Two things occurred last Saturday night: I was craving sushi and the Yelp app was down so I couldn't check in for my first visit to Sushi Yama just outside of the Castleton mall. I had no idea it was all you can eat situation and hesitated at first to commit to that as I don't usually eat enough to justify it. After looking at the menu which includes Sashimi, Sushi rolls, Hibachi, Ramen, soup, appetizers and a salad bar I decided to go for it. My favorite was the hibachi. The noodles and veggies were delicious!! I loved the flavor. The rest of items were pretty standard but good. Our server, Tan was very friendly and helpful. The restaurant is huge and nicely decorated.

I heard about this place on Instagram and went the same day for early dinner. It's in the old Houlihan's spot attached to Castleton mall. It's super dark inside - had to use my phone flashlight to read the menu. Weekends and holidays are $36/pp and M-F 11a-3p is $23/pp, which includes all you can eat sushi, ramen, hibachi, various appetizers, and a small salad/fresh fruit bar - not a bad price. You get 90 minutes per table to order as much as you want, so I'd suggest your group arrive at the same time. Soda is extra for $3 with unlimited refills, Japanese sodas are $4/ea, and alcohol is $5/ea. With food made to order, food is a little slow but will come out in waves when you order multiple things, which I suggest to save time. Our waitress, Joyce, was lovely! The appetizer portions are very small, which I appreciate so there's less chance for waste - you can always order more. The sushi quality was not bad - not the best in the area but very fresh and made to order. My spouse said the ramen was okay, the pork and noodles were pretty good but the broth just lacked any flavor. Shrimp tempura had a very strange texture but chicken tempura was good. I loved the gyoza and the dipping sauce - those were excellent. Really bummed the only salad dressing is ranch, the thick sour kind (not house made) but the fresh fruit bar was awesome, with fresh strawberries, blueberries, green and red grapes, honeydew, pineapple, and frozen yellow watermelon. You can ask for ginger dressing from the back (not advertised) but it's thick and brown, not the traditional kind - I wasn't a fan. The salad bar also has wasabi, ginger, seafood salad, seaweed salad. The hibachi comes in a kids size portion, again you can order multiple so I appreciate the smaller size. Getting it with fried rice or noodles is optional. The tempura fried ice cream was suggested by our waitress but it was terrible - very wet and mushy thick batter, no crunch, lacked any flavor. Overall might return, but with a soda, tax, and tip it came out to over $50/pp. That's not bad for all that you get but overall quality is higher elsewhere.

I'm a sushi lover, however during lent I make an effort to have it on Fridays, and since I've not been here yet, I decided to check them out. Near the mall on 82nd, so you have plenty of parking, just watch out for massive pot holes! Was able to get a seat right away, and they explained the concept of all you can eat (which I loved because I've never had it until today) for 35 dollars you can get anything off the menu (outside of drinks) if you leave a bunch of extras you get charged; which is a great way to combat food waste. I went to town and ordered a bit of everything! It was fresh and tasty, and I enjoyed my rainbow and baby tiger roll! Definitely will be back, and this spot is worth checking out; they also have other options besides sushi!

Sushi Yama is easily one of my favorite AYCE sushi spots in Indianapolis. The price is definitely worth it for everything you get; unlimited appetizers, sushi, sashimi (dinner menu only) a salad bar, and even ice cream. Every time I've gone, the food has been fresh, flavorful, and consistently good. The restaurant and bathrooms are always clean, and the staff is friendly and attentive. I'll definitely keep coming back, especially for the Cowboy Roll. I crave it all the time.

YES INDY FINALLY HAS AMAZING AYCE SUSHU! I'm from Vegas where we have so many AYCE sushi options and I always miss that when getting sushi. I want to get all the appetizers and extras when I go and this is the best way to do it. Sushi Yama just opened last month and the quality was great. The dinner menu is HUGE and there is even a self serve salad and dessert bar (with soft serve ice cream). Our server was so sweet, the food was fast, everything was clean. We absolutely loved it. It is outside the castleton mall so easy parking! Definitely come hungry What we ordered: Mango salmon appetizer (MUST) Yellowtail jalapeño appetizer King Kai Roll Fresh Passion Roll Dynamite Roll Crazy Yellowtail Roll Soo much sashimi (tuna, salmon, yellowtail and more ) Seaweed salad Miso soup Edamame Shumai Tonkatsu Ramen Tempura Fried Ice Cream And the self service bar options

Fish was quality was solid compared to other AYCE sushi and conveyor belt places in Indiana Sashimi available Sushi rolls has a lot of variety and not too much rice (forgot to take pic of menu) Nirigiri kinda had medium amt of rice Menu had hibachi, fried options, udon which was solid for a non sushi eater with us I like the mango rolled in salmon a lot, mango was perfectly ripe Not a fan of the sauce on the tartare, it's like teriyaki bbq sauce and kinda heavy ~$35 per person And I ended up eating like ~40 sushi bites which I think is very fair!

Unlimited sashimi for dinner with incredible quality. They have everything, special rolls, appetizers, soups, ramen, katsu, hibachi. Everything served by piece so you can have a little taste of everything or a portion for sharing! Staff were incredibly kind and did a great job cleaning in between customers and orders. The space is gorgeous no matter where you are seated, I especially love the lighting and decorations. AYCE sushi is a gift to this earth.

Food was good and the restaurant was clean. You can order as you go, we usually put in 3-4 things at a time so the table wasn't cramped. The portions were small for the appetizers which was nice so that you could try a lot of variety of options. There was a small salad bar, ice cream machine, and fruit bar that you could help yourself at. I only tried the fruit of the 3 but it tasted very fresh! Overall good food and service but since I'm not big on sushi it was a little expensive. The steak hibachi had great flavor and was a small portion so you can try multiple things. I ended up getting it twice.

I love sushi, and I love all you can eat. This restaurant is the best of both worlds! For a reasonable price (around $35 for dinner), this place offers great sushi and Japanese dishes for all you can eat. Highly recommend trying any sushi roll, fried rice, hibachi steak, and fried tempura ice cream! The food tastes great, and they serve it pretty quickly. We have multiple different servers, and Kelly was the best. She stopped by our table multiple times to check up on an order that never arrived and made sure we got it. She even spent 10 minutes talking to us, which was so nice. They were so open to feedback as well. The restaurant has lots of seating and can definitely host a big group. It's part of the Castleton Square Mall, so there's tons of free parking.

My husband picked out this restaurant for us to try. It's located just outside of the Castleton Mall. We came for dinner around 6pm and it wasn't crowded at all. Even if it was, there would be more than enough seating available. Lots of natural lighting during the day and a reasonable amount as it gets dark. Very cute set up. Easy to navigate. Our server was very friendly and service was EXTREMELY FAST. We did the all you can eat dinner and for about $35 we thought that was more than a steal. In total we had: fruit, salad, cheese wontons, dumplings (i think?), Cowboy Roll, Shrimp Tempura Roll, Chicken Tempura, Steak Hibachi/Rice, Shrimp Fried Rice, Ramen and Ice Cream Everything but the ramen was amazing honestly. Even though the ramen was a little disappointing, our server notified us before hand it wasn't the best so we loved the honesty!! Despite that, everything else was delicious. The Cowboy Roll specifically was very interesting. It was shrimp tempura roll with crab, mayo and STEAK on top! It was my first time having anything like it. I could go on and on about each dish but it was ALL TOO GOOD. My husband and I cleared every dish. We will be coming back every time we are in town. We HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Ran into this new restaurant while walking out of Castleton Mall and decided to check it out since they were doing a soft opening. Honestly, it turned out to be a great find. For an AYCE sushi spot, the quality was surprisingly good. The fish tasted fresh, portions were generous, and nothing felt thrown together. I also liked that they offer ramen and hibachi, which gave the meal more balance. Service was friendly and moved at a steady pace, and the space felt clean and comfortable. This feels like a solid option for family dinners or meeting up with friends. For a new place just opening, they're off to a really strong start.

Best feature compared to Shoya Revolving Sushi, nearest AYCE competition, is shorter WAIT for your food which is brought directly to your table rather than delivered by revolving belt. This is likely since it isn't as busy because it's newer and slightly more expensive BUT you get what you pay for because it offers more VARIETY! Especially for weekends, it's worth the difference!

Unfortunately, my most recent experience was not as positive, and I found myself disappointed--though not due to any major issues. When I arrived at 11 a.m., right as the restaurant opened, there seemed to be adequate staff and they certainly weren't too busy to pay attention to the two tables dining at the time. I have no issue with staff taking a moment to chat, but I wish they had focused a little more on the guests who were dining. We ordered green tea, which is served in a metal teapot. The protocol is that if one person orders it, they receive the teapot, and if two people order it, they get one teapot to share. However, what surprised me was that despite finishing our tea, no one came by to offer us a refill. It would have been nice for someone to ask if we wanted more, especially given that we had finished the first pot. I also ordered the vegetable udon, hoping for a flavorful dish filled with fresh vegetables. Sadly, when it arrived, it lacked any vegetables and was quite bland. The overall taste was underwhelming, which was disappointing, as I had expected better. I pushed the plate to the side, indicating that I wouldn't be eating it. No one noticed. My plate was hardly touched, and not once did any staff member, including what I presumed to be the manager based on his demeanor, come over to inquire about my meal. He passed by my table at least three times without asking if everything was okay. I would have appreciated the opportunity to provide feedback. While I must say that everything else I tasted, aside from the udon, was delicious, the lack of attention to detail--such as not offering a refill for my tea and not inquiring about my dining experience--left me feeling neglected. It was truly disappointing to leave with an untouched plate and not a single word from the staff addressing my concerns even after we declined the offer container to take home the meal.

The onion volcano, the flying shrimp, the chef doing things with spatulas that would make even a Jedi Master stop and pay attention. We know the show, we love the show, and we keep returning to this particular corner of the galaxy for it. This visit was different. It was a Thursday afternoon and none of us felt like waiting for a full hibachi table to assemble, because sometimes you want the food without the diplomatic negotiations of coordinating with strangers who are also hungry. We made the tactical decision to retreat to the regular dining area, which turned out to be one of the smarter strategic calls this family has made in recent memory. We each ordered hibachi dinner combos from the non-hibachi side of the menu. Steak and salmon, steak and chicken, and steak and shrimp, all arriving with miso soup and a Cobb salad with thousand island dressing that handled its supporting role with quiet dignity. The food came out tasting exactly like anything produced during the full tableside performance, which tells you everything you need to know about what that kitchen is actually capable of when nobody is watching. The show is entertaining, but the cooking doesn't need the theatrics to land. The Force is clearly present on both sides of the restaurant. Here is the honest Imperial assessment of Tomo. By strict critical standards this is probably a 3.5 star establishment. The hibachi script is familiar across the sector, the setting won't make you transmit coordinates to your friends, and you already know what you're getting before you walk through the door. But consistent, reliable, satisfying execution every single visit is a superpower that plenty of flashier restaurants in this galaxy cannot claim. We left full, happy, and already plotting the next mission. Five stars for a 3.5 star restaurant that uses the Force wisely and never lets you down.

The first waitress had trouble organizing the three different party guests' order. My transaction was not completely align with my Friends with Benefits account. My soup was not in my takeout bag so I asked just to eat another there so no spill. This visit ended with a surprise, future $20 off coupon in the shape of an egg. Because I love their daily lunch menu and their special offer, I decided to return for Easter, the following day. I finally bought a gift card with a bonus $10 for limited time use as I was having trouble using my credit card on their front keypad. My credit card company suggested using another keypad which worked. Oh, on holidays, they apparently have a different menu this time in the shape of an egg. Duck theme! How fitting for the occasion! I have been wanting wontons and oh, they had it with duck. My favorites! With interesting chili pineapple sauce. Wow. Had to try the 3 wontons for $16.50. Appetizer was made on the other side of the restaurant and bought to my hibachi table. It was unique with more ingredients like chives. The cheese might have overpowered the duck cubes. Glad I tried them. This chef was only entertaining with the train of onion. Service was not good with only one glass of water. I had to ask about the egg coupon as the hostess seemed very hesitate to pass out "upon my goodbye." Five stars for the food. Four stars for the service.
