My husband and I love sushi, and we had been in search of a conveyor belt place that was comparable in price, selection, and quality to our favorite conveyor belt spot in Chicago. Sushi Tsunami executes it all well. Their salmon pieces were well above the quality of what we got in Chicago. They have a good menu to order off of if you don't see something you want on the belt. The only one we didn't like and didn't finish was their imitation crab pieces. The crab was dense and almost crumbled in my mouth. It was not a fun experience at all. The service is friendly and efficient. They seemed to enjoy seeing our baby girl and were very accommodating for her. I ordered her some udon, and they brought it out with a smaller bowl as well as some ice to help cool it off, which I greatly appreciated. They also brought out a small dish of rice for her at no charge. Sometimes it's the small gestures that make a good experience. We'll be back to support this place. read more

BEST sushi-go-round in Vancouver! My tummy is always happy after I get though licking all my plates clean. The only thing I could think of a a "negative" is that the refill service on my drinks is usually slow to non-existant. But I kinda like not being botherd during a meal. mediocre at best. i was really excited to try this place after reading all the great reviews. unfortunately, it didn't measure up to all the great things people have said about it. which only makes me scared to try other sushi places around here. rice should be at room temperature, not cold. and it was packed way too hard, turning into a white brick of barely edible rice underneath an average piece of fish. their specialty rolls weren't so special. and if you are leaning on your rolls to make yourself stand out, it means you're doing something wrong with the basic concept of sushi. i noticed a lot of customers dredging their fish in soy sauce and wasabi. if that is how you eat your sushi, of course you are going to think it's good. all you taste is what you made of it yourself. i wouldn't consider myself a sushi snob. i'll hang out at the conveyor belt with the worst of them. but this place just didn't get it right. i'd like to say we caught this place on a bad night, but it was a friday. that should be the night sushi restaurants shine. sadly, it did not. highly doubt i would give this place another try. sorry sushi tsunami. your harbor wave was more like a trickle of rusty tap water. read more

Unlike other reviews stating the prices seemed higher than other sushi train places the prices here seemed Par for the course. I came in the middle of the day between lunch and dinner & there were just a few people dining the woman working as hostess must have had way too much time on her hands because she seemed to hover behind me to the point of making me extremely uncomfortable! Sushi Tsunami is a great little sushi-go-round place in Hazel Dell. For someone who goes up and down I-5 a lot, it is easy to get on and off the freeway, as quick as any fast food place, inexpensive as sushi goes and pretty good sushi, too. I haven't picked up a take out order there, but have seen people drop in and put a to-go order together right off the conveyor belt. Service is attentive and the sushi chefs are happy to make anything that you don't see fresh for you. My one complaint is that they don't have as much traditional sushi as I'd like--although I think most people prefer the type of rolls that they serve. read more

The only place around here I've found that offers seared salmon. Fish portions were a little small, but the quality was good. Other nigiri variations come coated with a pepper rub which is very good. Only downside was the price - about $20 by the time I got out of there - a little high for what is offered. However, service was very good both from the chef and wait staff. read more

Really not a fan. Maybe we went on an off day, but the sushi was not very good and the selection wasn't great. I was disappointed because we went entirely based on the reviews here and it isn't very convenient for us. Sushi Hana on Mill Plain is more convenient when we went a quick sushi place and based on our one visit to sushi tsunami, Sushi Hana is much better at a lower price. Doubt we'll be back. read more

This used to be a good place. I hadn't been in for a while and noticed the prices had increased and the selection on the belt was very limited. There used to be a variety on the belt. I rarely ordered anything. Now they have only a few things in groups with signs. I pulled a couple of items and they were room temp. I wondered how long they had been out. I ordered an ice tea and they changed it to a fruity variety. Didn't say on the menu it was mango tea. Not good. I was quite disappointed with the overall experience. We love this conveyor belt sushi place. Best one in Vancouver and it is really close to home. The quality of the ingredients is outstanding and it comes through when you have your first bite. We we lucky on New Years Eve and got in right before the busiest time that evening. The food was great as usual and there were plenty of selections to please my youngest child and the oldest grandparent. My only complaint about this place is the serious lack of parking, especially for disabled people. If you are in a wheelchair or use a walking aid, go at a slower time; there are only two(?) disabled parking spots and the doorway is difficult to maneuver. If there isn't a spot in the front, the parking in the back lot might require a front end alignment when you leave. I have Sushi Tsunami's number in my cell phone now so that I can phone my order in and take it home during the restaurant's busy time. Maybe with all these great reviews they will be able to relocate (as long as they stay in Hazel Dell). read more

I usually avoid the sushi track places but we were starving and this seemed better than the options we were faced with. It turned out to be a pleasant surprise. You will find the usual prices of $1.50 to $5 for plates. I found that I spent a little more than I would have like only because something new would come by that I wanted to try. Been there 3 times recently and every time has been perfect, the sushi rice has a traditional flavor profile and just enhances the already fresh and tasty fish. My personal favorite is the seared albacore, my fiance will get the salmon belly and eat 10 plates of just that. The rice really makes a huge difference. I have been here many times with my kids, unfortately. It's close to home and the kids like udon noodles. I seem to regret it more each time and I'm happy to say we will never be going back. Not only is the food terrible, the service is equal or worse. Their "crab" substance they put in nearly every overpriced roll is mainly a glob of mayonnaise. They do not like when you order what isn't going around on the belt. The older tall lady is the worst server ever. I'm a newbie to sushi for sure,but I sure as Hell love this place!The service is always top-notch,and everyone is friendly and attentive.Some of the other yelpers are whiny about the imitation crab meat they use.Real dungeoness crabmeat goes for near $30 PER POUND....Basically,you get what you pay for.Their miso soup is hot and yummy,and all the food is fresh.If theres something you like that you don't see,they will happily make it for you.I've actually brought in fresh spring salmon,and crab that I've caught.Of course I always bring in extra to give to them.They are always appreciative,and have come up with some delicious concoctions! read more

Love this place! They have stuff here that I can't get at other sushi places. Also they are owned by some Korean ladies who are super sweet and friendly! Have a saki bomb! Or three!
