Loved this place when it first opened. Now the prices keep increasing and the service isn't good. Asked for salmon (not the salmon belly) which they gave me on red plates, not blue. The menu shows salmon is a blue plate. Red is $0.50 more expensive, so I asked for them to charge me for 3 blue plates instead. They said maybe the price changed and there's nothing they could do. Really??? I pointed out an obvious flaw, the least you can do is apologize and honor your mistake and reimburse me. Maybe you should update the menu or make the price increase very clear beforehand, otherwise you're gonna get unhappy customers. The chef apologized and explained, which I respected. Both waitresses were in fact helpless and rude and made me seem crazy for being upset and direct about the issue. Was a very simple fix. Will not be coming back again. read more

Tried to eat here twice in covid times as they are my closest sushi. However, long waits, over priced solutions and failing cleanliness is a combination for me not to return. Considering, it is 1 of 2 sushi joints in OC, I keep coming back because its the only one with a stocked sushi belt. You walk in and seat yourself. The service from the 'high school kids' is TERRIBLE deer in the headlights, too busy socializing amongst one another. My most recent visit 10.5, I ate my entire meal.. no water, no offer of service at all. I had to stop the non high school guy, to please get me a water after I had finished eating. I am a low maintenance sushi belt goer. I like the crab puffs (light and crispy) the vegas rolls, and nonja roll. All are very similar to other PDX area sushi belt joint places. This used to be the go to place for sushi in the OC area but as others have noted it has gone dramatically downhill. The restaurant last time in was extremely dirty--food & greasy on floor, condiments & dirty rags on top of a cooler that looked like it had been on a river float down the Clackamas and ingredients all over the place in the prep area. One can only imagine what the prep kitchen looks like if that is what the dining area looks like--. There was no way they'd pass a health inspection that day. They tend to focus on imitation crab roll items with something slapped on top on the conveyor or deep fried stuff versus nigiri which is what I prefer and it is difficult to get the attention of anyone to order. We came a little early for happy hour which lets you choose plates of any color for $2, bummer because it would of been worth the prices we paid, the sushi bar is very limited on seating the sushi was fresh and they had some rolls I haven't seen elsewhere. This used to be our favorite place to get sushi but unfortunately today was our last visit. This place has gone down the hill when it comes to cleanliness and customer service. The floors and drink station are filthy. The floor is so oily that you can slide on them. If this is how disgusting it is in the customers view I cant imagine how disgusting the back room is. There is clutter by the walls. The condiment station is gross. The walls are dirty, there is oil and dirt build up on the sides of the benches.. It concerns me that if they dont care to take care of the things customers see how their fridges and work stations look. It took them 20 min to get our seared salmon done and we ordered the moment we walked in. We will be looking for a new sushi place. read more

I used to get sushi here all the time and was satisfied. My favorite was the calamari. I'm wondering if they have a new owner because I stopped in and got a takeout order for 2 servings of calamari and the recipe had been changed and not for the better, totally different flavor, texture and breading. The service of this sushi restaurant greatly depends on if the owner is there or not. When she is there, customer service is great, food is great, and cleanliness is better as well. Up until about three weeks ago, she was ALWAYS there when I would go. A couple weeks back it was strange that she wasn't there. My review of this sushi restaurant is threefold. One, the cleanliness of the restaurant. I've always noticed the floors being a little greasy, especially by the bathrooms, but I haven't seen that as much as a problem. Last time I ate in house, my girlfriend and I sat in the corner by the stacked plates. She said to look at the purple plates. The purple plates had a visible amount of dust on them, probably almost 2cm. I understand they don't use purple plates that much, being they are expensive rolls, but that is not good. When the owner isn't there the cleanliness goes down. Two, the food itself. First I want to point out that ordering food that isn't on the track is difficult. When it is busy it is hard to tell out what you want and very difficult to track down a waiter and when you finally do they make you feel like a bother. When the owner is there, the rolls are very neat and rolled nicely and hardly fall apart. For about two weeks now, the rolls have been very sloppy and are extremely delicate. And three, the service. The service is professional when the owner is in house, she treats you nice and is great. When she is not there, it is a totally different story. Asking for refills of water is a regular occurrence when the owner is not there and being treated like a bother is normal. Overall, I used to like this place a lot, but a few small things that this business executes poorly is gonna steer me away to find a new sushi place for a while. read more

The first time I ordered from Sushi Valley was a call and pick up. The man that took my order was very yeah, yeah while taking my order. I have to be very specific when ordering sushi because I have an extreme allergy to anything spicy. I made sure to say no wasabi please in my order. When we picked up the order there was wasabi on a lot of it, especially my portion which I was unable to eat. Don't bother even ordering the Tuna Poke the portion is a joke. Ordered a double portion and it barely touched the sides of the container. The 2nd time I ordered from here it was through Door Dash. Once again, wasabi on everything not to mention they completely forgot my Tuna Poke and 3 orders of mussel's. Door Dash kindly gave us a refund for my incorrect and forgotten order. We keep giving this place second chances because typically it is good food and reasonable prices, but I am tired of their disorganization, getting items wrong and not willing to make it right. Many of times we have got our order delivered or for pickup and missing items or having poor quality and they refuse to fix it when it is brought to their attention. If you have ever been in the restaurant while it is operating you will see how things get messed up so easily. Tonight was the final straw when we got our food delivered the "tempura shrimp" contained very little shrimp and was just tempura. And the two rolls tasted like Lysol or a chemical was in it and I was not willing to feed it to my family. When I called the owner was unwilling to do anything about it just telling me I was wrong. Been a long time fan of this place, eat here everyday after work, spent lots of time here. But today... they lost major respect. Apparently in the midst of COVID-19 they've transition into only making "whole roll" meaning when you buy 1 roll thinking it'll only be 4 pieces it's actually 8. This obviously makes the price double. The problem i have is that no where online do they make this "whole roll" concept visual not clear and in addition to that the person accepting call in orders does not mention one thing about "whole rolls", the only time you realize this is when you pay and your bill is doubled.. leaving you confused and frustrated as the employee point to the "only selling whole rolls" sign hanging on the door. AND ANOTHER ONE BITES THE DUST!! Well not really, but the food and service here are so bad someone needs to put them out of their misery. As my previous review shows, this used to be the premier Sushi-go-round in the area, not so much anymore. My long awaited, Covid interrupted visit here was yesterday. I was greeted by an incredibly cranky young woman who asked me what I wanted to drink, I asked for water an hot tea. the tea was served several minutes later from the conveyer belt and was in a Styrofoam cup with a tea bag, the water was delivered about the time I finished my meal. I asked for ginger and wasabi, she told me it will come on conveyer belt, which it did several minutes later. I finally had to ask for a cup for the soy sauce, she said I had to use little plastic dipping cups because "Dishwasher broken". That made me rather suspect of the rest of the plates they were using, but I put it out of my mind to try to enjoy the rest of my lunch. The only raw fish available was some salmon and Ebi (Sweet Shrimp) so I picked a couple of each as they came around, they were ok. I usually get one roll they have which is a deep fried shrimp wrapped with rice, small bits of fish on top and drizzled with spicy sauce. IT WAS HORRIBLE!!! The shrimp tasted like they just picked it up on a beach after a seagull regurgitated it. Ruined the whole lunch. I know recovering from Covid has been rough for many restaurants, and to be fair, the young lady working there was the only waitress and obviously very stressed. So yeah, maybe I will give them another shot in a month or two, if they last that long. read more

NO NO NO, Very disappointed with my visit to sushi valley today, the girl that takes orders wasn't even looking at me while we were ordering things, which clearly makes sense to why all the mistakes were happening, she order us two extra of each plate we asked for and then when we nicely said "no Thank you we only wanted one" she got really close to us and started talking to us in a very rude tone and Then proceeded to stare at us and give very nasty looks as she walked around. Not to mention this was towards my little brother and I kindly said "we got it, thank you" and she stormed off. Then the guy who was making the sushi kept giving us plates we did not order and they both of them started talking about us in foreign language while looking directly at us. Very rude, and the food was not fresh, and they have a very small sign saying "we charge for wasted sauce". And she charged me almost two dollars extra for a little sauce that was left. I don't understand the bad reviews on this place. I have been going for years with my best friend, and then my husband (who originally didn't like sushi and now loves it). In the three states I have lived in so far, this is the best sushi shop I have found! We have to eat here whenever we come back to visit family. I probably could give 3 stars for the food alone. I watched a server (the only one in the place) pick up a packaged set of chopsticks off the ground and put it back on one of the place settings/napkins. A minute later two guys sit down to eat and give the chopsticks to the server while saying "those are nasty." I'm guessing they were used! Yikes. Should have gone straight to the trash and to be honest, I should have said something as soon as I saw her do it. We waited almost 30mins for our order. After repeated trips to Sushi Valley, I have to take down the review a couple of notches. The servers are still very friendly, no complaints there but there are a couple of problems that bring the rating down. One, they have a bad habit of drowning way too many of their plates in their mayo based sauce. It is all over the place. It is so thick that trying to scrape it off is pointless. I want to taste the actual food, not the sauce. My wife won't even go there because of this problem. Two, if you want stuff that isn't on the belt (and likely drowned in the mayo sauce), you have to get the attention of one of the servers and ask her to ask the chefs to make you the sushi. It is a very inefficient way to do things. I don't know why they can't hand people the paper sheets like every other sushi place I know. Last time I was in it took a while to get the waitresses attention so I could order what I wanted. Then I decided later I wanted to add on another dish but it was taking too long to get her attention and I just gave up and skipped it. When they first came to town I was so happy to even have a sushi place I think I over rated it. The honeymoon is over and this is a more informed rating after at least a dozen trips there. A new sushi place in OC has recently opened up that is far better so I can't picture me returning here again. read more

I went here last Thursday to eat. Food was alright. The reason I'm giving one star is because my total bill was $13.60 and that's what I signed for. I checked my bank account and Sushi Valley charged me $17. I called and spoke to a women who claimed to be the manager Sunday. She said she would have a look through the receipts and call me back. I was hoping to like this sushi place...but I just didn't... Here you go: Pro's: Clean. Lots of options in various prices and most being pretty reasonable. Big portions per plate. Very nice and attentive waitstaff. Con's: The rice isn't soft and sticky like most sushi restaurants. I've been there twice, both the same. Although large portions, very little taste or flavor from the various rolls. They use seaweed in virtually all of the rolls. This could be great if you love dried seaweed. I do not. And most sushi tracks don't use seaweed in a lot of their rolls. Two stars is more harsh than I really mean for it to be, but comparing to other sushi tracks around Portland for my taste buds and opinion, the taste is below par unfortunately. read more

Tried to order online with the payment option of using my card because.. I did not have cash, we order to pickup, the cashier tells us they undercharged my card by 85 cents and says we need to pay the rest in change bc they can't charge less than five dollars for the card, fair enough was annoyed because we of course did not have the less than 1 dollar for the meal so of course we asked for a refund instead and tried to be as civil as we could. If it was just this... I wouldn't feel the need to literally create a Yelp to leave the review but... furthermore, what I assume to be the owner of the restaurant calls my phone to chew me out about wasting their time and resources. The service on my phone-in order was terrible. The workers were incredibly rude. I kept giving them my name, and they repeated that they did not have my order. After about 5 - 10 minutes of arguing, they informed me that they do not take names over the phone; customers are supposed to identify what they ordered. I never write yelp reviews but after my visit to sushi valley a few days ago I was left very disappointed and disgusted!!! This place is filthy!!! We were sitting in a booth by their "storage" where everything is just stacked up and "covered up" by little room divider screens- not a big deal but what disgusted me was looking down on the floor under. There was molding food, straws, dust, and a lot of other debris just sitting on the floor. The floor was also very oily and slippery! Also, the refrigerator which hold specialty drinks in the back had fruit ( strawberries) on the bottom which were covered in mold. I can only imagine how dirty the kitchen is!!! So gross! My family would regularly do take out here but after our last visit I will pass! This place would really benefit from a deep- deep clean! read more

I really want to rate this 3 or 4 stars for the food but while we were waiting for our take-out, we watched the only server (we were there on a Saturday night at about 7:30 PM) start to clean a spot where two patrons had just left.... the server dropped the rag onto the floor where she proceeded to pick it up and continue wiping the countertop and chair seats with the same rag! AAAAGH!! Thankfully we watched our sushi being made and packed up to-go right in front of us. Hubby really liked the avocado/cucumber/tuna poke mix that they had in a foil "bowl." Place is well-lit (actually a bit bright for a restaurant) but you can see what you're eating. Staff are friendly. We stopped in to grab something to eat before a movie next door. This is a great place to grab a quick bite before going to a movie in Oregon City. The staff is nice and the food is good. I would suggest going earlier in the evening if going on a weekday. When it's not the weekend, the demand is lower so less fresh sushi is made and added to the conveyor belt. Go past 6 p.m. on a Monday through Friday and the avacado on your rainbow roll will probably be a little brown. I'd still highly recommend Sushi Valley. It is good sushi and at great prices. They have Happy Hour from 2-4:30 p.m. for an even better deal. We will be return customers. read more

It's gone downhill..there's an odd cheap flavor to everything and I can't bring myself to come back. Someone also recently found a thumb tac fried in their gyoza which just freaks me out. The service is spotty, it's dirty all the time, and they put way way way too much imitation crab in their California rolls they should just call them crab rolls..there's never any avocado or cucumber at all, it's disappointing. Toki Sushi by Albertsons is way better so I'd try that instead. read more
