Upscale surroundings and authentic Japanese hibachi, sushi and noodle dishes are served at Hino Oishi. I was craving udon, so we stopped for lunch. We sat in the bar area, which is quiet and lovely. Our server, Johnnie, was friendly and attentive. The menu offers lunch specials, and other entrees. Daily sushi specials were posted on a board, along with tempting cocktails. I ordered the Tempura Udon, which came with a salad, big bowl of Udon and a plate of shrimp and mixed vegetable tempura. The salad wasn't special, but the Japanese style dressing tasted phenomenal. The tempura was hot and delicious made with big tender shrimp, squash, onion and sweet potato. The big bowl of udon was ok. My husband had the Tonkatsu (breaded tenderloin with a sweet sauce) lunch. The meal came with rice and soup or salad. His miso soup was light with mushrooms. The Tonkatsu was delicious and filling with a light breading. A manager walked around but did not engage with people. Parking was tight during our visit, we actually had to park in back. I'd return. The bento boxes looked incredible. read more

Very nice and clean inside. Great overall atmosphere. The employees were welcoming. Our cook was playful while cooking and our kids had a great time. I really enjoyed the jalapeño tempura puffs, while they weren't spicy (which I was hoping they were) they had a great flavor. I got the chicken and shrimp combo. Well seasoned. Well cooked. The only thing was my hubby and kid asked for no mushrooms, and the cook forgot because he confirmed our order before cooking. Not a big deal to us though. My other kid loved the sushi. First time trying Hino Oishi and their hibachi. Our chef was not only very personable & pleasant, he also did a wonderful job preparing our food. The 4 of us all ordered various seafood options, (scallops, shrimp, calamari), nice size portions, and it was all cooked perfectly. He was also very accommodating to everyone's personal preferences: no teriyaki, no soy, some no butter, some sub coconut oil, no salt etc. Atmosphere is great, pleasant decor. Lunch specials are a must here-$18 for several items. You get your bang for your buck. Please try the lemon drop martini. You won't regret it. The ambience is soft, the interior is pretty dark, which is great for dates. There are plenty of tables for hibachi as well as private booths. The staff is always nice and friendly as well as patient (we tend to take a while to choose) since the menu is extensive. The sushi is fresh and delicious. I love hino oishi. We used to come here all the time when we lived up in Carmel and still sometimes come here for birthdays. I love their tuna poke. They have gluten free options as well. I'd say it's a lot better than other hibachi places like Benihana as I always feel full and satisfied when I leave. Nothing's better than a hibachi salad. We made a last-minute decision to celebrate my girlfriend's birthday at Hino Oishi. Even though we arrived right at the start of dinner time without a reservation, we were fortunate to be seated immediately. The waitress was fantastic, taking the time to explain the menu thoroughly and offering excellent recommendations for us as first-time visitors. For an appetizer, I ordered the Golden California sushi, which was absolutely mouthwatering and unlike anything I've tried before. For my main course, I chose the shrimp and steak hibachi. The chef did an outstanding job, especially with cooking my steak to a perfect medium. I was pleasantly surprised to learn that their dinner hibachi includes chicken fried rice. My wife and I visited Hino Oishi hoping for a satisfying sushi night. We were both pretty hungry and ordered a sushi roll and an appetizer to start. While the food itself was good, the portions were very small -- barely enough to take the edge off our hunger. We ended up spending about $60 and still left hungry. The quality is there, but if you have a real appetite, be prepared to either spend a lot more or consider finding another spot. Went with a group of 13 dined here for hibachi on a Saturday night. The decor was modern Asian themed in shades of black and red. The restaurant was clean. Service was fast and friendly. We had to 2 chefs and grills. We sampled tempura shrimp and calamari for an appetizer. Both were good. I tried a lemon drop martini and that was refreshing. I came here for my birthday and had the best sushi! I was completely surprised and delighted by every part of our meal. The miso was spectacular. Perfect for a chilly day. We got so much sushi! I couldn't finish it was and had some leftovers later on. I docked one star because our waiter didn't come around very much to refill drinks and ask how we were doing. Sushi at @ hinooishiindy last night. Sorry to say it's NOT WHAT ITS HYPED UP TO BE! ‍ The star of our meal was the fried calamari. Well actually it was the sauce that came with it.  3 rolls we ordered were good; Nori Roll, Yummy Roll and the Golden Gate Bridge. However the Seaweed wrap was extremely tough and chewy lol I don't know how that could be. Everytime you bite into the roll everything comess off of it except the seaweed. You had to tare at it. The dumplings were.... just not good Unseasoned meat inside, chewy outside and nearly cold. Service was Mid. He actually brought over the wrong order not ONCE not TWICE but 3 times smh. On top of all that our Tab was $100+ for 6 rolls and 2 apps. Usually wouldn't be a problem but it was so not worth it. Check this place out. Maybe you'll have a better day than I did. The salad dressing was on the sweeter side but great. I didn't care for the soup. I asked if they could make my food in the back (my only hibachi request every time) because I don't want the cross-contamination of the meat/eggs on my food. They didn't give me any attitude about it, which was GREATLY appreciated. The food was well seasoned. They even did a birthday presentation with the drums and allowed us to bring in cupcakes as well. The restaurant is attractive with all the hibachi tables to the left as you walk in and bar area straight ahead. The hibachi area has low lighting and almost romantic feel till you had a room full of people. If you have a large group, they have a separate room with an 18-top Hibachi Grill. Perfect for so many personal family or office events. The bar area has 3 booths and 2 4-top tables surrounding the bar and the sushi bar is adjacent to the bar with 4 seats. I ordered a Lychee Plum Martini which is Russian Standard Vodka, Hakatsuru Plum Wine and Lychee Juice. It was excellent and I recommend. As an appetizer, I tried the Spicy Scallop Sushi Roll. The roll was sliced and tasty but I wish it was served with a flavorful sauce. For lunch, I ordered the New Strip Steak and Shrimp Hibachi Combo. The New York Strip wasn't prepared as medium rare but rather medium well, it was on the tough side and no seasoning to taste other than the tasty sauce. The medium size shrimp were tender and prepared perfectly then topped with a flavorful sauce that was on the steak and shrimp. The fried rice was tender and perfect with a light amount of seasoning and the veggies were good, too. My server was terrific and attentive. He was prompt with each serving and removed dirty dishes quickly. He checked on me several times without being intrusive. I enjoyed my experience here but due to the higher lunch prices than other places I go, I'm not sure I'd make a point to drive 45 minutes. I would however, return with a large group and utilize their 18-top Hibachi Grill! If you live close, give them a try. read more

Came at 4ish for dinner and there was no one else there. They sat us at the end of the table but we wanted to sit in the center. They told us if no one else comes in 10 min then we can sit there. A perfect lunch spot for a celebration or just because. The three of us visited Hino Oishi on a random Friday for lunch and had a wonderful experience. Our hibachi master was really theatrical and was really flexible with a few ingredient issues (removing the onions from the veggie mix) My better half and I both had the lunch special which included a salad and a half sushi roll, and both were amazing. Never knew this spot was a restaurant and I pass through here quite often. You can never go wrong with hibachi or maybe you can. I'll explain my 3 stars later. I was here for a birthday dinner and once everyone arrived, we were able to get started. I shared an Margarita roll, which was spicy and delicious, and a friend passed around his lobster ceviche which was also good. My drink of choice was the Sexy Geisha. For my meal, I went with the combo filet and shrimp. Didn't disappoint. My friend ordered her filet medium rare and her husband medium. Once the chef handed over their food they weren't happy. They asked for the filet to be re-cooked the way they ordered and the chef whispered to another person and off the overcooked meat went and 2 new filet's came out ready to cook. The chef then began to cook the new meat and still over cooked the medium rare and once it was pointed out he said 'yes it's medium' and she said 'no'. He then said whatever under his breath and gave her the food. I heard him and another friend on the other side of hibachi grill heard him and were completely disgusted. He also kept looking at his paper as if their request was wrong, but it wasn't. Those 2 come here often for lunch so I'm pretty sure they will give that place a rest for a while. Other than that mishap, everything was good and the birthday boy even got a little fruit treat. I think I'll still to my normal spot for a while though. read more

They have regular seating inside to the right or hibachi seating to the left. They have two menus depending on which side you decide to sit on. Enjoyed a hibachi lunch - they offer a lunch special for about $14 you get a single portion appetizer- i had veggie tempura and hubby picked the gyoza - both were great - then you get to pick soup or salad and your meat - i went w/ salmon hubby had steak - the hibachi of course also comes with fried rice and veggies. This is about my 3rd time going here and I have never been disappointed! My family and I went here on Saturday night for Mother's Day and we had a reservation for 8:00PM and we were seated promptly at 8PM! You know this is a great place to eat when it is still crowded @8PM! Although I have only sat in the restaurant section -- and not the hibachi section -- I think that the service, food and drinks all crossover and therefore I am comfortable enough to review! For one, I actually love that you can get that fresh Hibachi taste without having to sit in front of a Hibachi grill -- I have never seen a restaurant that has both - phenomenal! Secondly, this place is very clean and I am always impressed by the look of the facilities and how well kept the bathrooms are! We started with Edamame, California Roll, a Spicy California Roll and Yellow Tail Tuna Sushimi. All of these were absolutely great but most definitely the Yellow Tail Tuna Sushimi was my favorite -- combine it with some Wasabi and a bit of Soy Sauce and it practically melts in your mouth. I opted to get the Filet Mignon and Scallops Hibachi. It came with a Ginger Salad and Miso Soup -- both of these were amazing as always! The Sea Scallops and Filet Mignon (which I ordered to be cooked at Medium Rare) were amazing and the Filet was cooked perfectly, which was surprising given it was sliced so thin -- so a big kudos there! I also got their house large Saki and it was honestly the best Saki I have had. Although I have only had Saki a handful of times - for some reason this was just the most palatable and paired well with my sushi and my hibachi meal. This is most definitely going to be my go to Hibachi place and I would highly recommend you give this place a try! read more

This place has been here for years but it's been years since I was here. Celebration for a birthday for a guy with many food allergies. They were so accommodating and cooked his meal on a separate unit so no worries of cross contamination. Our youngest diner was mesmerized by the showmanship of our chef and the only one who caught the rice in his mouth. The rice servings were huge per person. The salad dressing was loved by all. My filet was excellent and the shrimp people loved theirs too. The yum yum sauce was just that!! One ordered a dragon roll and it was huge and good. If I tell you to split between my debit card and cash, the rest of the cash is not yours. That is up to me to give to you, you don't just take it. I was pretty surprised that they just took it without even asking if they could have it so that's all they got as a tip, which was like two dollars. Wasn't planning on tipping anything after continuously, skipping my mom when giving every single person besides my mom extra food. The first time he did it I was like oh it's OK, the second time he did it. I was like oh that's weird and then the third time he did it. I was like OK so there's a pattern here. Treat everyone equally and that includes Black people as well. The only black woman in the entire room. Other than that , the service was OK, they forgot my dad's steamed rice. They had too many people running the table. Typically at a hibachi restaurant you will have the hibachi chef and one runner for sushi and drinks. In this case, we had three different people that had to approach the table at different times during the service. At one point I had called over a person that had serviced our table during the dinner and the hibachi chef said that he is supposed to be at a different table. And then he later came back over to take away some of our plates. The fried sushi was really good, but the regular California roll was kind of mushy. The spring rolls were extremely good and extremely crunchy. I've learned a certain establishment you should only ever bring cash to, and that was my mistake to not just bring cash because when there's just cash, there's no messing with your money. I'm trying to take my fiancé out on a nice birthday dinner and these people gotta be disrespecting my mom, my dad and my money. I was gonna give them a three but now I'm gonna give him a one. Fortunately, my fiancé had a good night and I didn't let all the weird stuff ruin it. It's funny I used to pick up DoorDash a lot from here like as a driver with DoorDash and they were always so rude that I would hope that no one was up there and that the food was just sitting on the table so I didn't have to interact with the people.
