Sushi You used to be THAT spot... but not anymore. Came back on 4/22/26 and the difference was night and day. The biggest letdown? The rice--dry, no flavor, no hint of that classic vinegar taste. That alone ruined most of the sushi. My sister's Tom Yum soup was a miss, but the pork gyoza was a hit. Chef's choice sushi was just okay, and the "free" California roll? They could've kept it. Nori soup and shumai were good, but the eel and tuna rolls had no flavor and didn't come how I requested. Overall... disappointing. Definitely not the same quality as before. Always a great vibe! Went last night (Thursday) around 8:30pm. The restaurant was pretty full, but we were able to grab our favorite table by the window. We ordered and received our food in a timely fashion. It was yummy as always. I always get the Spicy lover roll, but ask that they give me a whole piece of tuna inside instead of spicy tuna. Hands down the best Sushi in the Oakland Gardens/Bayside area. We order from Sushi You at least once a month and they are always consistent with quality and taste. Their Eel avocado rolls are my favorite. Their tempura is always very crispy and I appreciate that it's not oily. They are very friendly and have quick delivery. read more

It has been more than 3 times that I'm told 25 minutes and an hour later , I'm still waiting for my order. We came here for lunch during the week it wasn't busy at all. We decided to dine in and sat at the table in the front. After looking over our menus we decided to do some sushi but also hibachi. We ordered 6 sushi rolls which all seemed to be standard nothing was over the top. The hibachi my boyfriend got the salmon which he thought was ok but ultimately did not end up eating. I got the shrimp which I thought was just ok. I should have just stuck with the sushi. We also ordered the shrimp tempura and that was good crunchy and tasted good. Service was very friendly and accommodating - we got a Pretty Boy roll, but asked if they could swap the tuna for salmon and the waiter responded with a smaller "yes, we can do anything for you!" Location is relatively small, but the prices and value are huge. 3 roll combo with soup or salad is $15.95 unless it's lunch special for $13.95. The sushi sandwich was as good as my favorite place in Brooklyn is . And all rolls were fresh and nice fish to rice ratio ! The toro was so fresh and good . I came here with my parents on a Sunday early evening with only 2 other tables filled but as we were leaving this place was packed with dine ins and phone orders/pick up. We ordered a "light" dinner of avocado salad, spring rolls, agedashi tofu for apps and two teriyaki bento box. We definitely over ordered because I was almost full from the apps alone, oops. Avocado salad was delish, came with thinly sliced avo and ginger dressing on the side. Spring rolls (Harumaki) was a bit disappointing in terms of side - it was ~$5 for essentially two spring rolls. The salmon teriyaki Bento box was very filling and delish. Love that you can sub the shumai for tempura (only for $1 additional!) and that came with two shrimp tempura and 3 veggie pieces. Worth the upgrade if you're not a fan of shumai. Even though we only ordered 2 bento boxes to share (parents weren't too hungry), they gave us miso soup for all of us! Service was great for the number of staff available and all the things each person had to do to hold down the fort. what a hidden gem in Bayside - if you want fresh sushi and amazing lunch special deals this is the spot for you! anytime I am craving a sushi roll this is my go to spot as they have a ton of different rolls to choose from and the lunch special where you can pick two or three rolls is an amazing deal. They have limited seating inside in a while. I've never actually ate inside myself (i usually order pick up to go) there's always people inside eating and would love to actually try it one day. The staff is super friendly and you can see the chef preparing the fish in the counter right in front of you. But, alas, 3 stars because while we love their rolls for the excellent small rice to simple and fresh filling ratio - they need to up their game on items such as the Chirashi and Sashimi plates. The assortment of fish is limited, no creativity or flair and portion sizes are on the smaller side with the size of sashimi slices disappointing. My husband and I opted for the hamachi karma appetizer, 32 piece party tray (your choice on 2 rolls + 20 piece sashimi) and they threw in a free dragon roll with a purchase of $60 and more. They also have excellent lunch special options. They may be further than other Japanese restaurants around me, but well worth the drive for better quality sashimi. P.S.
