Like all Saturdays, we contempt what to have for dinner and 97% of the time I seem to gravitate towards sushi. My friends recommended we all go to Nami Sushi, as they recently found this place and had a great experience. They gave me some notice, that Nami isn't a cheap sushi spot, but it's not an omakase restaurant either. Personally, I'm usually fine with cheap sushi but I recently hit a small parlay and was up for some premium sushi.. so I said yes. We parked on the street and paid the money meter. Wasnt too difficult parking, despite being on the busy street of Northern Blvd. The first thing I noticed before entering the restaurant was a sign looking to hire more servers. They appear to be short staffed but I promise you that you wouldn't even notice any lack in service. Inside the restaurant, there's about 10 tables or so. It's a fairly small and intimate space in my opinion. The sushi chefs are situated on the right side of the restaurant and they stayed behind the bar the entire time we were there. There are also 4 seats available at the bar if you're up for that. The servers were friendly and super attentive. For example, the moment my wife accidentally dropped her chopsticks on the floor, the server's asian parent spidey sense kicked in and handed her a new pair immediately. Ok, I know you're dying to know what we ordered. Here you go! Tuna Tataki (Toro) Gyoza x2 Beef Negimaki Spicy Rock Shrimp Tempura Chicken Teriyaki x2 THE NAMI Set Rainbow Roll Wagyu and Uni Sushi x4 Fire & Ice roll Roll Set (Salmon Avocado, Spicy Salmon, Spicy Yellowtail) Smoked Salmon Fried Rice Cold sake x2 King Salmon Sushi x2 Ice Cream x3 As for the bill, our total before tip was about $380 for a party of 8 (4 adults and 4 kids). This wasnt bad at all considering all that we ordered above. AND yes, we definitely over ordered. The sushi was high quality. My favorite was the Tuna Tataki, as the toro was melt in your mouth and all the different texture and flavors just worked beautifully together. The other favorite was wagyu and uni sushi (duh). The Nami set had sashimi, Nigiris and rolls. It included salmon, tako (octopus), salmon, eel, and yellowtail. I would cut out the beef negimaki and rainbow roll next time. Personally, I felt those were the least impressive out of everything we ordered, but my friends on the other hand loved the beef negimaki. Overall, we had a great experience and the kids said they loved the chicken teriyaki. Surprisingly they finished all their food! I tried a piece of the chicken and I have to say, it's actually pretty bomb. Give Nami a try if you're looking to splurge a bit to satisfy your sushi fix. No regrets from me whatsoever.

Nami set for two

This review is only for the nami set. We had it twice within two weeks for take out. That's how good it is. My husband and I were craving it a few days after and it's a bi-weekly treat now. There's not a single piece in the set that I don't like. The rolls that are included are even top notch. The fish is super fresh and great quality. I hope they stick around bc this is our go to sushi spot now! Def have to dine in to try their other options.

Sushi Roll Combo

Cuisine: 6 Service: 7 Decor: 6 Value: 7 Overall: 6 On a recent meal, two of us shared a Sashimi Set and a Three Sushi Roll Combo. Nothing was necessarily bad, but honestly nothing was good or great either. The sashimi was relatively fresh. However, to truly taste the flavors of the raw seafood, you need the slices of sashimi at closer to room temperature rather than bone chilling cold. Putting already very cool sashimi on top of a bed of ice did not help. You can taste small amounts of ice in certain bites. On the other hand, rice for sushi and sushi rolls should be warmer. The rice for our Yellowtail Scallion and Spicy Tuna Rolls were way too firm, not glutinous at all, which takes away from the enjoyment greatly. Salmon Skin Roll was better, probably because the filling was deep fried and hot, which warmed up the rice slightly. Fyi, I have eaten hundreds of sushi omakase here and overseas, so I have a decent gauge of what good and bad sushi/sashimi is. I am aware of its local shop intentions and not comparing this restaurant to the high end stuff in Manhattan. Anyway, I just don't see this restaurant getting much better unless it understands basic sushi concepts. I am sad to report that I will unlikely be back anytime soon on my own.

Took a chance on a grand opening and on Valentine's Day without a reservation. I got super lucky (as the place was 90% packed and almost every table was reserved), a diner was leaving and freed up a spot. I only waited a few minutes to be seated. Menu is mostly sushi offerings and a handful of hot/kitchen prepared entrees. Very limited menu but if you're here for decent sushi, you're in a good spot. While the sushi options are mostly standard fare, they do offer some premium picks - think uni, toro, caviar, and scallops. The choices are just enough for a great meal without breaking the budget. The food, notable mentions: - scallop carpaccio (good portion and flavors work with the capers and yuzu) - curry katsu don, good curry (mild, not spicy if you're curious) and the katsu had a nice crisp to it. Needs a little bit more seasoning. - uni sushi (a la carte), golden and rich. I didn't ask but I'm guessing it's the local uni from CA. - Toro is the tuna of choice rather than the regular. Smooth and tender, fatty and it's beautifully plated. Other sushi available like specialty rolls, sashimi (which I had, good assortment but slightly too cold on serving). Fried rice and rice plates available as well, think salmon and chicken. Service was a bit slow but it was to be expected as it was Valentine's Day - almost a full house and only one waiter. On a regular evening it's more than fine given the size. Take out orders galore from what I witnessed. Best to order ahead and just pick up if you don't want to stand around waiting.

Quiet small home in the wall location. I visited on a Sunday afternoon and the sushi was fresh but the ambiance was very down to earth. The parking was horrible but I guess the freshness of the food made up for it.

Checked out this brand new spot and it was great! Lots of good, fresh sushi options. From the basics to fancier options. Felt like it had a good balance of options. The cooked food was really good too. The chicken teriyaki that we ordered for the kids didn't make me feel like we were ordering from a mall food court. Thr spot is a nice, cozy, and clean space. Nothing crazy, but felt right. Service was good, super friendly, and since it is brand new opening, was def on top of everything. Really liked this place as a good sushi/cooked Japanese food spot, that hit the spot with the basics and had nice fancier options if you are in the mood for it.

Gyu Don

Pleasantly surprised how good the sushi was! It was fresh, had good flavors and the prices are very good. Special rolls are only $15 and the sushi set is around $25. I would recommend the sushi set and the tuna tataki. The only thing I would not recommend are the hot entrees. The gyu don was not up to par at all just by the look of it. The service is good and I would definitely come back again for the sushi!

Solid 4.5 stars but rounded up for Yelp. In the neighborhood visiting with kids in tow and Nami had no wait and kid friendly items on the menu. The staff was super friendly, set up the high chair and gave us spill proof cups. Bathrooms were clean and food came rather quickly. Menu items were interesting enough to not be basic, and basic enough to satisfy the children. Walking around the area, this is a top pick for food choice. It satisfies the trifecta of good, fast, affordable. No complaints from adults or kids here.

Michiba (sautéed Salmon inside with onion and kani, seared salmon on top with chili sauce)

Used to come here all the time when it was Tokyo GoGo. Same setup and space is used. Waitress was very nice and accommodating. I was tempted to sit at the bar since I was solo but they use the sushi bar for takeout orders. The menu has a select number of special rolls all look very tempting. I started with the fried shishito peppers and the batter was light and crispy but the peppers alone were a bit hard to eat. I'm used to shishito peppers being smaller like fries and more of them. These particular ones were huge and the seeds inside were a lot, too much at times to consume, which is why I enjoy the smaller peppers with less seeds. I'll opt for something else next time as all the apps sound great. I went with the Michiba roll. Excellent taste, salmon was super fresh and the sear was perfection. The tea was good but had a very distinct taste of rice, sometimes overpowering but still satisfying. I will definitely be back to try more items on the menu. Music was relaxing but could use a change up to liven the atmosphere a bit.

Nami Sushi is worth a visit for its fresh fish and skilled plating. The yellowtail was buttery and bright, and the botan ebi stood out with sweet meat and a crispy fried head, madai was the best for me. Service is friendly, sake selections are good, and prices are fair for the fresh sushi. That said, some dishes need work. The uni from Hokkaido and ikura tasted bland, likely from being frozen, and the beef negi- maki scallions were undercooked. The restaurant was empty throughout our meal, which was a shame, business is tough these days. The menu is small, understandable for a small spot, but expanding it could attract more diners. Nami Sushi has solid basics if they tighten up the inconsistent bites and maybe add more options, they could really shine. Give it a try to support a local spot with potential.

We stumble upon this Japanese restaurant and we are absolutely blown away by how amazing the food quality was! Everything was very delicious and super fresh. We're so happy we've found a restaurant with top notch Japanese food in the area so no need to travel out to the city! Highly recommend this place!

We stumbled on this place because we were in the area and hungry and I'm glad we did. The food was fresh and delicious and the prices were reasonable. We had the sushi taco and it was amazing, I would totally recommend it. The staff was friendly and the decor modern and clean.

An Unforgettable Omakase Experience!…read more We celebrated the 4th of July with an incredible omakase dinner at Masaki, and it exceeded every expectation. Every course was beautifully presented, impeccably fresh, and perfectly balanced. From the delicate Red Sea Bream and buttery Scallop to the luxurious Toro with Caviar, Sweet Shrimp with Uni, and the unforgettable Eel with Foie Gras, each bite was a masterpiece. What truly elevated the evening was Michael, our sushi chef. He was warm, engaging, and exceptionally knowledgeable. He took the time to explain every course, the origin of the fish, the flavors, and the best way to enjoy each piece. His passion for his craft was evident, and his attention to detail made the entire experience feel personal and memorable. Dining at the sushi bar gave us a front-row seat to watch the artistry behind every piece. The quality of the ingredients, the precision of the preparation, and the genuine hospitality made this one of the finest omakase experiences we've ever had. Thank you, Michael, and the entire Masaki team, for making our holiday celebration so special. We can't wait to return for another unforgettable evening!

Menu is very limited with the protein options though with a few choices of noodles (spicy, ramen, or soup versions). They also carry poke bowls which I have yet to try. I did enjoy my beef over rice very much. Thin slices of beef, super tender and delicious. The sauce was on the sweeter side which was drizzled onto the beef as an au jus. And it came with half an egg, pickled radishes and broccoli. Another dish I enjoyed was the fish and cabbage hot pot. That was served with a bowl of rice. No noodles. Even with the spice level at "one pepper" rating, it was too much of a kick for me. But those that like spicy will enjoy it just fine. The fish pieces it came with were generous sized portions and this bowl was loaded with vegetables. Wood ear, mushrooms, cabbage, sliced white radish, and bean curd skin. It also has a few slices of spam (which I did order extra so I'm not sure if the normal is two slices). We also tried the pan fried pork gyoza which was perfectly fried on each side. Nice color. Taiwanese pork as a side comes with one pc per order. The fried chicken appetizer could use a little more spices but the chicken was so tender and very juicy. I liked it a lot. It does come with a dipping sauce which helps but I didn't use it much. All in all a good spot for take out but the menu will need to be expanded in order to have longevity. Sadly it didn't look busy each time I came to pick up. Staff is attentive and friendly.
