I've been to this sushi restaurant several times in a short span since discovering it. My wife and I love it! The food is all very fresh and delicious! Highly recommend the Phoenix roll and the O.M.G roll. Awesome! And the hibachi noodles are fantastic! Best noodles I've had, especially compared to other hibachi places. Osaka sushi is a new restaurant in Whitehouse that replaces the hibachi restaurant that previously occupied the venue. The space itself looks to be redone and is much nicer than I remember it being previously. Though knowing the restaurant is supposed to be Japanese and hearing exclusively Chinese music playing for ambiance, did throw into question the authenticity. The service itself was good and the sushi was arranged and presented in a well-decorated display on the plate. The quality of the sushi itself, I would call above average. It certainly hits the spot if you're craving sushi. Though, if you're not into raw fish, you'll find the selection is a bit more sparse. The staple hibachi dishes are here (which again throws into question it's Japanese authenticity) and some lighter fare like negamaki. However, my wife was less than satisfied with those options. Ultimately, this is a great option for sushi if you're local to the area, but I wouldn't say it's worth going out of your way to seek out. Though, comparitively to the AYCE options nearby (as far as Somerville), it's certainly superior. read more

Updating my review. -1 star due to lack of decent service. Came here for dinner. Stood in front of the front desk waiting to be acknowledged for about 15-20 minutes. Lady was on the phone so I didn't say anything, thinking she will acknowledge us and tell us the wait time once she's off the phone, but when got off the phone, she not only didn't acknowledge us, she just walked away. When she came back, still nothing - didn't even look at us. We were in front of the front desk! Multiple servers also kept passing us by and didn't even pause to check if someone already spoke with us. I would recommend the workers of the establishment to acknowledge your customers. Even if you are busy, it does not take long to say 'welcome, it will just be a few minutes until we get a table ready'. I'm only dropping 1 star because food was still good. read more

Osaka was good--kind staff who made great recomendations. I had salmon nigiri with an Alaskan role. It was perfect.

More than sushi! I usually get the kitchen prepared hibachi. It's really good. The meat is always tender and tasty. Add a side of the best fried rice around. The vegetables are delicious, as is the soup and salad with their terrific ginger dressing. This place is not the former restaurant and owner, so don't be fooled by what it used to be. I skip the not so good Chinese restaurants in the area and come here. So much better. Give them a try, I think you'll like it! I can't comment on the sushi, not my thing. I was in the mood for sushi for dinner so I thought I'd try Osaka. This is the 3rd restaurant in this space that I have frequented in the last 20 years - Ixora (I miss their salt and pepper calamari), Yi En and Osaka. My wife didn't feel like going out to eat so I ordered using Uber Eats. We ordered 2 spicy tuna rolls, spicy crab roll, shrimp tempura roll, and a California roll. They were kind enough to identify which rolls were spicy tuna and which were the spicy crab (18 pieces fit in one container). When I ordered, Uber Eats estimated 20-30 minutes and it takes me 15-20 to get to Osaka from our house. Everything was ready when I arrived. They provided half dozen packets of low sodium soy sauce, two trays for the soy sauce, and two sets of chop sticks. There's about half dozen parking spots out front, two of which are handicapped. There is a second parking lot down the hill which offers an additional ~15 parking spots. I did not pay too much attention when going in to grab our dinner but from what I saw out the corner of my eye, everything was clean. The area where the hibachi was for Yi En was closed off. The next time I'm in the mood for sushi, I will convince my wife to go out and dine in so I can evaluate the inside. read more

Great. Osaka is a fresh take on Japanese cuisine that differs slightly from the previous restaurant that was in this space, "Yi En". The hibachi room has been completely sealed off, and they're heavily focused on sushi, hence, "Osaka Sushi". The best sushi in Hunterdon/ somerset county and I've tried everything from clinton to somverville from bernardsville to flemington. The sushi/ sashimi is so fresh everytime and theu have a massive menu of special rolls, regular rolls and sashimi options as well as big sushi sashimi combo dinners.
