per order is hard to come by in this economy especially for the good quality they have. It's must go if you work from home to stop by during happy hours for this insane good deals! Staff were very attentive to me, always checking in on me and refilling my water. The waitress took my orders and it like 3 minutes later they were already made. Again, I recommend going here for good quality delicious conveyor belt sushi!

Their menu is pretty large, with so many options to choose from if you're not really wanting sushi or just wanting to change it up a bit. We were sat down pretty promptly for a walk in at 6 pm! The space was nice to sit down with friends and loved ones for a bite to eat. We came starved, so we practically ordered the whole menu hahah. Nigiri: the salmon was superb. Very sweet, melt in your mouth, perfect mouthfeel! That was our first bite of the day and it really set the tone for the rest of what we ordered. We then had the kanpachi, madai, escolar, and ikura. I really enjoyed the madai and the escolar. Those were both buttery but had a great texture/chew. The kanpachi was fine, I wasn't expecting it to be slightly charred, but that's a personal preference! Next was the ika and the Hokkaido scallop. The Ika was delicious! Everywhere I go I always order the ika, and the Ika here was just as tasty and chewy. They added a shiso leaf with it, giving it more of a different flavor profile, slightly spiced/bitter. But I quite enjoyed that. The Hokkaido scallop was soo incredibly tasty. It was soft, bouncy, and sweet! No fishiness that can sometimes be found with scallops imo. Lastly for nigiri we got the spot shrimp. I thought this was just okay, similar to how I felt about the ikura. Not bad but there were better hits with the nigiri we ordered. Rolls: hamachico was my favorite roll we got out of the two. The yellowtail was so light tasting it almost felt like a palate cleanser with all the food we ordered, it was really good I'd order this again! The lobster roll was okay, I think the chunks of fried lobster on it was great, the base was like a slightly more elevated California roll as my partner described it. It was overall good. Negimaki: this was so so juicy with each bite and full of flavor! Would definitely order this one again. Lobster karaage: the breading to lobster was spot on. These were large fluffy chunks of lobster with just the perfect amount of crunchy breading. Paired with the spicy mayo and the tartar sauce- so delish! Miso soup: it was packed with clams, enoki mushrooms, shiitake mushrooms, scallops, tofu, etc. the pot was PACKED. I didn't even get a photo, but I absolutely loved this. I'm not really a miso soup girl, but seeing how much others raved about it, we had to order it and I'm so glad we did. Best miso soup I've ever had! The star of the dinner was their ankimo, hands down. I've tried so many others, but this was so soft, creamy, perfect umami. I would've ordered seconds if we didn't have so much other food already. Overall dinner was delicious, and I definitely have my eye on so many other menu items to try next time!
