First time trying this local restaurant. Decent food but not quite authentic Japanese. My yakisoba with chicken was tasty but I didn't taste the yakisoba sauce nor was there any cabbage ( they used napa instead ). The combination was not too bad but not authentic. My wife had the bento with teriyaki chicken. It was tasty but not the typical teriyaki chicken that we are accustomed to. The tuna roll with delicious, however they must have use a smaller piece of nori as it didn't wrap around the whole roll. It didn't affect the taste, just looked odd.

The weather was in the high 80s, and it was only a 15-minute walk from my house. I came to Hachikawa Sushi today for their lunch special. Weini welcomed me in, and I was quickly seated at a booth. Lunch Special Roll (Served with Miso Soup and Salad) Miso Soup: yummy Salad: I skipped the dressing after Weini told me it had avocado, since I'm allergic to it. I ordered just two rolls: the Shrimp Tempura Roll and the Chicken Tempura Roll without avocado. When Weini asked about adding spicy mayo to the sushi rolls, I said yes per the sushi chef's recommendation. Mmm, I dipped them in soy sauce and wasabi. One word: Scrumptious Bookmark this spot to try!

Grand Opening of Hachikawa Sushi! This sushi spot has been open for less than 1 month. The sushi is fresh and flavorful. We typically order from a different sushi restaurant in Whitestone. Compared to our usual sushi spot, Hachikawa Sushi costs more, however in our opinion Hachikawa seems like higher quality, fresher sushi. In our opinion, the salad and soup at Hachikawa is less flavorful than our usual sushi restaurant. If you're going to order from Hachikawa - I would stick to the sushi. Other things on the menu might be a bit of a gamble - the sushi is where Hachikawa shines! Since they recently had their Grand Opening in December 2025, they currently have a 10% discount. I'm not sure how long this 10% discount will last. For takeout/delivery orders, Hachikawa provides an awesome little reusable bag. It would be cool if they can keep a discount going if the Grand Opening discount ends. For example, 10% or 15% off if you bring in a Hachikawa reusable bag? These bags are too nice to end up in a landfill so maybe that can incorporate it into their marketing somehow.

Didn't know this sushi spot opened until my parents got a menu delivered to them! They had a 10% coupon (also available online but there's a $1 convenience fee) so we decided to do a takeout order for dinner. At first glance, I noticed the pricing was a little more expensive compared to other local sushi spots nearby. we decided to try anyways. We got the toro scallion ($9.50) and eel/avo ($9) rolls which were good. The sashimi deluxe was good. I thought the sashimi tasted fresh. The special rolls were just ok - we got the Washington roll ($16.50), which was missing the cucumber inside and the tri color roll ($16). My brother wanted the curry fried chicken ($18) and I'd skip this next time. The meat was beat up and dry. The salads that came with our meal were pretty small in size and I wasn't a fan of the dressing. Overall decent spot nearby but I'd likely go to one of the other sushi spots nearby for a better bang for my buck!

Really pretty new sushi spot on Francis Lewis - super attentive staff, super fresh dishes, everything delicious. Was a quiet Wednesday evening when we stopped in for dinner. You could tell the staff was eager to please. Shared three appetizers, one beer, one sake, two mains - $100 including tip. Would like to see them do well!

A great addition to the neighborhood! Very attentive staff. Sushi platter quality surprised us. However the fried appetizers could be better quality. We ordered the oysters and the karage. Was disappointed with them. They were smaller than expected. Will definitely be back.

Heard good things about Hachikawa and decided to stop by for a Sunday family dinner. The place was spacious with tables that can be put together to accommodate larger parties. We had 6 so we had three double tables put together. Water was served and we also got nice cups of hot Green Tea (free refills too). Dinner Bento Boxes also came plentiful with free miso soup and white rice in addition to the entree (we had the Katsu Fried Chicken and Teriyaki Salmon) as well as Gyoza, Cali Rolls and small salad. Salmon tasted great without being too salty. Fried Chicken was crispy and not over done with a nice dipping sauce. Service was excellent refilling water and hot tea. Will definitely be back with friends and more family.

Decided to try this new spot after passing by recently and craving some sushi. The actual food was delicious, but I am gluten intolerant and stated that wheat was an allergy and said no gluten specifically on any food, soy sauce on the side. They did forget my spicy mayo, and there was no tamari or gluten free soy sauce offered. Unfortunately today I am feeling unwell, but my mom who also ate but is not gluten intolerant is completely fine. The fish was fresh, so I have a feeling there was some hidden soy sauce or gluten somewhere in our food. Overall, food is good, but I'm not sure there is enough care in gluten allergies.

After hearing so many good things about Hachikawa Sushi, hubby & I decided to stop by one night after work and I am so glad we did! First impression on walking in- its a lovely little oasis on Francis Lewis Blvd., bright, cozy, comfortable and impeccably clean. Everyone was friendly and welcoming. Service was attentive without feeling rushed. Prices were reasonable and portions were more than adequate. The food - so good!!! While checking out the menus we started off with hot tea. We ordered gyoza pork dumplings and beef negamaki. The dumplings were crispy on the outside and filled with tender pork inside. Add the delicious dipping sauce on the side and you have the perfect appetizer. The negamaki were well seasoned and deliciously tender rolls of beef and scallions. Loved them! For entrees, we ordered spicy tuna rolls and red monster rolls. The sushi was not only beautiful to look at, it was fresh and delicious. Trying the kitchen entrees is on the list for our next visit. Having tried so many sushi places around Bayside, Hachikawa is now number one on our list. We absolutely love Hachikawa & will 100% be returning. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for great sushi in a friendly comfortable atmosphere.

An Unforgettable Omakase Experience!…read more We celebrated the 4th of July with an incredible omakase dinner at Masaki, and it exceeded every expectation. Every course was beautifully presented, impeccably fresh, and perfectly balanced. From the delicate Red Sea Bream and buttery Scallop to the luxurious Toro with Caviar, Sweet Shrimp with Uni, and the unforgettable Eel with Foie Gras, each bite was a masterpiece. What truly elevated the evening was Michael, our sushi chef. He was warm, engaging, and exceptionally knowledgeable. He took the time to explain every course, the origin of the fish, the flavors, and the best way to enjoy each piece. His passion for his craft was evident, and his attention to detail made the entire experience feel personal and memorable. Dining at the sushi bar gave us a front-row seat to watch the artistry behind every piece. The quality of the ingredients, the precision of the preparation, and the genuine hospitality made this one of the finest omakase experiences we've ever had. Thank you, Michael, and the entire Masaki team, for making our holiday celebration so special. We can't wait to return for another unforgettable evening!

I honestly wasn't expecting much but the service based solely for the Omakase blew me away. The Omakase bar was in the back of the restaurant hidden away. The space was very open and the ambience was chic. This is a great place for date night, mommy night out, or group hangouts as they have private rooms too. Every piece tasted very fresh and were quite unique. The steam silky egg appetizer with crabmeat and fish roe was simple yet delicious. One of the dishes was an uni toro roll that was placed on top of our hands and was sprayed with edible gold glitter on us. That was a surprise and it was cute. And that uni just melts in your mouth. We had this matcha pudding with I think had an Oreo sprinkle in it was fabulous. They also surprised us with an extra dessert cause it was all 3 of our birthdays. Very enjoyable experience. Our sushi chef was very accommodating and made our birthday dinner memorable. We originally started out with the summer special of $78pp for a 12 course meal and decided to upgrade to the 14 course meal for $98pp. There was an option for a 17 course meal for $138pp but we were very full towards the end. They also had this $30 lunch and $60 dinner 3 course meal set for restaurant week. My friend's mom wasn't a fan of raw stuff so she ordered the Chilean sea bass with risotto and she wasn't a huge fan of it. The fish was a tad overcooked and the overall presentation of the dish looked more of a Chinese fusion dish. The risotto had that cheesy flavor but the presentation with the Bok Choy and the risotto looked more like fried rice and was confusing. I would stick with the omakase, which this place is known for.

It is $165 for a 13 course - it also comes with appetizer and dessert as well. The place is located inside Siam Thai - behind a bookshelf, the vibes are immaculate back there. The chief was so friendly and took his time to explain each dish to us and also took time to chat with us which I thought was really nice especially since I have mainly been to "fast casual" omakase locations recently where they don't really chat with you. There was a good variety of appetizers, fish and dessert. The appetizer options were so unique and the platting was so pretty. The fish options were also very plentiful and I liked the topping that they put on top of each one, the rich was not as warm and soft as I would usually like it but they paired well with the fish. The portion sizes were also pretty large which I thought was nice especially since we were paying about $165 a person. If you are getting sake, they do let you sample the sake before opening the whole bottle. The presentation of the opened sake was also so fancy. Overall - if you want a more traditional omakase experience, I highly recommend checking this place out. The vibes are immaculate and you will have a good time chatting with the chef while enjoying your food!

It was three oysters, similar to Crown Shy except I wasn't a huge fan of the flavoring here. The nigiri sauce didn't really elevate the flavor of the oysters much as they're already a slightly salty food and a soy sauce sort of just added more salt to it. I think a bit more kick was needed to enhance the flavor profile. The handroll set was pretty good, I liked the spicy tuna the best, then the salmon and then the yellowtail the least. In order, I'd probably give the spicy tuna a 9/10, salmon 8/10 and yellowtail 7/10. However, the tiramisu was fantastic, one of the best tiramisus I have had, creamy, good notes of coffee flavor and wasn't overly sweet. Our server was also very friendly, she showed us how to properly eat the handrolls which was nice. The place also has a nice vibe to it, very relaxing and not too loud or overly grand.
