I had a pretty decent lunch here a while back, while meeting up with my dad. I went to high school in Middletown, and haven't lived there in 10 years. The idea of having a sushi restaurant in Mtown 10 years ago would have made me laugh and laugh. Times are a changing! We ordered some shumai to start - shumai seems to be exactly the same everywhere I go. As if only one person makes it, then sends it to every Japanese restaurant in the country. So it was good! We then ordered three rolls. I forget the names of them right now (but they are named in the photos I uploaded!), but as soon as I saw the plate of rolls, I knew we had made a mistake. One roll was filled with delicious eel, one was filled with shrimp tempura, and one was a deep fried roll. What this meant was that the entire plate of sushi had zero raw fish! And so it was a very heavy & rich platter. None of it tasted very fresh, but that was totally our fault! Afterwards, we ordered a regular spicy tuna roll just to kind of wash the flavors down and refreshen our palates. I will say that everything tasted pretty good - with the exception of the tempura fried sushi roll. I have had a few fried sushi rolls and they were all great. This one was not good. It was battered with tempura, and fried enough that the fish inside became totally cooked. It tasted very heavy, but also not very flavorful either. I would definitely not order this again. Our spicy tuna roll was good! I would really just like to go back and try ordering better next time. I would imagine that ordering some more raw sushi would lead to a better experience. I read lots of reviews stating that service was bad. We did not experience that during our visit. The two female servers were very polite and friendly, and worked well together. read more

Absolutely amazing!!!!!!!!! They are taking the safest measures for covid-19, takeout only and you pay/pick up your orders via a sliding glass window. Food is so good! This place is amazing. The food is so good and the prices are very reasonable. You order all the rolls you want and they bring them to you in a large elaborately decorated plate. I wish the waiters would bring back the little paper you order from after they put in your order just in case you want something else, but they don't. They will bring you another if you ask though. The sushi chefs are great. I asked one of them (Kevin) to make an appetizer that is not on the menu, which is fried rice cakes with spicy tuna and jalapeño on top, and he happily made it without hesitation. First time I went, the food tasted old and the rice was stale, but being one of the few sushi places in Middletown I figured I would try it again , I ordered the shrimp Shumai and the it was just dough, no shrimp. When I asked the server about the shrimp not being there he was really rude about it and told me that it was in there when it clearly was not. Then he just walked away. If you like good sushi and a great atmosphere and in the Middletown area you have to try this place. It's a small spot on a normal looking strip mall that you almost miss in the mix of places in the area. The small quaint dining area offers an intimate setting with multiple tables and booths, while still offering a private large room for a big party and small pretty sushi bar to watch the rolls being made. Right now they are taking many precautions in reference to COVID-19. They take your temperature and offer sanitizer right as you come in, tables are spaced apart, and they offer a bag to hold your mask while you eat. I have been here many times and every time the food is perfect. This time we ordered the scallops teriyaki, don katsu (which the best fried pork with a BBQ type dipping sauce), monster speciality roll, crab roll, and hairy Mexican speciality roll and tuna roll. All of the rolls are fresh and plated beautifully, every time you order sushi they plate it like art and add beautiful decorations that makes each one feel special and personal, my friends roll even had a cute hi spelled in sauce on her plate! The monster roll is my personal all time favorite roll and a must try. They also are offering their full menu which is always appreciated during these times. I don't live in the Middletown area anymore but I travel down there just to eat here because I love it so much so again if you're in the area please try this awesome little spot! read more

I think this might have been the first dinner I've had in DE that was not at Dogfish Head! It was pretty good but I'm not going to go out on a limb and say 4 stars because our friends (who are regulars) had said that it usually isn't as good as it was this time around. There are a ridiculous number of specialty rolls and they all sounded really yummy. I can't even tell you what we ended up with but it was all very good. We ordered take out so I can't comment on the service but the restaurant itself seemed very cute. I liked the little private rooms that you can sit in. Food wasn't bad but wasn't mind blowing. When we first walked in we weren't greeted and waited a bit before someone noticed us and alerted a waitress that there were guests. Another couple came in right behind us and I think they were a bit annoyed at their even shorter wait. The Place only had 2 other tables with guest so it wasn't busy. Our waitress seems very abrupt but she did check on us many times during her service, and she commended our choice for the roll we chose. We did have to put our empty glasses by the edge of the table for a refill. We were there for lunch and both got a bento box and we shared a Saporro Roll. The Roll was GREAT! Really good and different from any roll I've ever gotten. But sadly it was the Best part of out dining experience. I don't really expect Michelin star food at a sushi place in a shopping center but the only thing edible in the box was the rice & entrée. The roll, shumai and veggies you get in the box were awful. The simple roll in the box was mainly rice, the veggies were over steamed, & the shumai was the frozen kind you buy in frozen grocer section. They served it with yellow mustard which was weird. And I'm not sure if it was that fresh, it was weird and tangy (w/o mustard). If we are in the area again we will give it a 2nd shot (only bc the Saporro Roll was good) and possibly try a dinner instead of lunch. read more

One of the best sushi places I've had in Delaware! Unfortunately, the service is subpar. They don't take reservations so expect a 30min plus wait during prime dinner times. Our server, Evan, was nice but wasn't very attentive. We had to call him over several times because he never bothered to check on us. I LOVE the sushi here, however, their service has really gone down hill. My daughter and I went to dinner here recently, we didn't get anything crazy and it took them an hour and 15 minutes to serve us our food. That wasn't even the worst of it, the plates they brought us I had seen sitting on the counter already made for 45 minutes. I just told them to wrap it up for us because we needed to go.
