Honestly, a mixed bag. On our way back to Portland, we stopped in for a conveyor belt sushi dinner after a day in Oregon City. The host was friendly and we were seated right away. [[HIGHLIGHT]]We were sitting on the far side of the conveyor ramp in a booth and the area of the space to our right, including the bathroom, was pretty grimy and could use a deep cleaning.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]There was a soda and tea station near us that had dirty cloth towels strewn around and a couple of half-filled cups that looked like they had been sitting out for awhile.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Surprisingly, we stayed. Sushi Valley Oregon City First off this review is for Take-Out only, which in my opinion Sushi Valley does best, and it is less than 10 minutes from my house. I do not give out 5 star reviews lightly. [[HIGHLIGHT]]This restaurant is basically in a strip mall and the ambiance looks and feels like a strip mall restaurant, to have any other expectations is unrealistic and unfair.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] This restaurant has been here for a long time and has gone through a lot of changes over the years. Mainly for me there has been a significant improvement in fish quality and consistency in preparation. The Nigiri Sushi is a bargain at this price point and fish quality level. No other sushi restaurant within 25 minutes of my house can match it (and they all have unacceptable fish quality for Nigiri Sushi). This includes sushi restaurants right across the river in West Linn and any other sushi restaurants in Oregon City (including food trucks). No sushi restaurants in Clackamas that I have found have better fish quality at this price point and not worth the drive. Bottom Line: Sushi Valley is highly recommended as it is the only acceptable sushi restaurant (due to fish quality) in Oregon City and the Nigiri Sushi is a bargain at this price point. "Abandon all hope ye who enter here." The owner is ignorant of customer satisfaction and common courtesy. I have been here twice, and every single time, the owner has been rude in taking orders and has gotten into a screaming match with customers who stated any opinion that did not come directly from her own mind. I witnessed the owner slam food into someones chest when giving them their order, and then proceeded to chase them outside and try to start a fight after the customer simply winced in pain. This is extremely unprofessional and undeserving of a successful business let alone future. 0 Stars is the only appropriate rating, but unfortunately, everyone gets 1 star for opening a business. read more

I don't understand the hate that this place is getting with some of these reviews. I come here at least once a month with my 5 year old son and the sushi is ALWAYS fresh and yummy. The owner is always so friendly and chatty with us. We went in today and she checked on us several times during lunch. She's even friendly when I go in there to pick up orders when I am doordashing. I have eaten here a handful of times and had a fine experience. I will however never be back based on my experience today. The owner was SO RUDE, unprofessional and threatening to me. Today I went in to ask if I could use their restroom, the employee didn't understand me and proceeded to walk to the back. I motioned at the restroom when he came back out and just went in to use it, assuming it would be fine. When I came back out the owner was loudly yelling at the employees (I assumed about me) with her back to me so I just walked out. A minute later she followed me into T Mobile, where I was, and scolded the T Mobile employee helping us there, telling her not to send her customers there to use the bathroom. I explained to her that I had asked first but she said her employees don't speak English. Obviously there are far nicer, more respectful ways to enforce a no public restroom policy that would have left me feeling comfortable supporting this business but she chose aggression instead. My mom has been bringing my young daughter here for frequent sushi dates and has commented that she wants to find a new place because the owner is so mean to her employees. With all of these experiences, no one in my family will be back to either of their restaurants and I will tell other locals. read more

I love it when we try a sushi place and their hot selections are actually hot and the cold selections are cold! We've been to many that this wasn't the case but we were pleasantly surprised here. They had a nice variety to choose from with fresh things being added the whole time we were there. They had an equal selection of all the differently priced plates as well. They even had cheesecake for dessert! It's totally worth the extra $1+ to grab a plate of strawberries to add on top of the cheesecake too. The staff was super friendly. When our hostess noticed I had 3 teenagers with me she immediately put in extra orders of gyoza, egg rolls, wontons and fried shrimp. They were being added to the line within minutes of us washing our hands, getting seated and looking over the selections. She came over to let us know more was coming because she knows younger people tend to really like those items, and she's 100% right! The sushi chef working at the line didn't mind me asking a couple of times what certain things were either. Some chefs will get a little irritated when you ask them questions but this gentleman was very helpful. There's even more offered on the train than what's shown on the price list menu. Everything tasted fresh and yummy. So glad we popped in here on a whim to try it out. We'll definitely be back for more. read more

The prices for ramen are ridiculous. First you start with $16 and then they charge you another $2 for noodles, $2 for GREEN ONION. etc etc. by the time you get all your toppings you'd be paying $20 for a bowl of ramen. Their dumplings were ok, nothing amazing in terms of flavor. Also the egg rolls had barely any filling and mostly breading. I'm wondering too if they're just previously frozen and then fried. I came in to pick up a DoorDash order for a customer and asked one of the gentleman who was working if they had a restroom, he kindly pointed it out to me (while I was waiting for them to finish my order) and as I'm walking back to the restroom the lady behind the counter hollered at me from across the restaurant that it's for "customer use only" I was appalled.... Happened by here during lunch, and wished I had gone down the road to another sushi spot. Honestly, the problem was not the food -- it was the service. The belt sushi was ok, nothing exciting. We tried to order specialty rolls but the chefs were busy with to-go orders, and the staff completely ignored everyone. The host sat behind his little desk on his phone the entire time, not even asking if we wanted water or anything to order. Just sat us down and went back to his phone. There was one more person serving but they were in the back most of the time. It could be a really great spot, but the service needs a major revamp. My only thought upon exiting was that I was still hungry and would most likely never return. read more

Sliding slope and pretty down here at Sushi Valley. It's been quite a while since our last visit and things have gone a bit South for me. Firstly, the establishment was very dirty. The condiment keepers, tables, belt and especially the floor. Everything was chipped, cracked or had something stuck to it. Our server was nice though. Reasonably attentive. As usual, the chefs completely ignore the diners. The belt was duplicate after duplicate. The few we tried were so horribly gummy and messy. It was a shame. It was as if there was no pride there. We waited for Nigiri and eventually we got some though it was only being put out just as we were about to leave. Sadly, it wasn't exceptional, mearly passing. Sushi Valley is a place that was once high on the sushi belt chain list. Belts are popular, they have been since the huge sushi boom over a decade ago. The first time I got food from here a few months ago I ordered it online and had no problem. I thought the quality was fine for the price. This time I called in the order and when I arrived 10 minutes after it was supposed to be ready the order wasn't done. From what I could tell, the woman I spoke with on the phone didn't put in the order. It certainly wasn't because they were busy on a Monday night as there were only a couple of people in the restaurant. I really wanted to like this little gem in OC but 9pm is apparently NOT the time to stop by. The tables were dirty although they were being cleaned when we arrived. There was still an hour before close and there were 15-20 patrons. You would think that would be enough people to put sushi on the revolving track but they only had "hot" food. I use that term lightly as I'm sure they started hot but we're bone cold when I tried them. I had to go to the front to get a sheet to order after sitting for 10 minutes trying to get someone's attention to order (wouldn't have been an issue if there was food on the conveyor). Buyer beware! I haven't eaten here for 6mos to a year or more and I used to be a regular but then Covid happened and we couldn't dine in and sushi isn't very good on the go. I was not aware that we'd have to pay for full rolls of sushi rather than just the pieces that normally come on plates. I did ask over the phone how many pieces would come per order so I was under the impression I was ordering plates. When I got there to pay the bill, I was super disappointed to find out i was being charged $100 for full rolls of sushi and misled that I wasn't given this information when I placed the order over the phone or I would have ordered way less. The order was for 2 adults and a tween with a smaller appetite. It was way too much food and way too big of a bill. I hope the order was worth it because it will be our last time eating here, unfortunately. I do not appreciate being misled by any business. read more

So disappointed in this place. Put in an order with Uber eats, got tempura jalapeño, a tiger roll, red dragon roll, and an ichi roll. The tiger roll and the red dragon roll both have tempura shrimp in them, but the tempura was empty. And they both had a horrible bitter dirt taste to them. Didn't feel safe to even eat it. I used to love this place, I get an order to go at least once a week. The regular staff are great and follow the new rules and laws. But an older guy  probably in his late 40s. He came in without a mask, didn't wash his hands....started giving orders to the other staff....standing right over the rice, fish, and veggies while talking, without a mask. Then he started helping with the orders without gloves or a mask. He handed me my order and I asked to please put on a mask...He looks at me and just smirks and went on helping people.
