I've eaten here many times over the years and I always get excited when the food comes out and then as soon as I start eating I am not so satisfied. This place is good as per Middletown standards, but not amazing in the overall. In a recent trip we ordered pan fried goyza that was so overcooked that it was dry and crunchy. It is very standard sushi dishes that are prepared. It's safe, it won't make you sick but it is pretty bland. You're going to need your wasabi that is for sure! All I have had is sushi, but they offer other meals that I have seen several customers have. Overall I haven't had any bad sushi here. It is one of my favorite locations. I live in Newark and have no problem making the drive for the quality of their sushi. I also haven't been to mikimotos or kooma in Wilmington. But based on friends and reviews on here I would say that sushi yama is just as good if not better. Definatley worth your visit! The staff is friendly and attentive. I recommend the Mexican Roll and shrimp tempura, but everything I've had has been delicious. One of the best parts of Sushi Yama is how reasonably priced it is. Sushi is never a cheap meal (if it is, reconsider your choice of restaurant), but for high quality sushi it's really priced fairly. My only suggestion would be for a bit more adventure in the rolls.
