The red rose, king, and out of control rolls that we ordered were so good and flavorful, plus accentuated by their sauce pairings or distinct taste by the choice of fish. The food is decent but they have made very degrading remarks regarding weight. After my father said the food was for six people, they (a woman, we believe to be the owner) said that my father is 'a big man' and that the food wouldn't be enough for us. Racist energy.. My fiancé whom is African American went to pick up our order on Saturday. At the front desk there was a young Asian girl that was completely rude and gave him attitude the ENTIRE time during his transaction. His bag was on the counter with other orders ( directly in front of him!), she grabs his bag, places it on the window seal and pushed it towards him to pick it up. Even the other hostess which was a young white girl was confused at her colleagues aggression. Their sushi is disgusting. The special rolls aren't even using real fish. Look at the food die they are adding to a minced spicy tuna?!!! Wth is that ? Is that rice crispies or rice pate in that special spicy roll. It tasted gross and the real fish had some weird white 'mayo' milk mix that was also nasty. Do not eat sushi in Sparta - it's a joke. Update: I'm knocking off one star based on my last several recent visits. I've been here many times and it very clear to me that they want to get you out of there ASAP. I just feel rushed every time I go there. It's a good thing if you want fast service but unpleasant if you want to enjoy a date or a night out. I also went there for dinner on another visit and there was a man installing a new light fixture next to my table. It was loud and distracting (imagine banging and drilling noises) . The man was literally on a ladder a few feet from my table. It was really annoying. The sushi is really good though. I rather get it to go and eat in my car or at home. read more

Over priced and not great customer service. They rarely make mistakes, but when they do make an error with the order, they want you to bring back what you didn't order and buy the actual roll that you ordered (even though you were already charged for the incorrect roll). Not a way to treat a customer for over 20 years that has complained twice during that entire time! read more

Before Covaid this was the go to place in the local area for Sushi. The sushi was always super fresh and you didn't have to worry about them stretching the sushi like other places do. They are still busy maybe not as usual but since Covaid they turned the entrance into what feels like a little bank room where they grab your credit or cash and then hand you the food. Now the food is hit or miss. Some days it was as it is always really good and other days you can tell the sushi is older and I throw it out. I don't bother calling because they don't care about loyal customers. They just want the money which is fine but I think I mentioned I threw out 3 rolls and they know me as I'm a regular and it was just I'm sorry. No offer to make it right. I'm giving them 4 stars because people need to know that they are definitely not keeping their standards up to par. And there is no reason to because people can get sick off sushi that's old. read more

SUPER small portions, none of the sushi looks like it does in the pictures on the Yelp site anymore. Portions have decreased by at least 25% and all special roles are now only 6 pieces each. We order take out from them regularly and haven't dined in since we moved to Sparta during covid, but the takeout process is organized and fast. There can be a long wait for your food when they're busy, but they always give us an accurate estimate of how long it's going to take, so order well ahead during peak hours if you're hungry. read more

Sushi ya is by far the best place to get sushi in Sparta. I am a regular here and I order sushi once a week and every single time it's amazing. It's very consistent and I've never had a bad experience.
