I came here with an arcade friend of mine since it was Father's Day and he didn't have plans and I didn't have any plans either. And given that both of our fathers have already passed away, hence, no point in celebrating Father's Day, we decide to come to Alhambra to see what's good and what's new to try out. We passed by this spot, it looked somewhat new and it's an AYCE sushi spot so we decided to give this place a shot. We arrived around 3:30PM or so and it was dead. As in, we were the first clients there for the late afternoon. To start off, they have two different options for lunch and dinner. Since we arrived past their lunch time, the dinner option was the only options available. Basically, it's $25 for the rolls plus appetizers but for $30, they include the "premium" items. We went with the $30 per person option. They have all the common "premium" fish options that you'd find at any other sushi joint: albacore; tuna, uni, roe, yellowtail, bluefin something or other, and a few different others. Granted, I'm actually not a sushi expert so I wouldn't really know what's considered a "premium" sushi. With that said, I tried like one of each of the obvious one's that I thought that I would like: tuna, yellowtail, albacore and salmon. My friend also ordered some premium one's as well but frankly, they weren't as appetizing or tasty as the baked rolls and the more general "fusion" sushi cut rolls on their menu. Out of all the sushi's ordered, the premium one's were probably the least appetizing of them all. I mean, they were fine. They tasted alright. No fishy taste or smell so that's a plus but...I guess my taste buds just can't appreciate the "premium" fish as much as I would have liked to. We ended up ordering these sushi cut rolls: Baked Baby Lobster Roll, Godzilla Roll, Spicy Tuna Roll, Eel & Avocado, Dragon Roll, and Spider Roll. Out of all of these rolls, the Baked Baby Lobster Roll was the best. We both made it to 2nd round and stopped there. It was a lot of food. (Read: It was a lot of rice and sauce and not enough fish). Ambiance. It was...quiet. They were playing the latest Korean pop songs. Not much else to say about that since we were the first one's there and no other clients showed up until a little later in the day. Service. They were friendly and attentive. The male server went into detail about how to order. Basically, you have 1.5 hours for the AYCE option. You get 3 rounds. There's a piece of paper with a pencil where you fill out what you want and give it to the server. Then repeat until you get full or your time runs out. First round, you can order as much as you want but the caveat is that if they feel like the amount that you ordered is too much on the first go around, they'll tell you. So, in reality, it isn't "truly" order as much as you want (or all you can eat). More like you can order as much as you want--within reason. Then when you are done with the 1st round, you can order as much as you want on the 2nd round and if time allows, you also get a third round and finish it off from there. On the 2nd round, when they noticed that we ordered just as much as we did on the 1st round, the female server came back to our table and gave us a warning that if we don't finish the sushi rolls, they'll charge $1 more for every sushi cut roll that you cannot finish. (In our minds, we were like, "Ummm...we're hungry. It'll be fine. We'll finish it". When the server left our tables, we both gave each other the eyeball like TOTALLY AWKWARD THAT YOU'D BRING THIS UP ONLY AFTER WE FINISHED OUR 1ST ROUND OF FOOD without actually saying anything to each other). Now, I'm not sure if they meant for every individual sushi cut roll DISH or every sushi cut roll PIECE in a dish but in any case, we were certain that we could finish them without any issue. And sure enough, we finished the 2nd round of sushi and ordered appetizers to finish off the meal, not as a 3rd round but as part of the 2nd round. For the appetizers, we ordered: agedashi tofu, edamame, and gyoza--btw, skip the tofu. It's edible but it wasn't that great. The female server was really surprised that we finished them and offered to us a complimentary green tea ice cream, which we gladly took. Price: It's kind of steep for the area, all things considered. But this is the only AYCE sushi joint in the Alhambra area that I'm aware of so they have that going for them. All in all, decent for what it is but still a bit pricey. Honestly, their lunch price options would be more of what I'd rather pay. I'd say that you should give this place a shot. (Oh, and one last thing. I know it's supposed to be a Japanese sushi spot but it appears to be owned and run by Koreans so if you care for that sort of thing, that's something to take note of). read more

All you can eat sushi done right. Service was quick and speedy. Every dish was straight up fresh "enough" but not of the highest quality. Everyone that's into AYCE sushi knows that you have opt for the premium sushi at the start. I will not go for their cheaper option of having only AYCE rolls. You got to get their nigiri only. All of their appetizers are pretty much fillers and they will try to get you full on that. My group also opted for their all you can drink Draft beer for 13 bucks. First time coming here to try the ayce sushi. The line was kinda long since it's still new place. The staff are nice but the food takes a while to come out. So expect a 10-20 mins queue. They have the regular and premium. I will recommend to pay a bit extra and go for the premium since the regular don't have nigiri or the premium selection. The rolls are super big 3-4 rolls got me pretty full and they taste mediocre nothing too great. The nigiri and premium it's worth it for $5 more. So overall this place would be a 4/5 star. read more

Sushi Me is a sushi spot in Alhambra that I tried out a few times recently and loved. Their sushi is fresh and tasty, the service is really good, though sometimes the wait is a bit longer when they're busy. Nothing unreasonable though. They'll provide you with free sides of spicy mayo and other sauces on request which is nice as well. The prices are decent for a sushi place, I think it's reasonable for the fresh cuts of fish you receive. They have some cleverly named items on their menu that are so delicious. This place satisfies my california roll craving better than any other place I've been to. Check this place out the next time you're trying to decide on where to have dinner on Main Street. read more

I was recommended this place by a close friend , he stated it was "good for the price." Acting on his recommendation I brought my girlfriend for a date and was severely disappointed. The staff was great but the food was another story. Our first round came quick, I had ordered 3 sets of 2 pieces sashimi and 3 sets of 8 rolls. But just like the food the disappointments came quick as well. The tuna still seemed mildly frozen and was flavorless. The two other cuts of fish were quite good but the tuna left a sour taste in my mouth. The rolls were just a complete and utter failures. The rice seemed to have a hard texture and just seemed somehow off. The seaweed that was in the rolls also was hard and seemed old and stale. For some reason I decided to get a second round and had two wait 40 minutes for 2 orders of sashimi. Mind you, there was only one other party of two people in the restaurant. Our server Jason hooked us up with free ice cream for our inconvenience. But besides the good service and almost enjoyable food, I have no other reason to come back. But hopefully it was just an off day, but i still do not see myself returning. read more

Based on some of the earlier reviews, I kept an open mind since service is usually one of the few aspects of a restaurant that is lacking when it first opens. I was pleasantly surprised, since the service is great and the waitress was very attentive along with another waiter that was helping serve the food. IN MY OWN OPINION: The main reason why this is only getting 3 stars for me is really because of the food in relation to the cost. In the 626 area, or even LA, we're flooded with tons of sushi restaurants and many have AYCE. I came in looking to see what separates them from others. Needless to say, there's a lot to be desired, but I can see this place improving. They do charge 2 separate costs for the AYCE. If you want to just enjoy the nigiri along side the cut rolls, it'll cost you more. Only cut rolls will cost less. This is likely because more fish is being used for the nigiri, where as rolls have more 'filler' and rice. My group opted for the premium which includes everything. Here's a few things I experienced, which I think are fixable: - Tuna was still somewhat frozen, or not finished thawing. Very cold bite and stiff texture. - The carpaccio was not good. The tuna had this spicy glaze that tasted like something that would go on fried chicken. The salmon had what I remember to like a ponzu mayo sauce that overpowered the salmon and made it very hard to eat. I actually had a gag reflex from eating that. - The unagi had way too much sauce. Even the rice was soaked in it. I know some people that actually like it, so this might be personal preference. - The premium blue fin tuna had this jalapeno topping that completely masked any flavor of the nigiri - The 'standard' nigiri that most people would get via salmon, tuna, yellowtail, etc were a hit or miss. The last 2 salmon I could not chew through. There was like this rubbery texture that was holding the entire salmon piece together in my mouth and I could not break it down by chewing. Not a good feeling. - Waaaaayyyy too much garnish. Half our dishes had layers and layers of shredded white onion or other stuff. While there were some dishes I did not enjoy, there were some that were really tasty and the service was really good. The overall consensus in my group is that, it's worth giving a try if you're looking for ACYE and just want to stick to what you know is safe. If you're looking to try something new for flavor and texture, you'd probably shouldn't be going to an AYCE restaurant anyway. read more

Awful experience. I used to love this spot, change of ownership and menu a no-go. Cheaper quality sashimi. Slow AF service. After sitting for 30 minutes with no food the server asked if we needed anything else. This place only seats 37, the restaurant wasnt full and the 5 servers they had could not manage even a table of 2. So, I told the server, we would like our food. This was my first time trying Sushi Me as I enjoyed the previous owner and sushi business. Once I entered Sushi Me, I noticed a lot of tables were taken but the hostess was kind to wipe down a table for a party of three. After looking over the menu, I noticed there was a waitress, a waiter and the hostess working all of the tables. Most of the tables were taken and the sushi bar was empty. It took awhile to flag down one of the waiters and after asking him a few questions about the menu, he had to ask one of the waitresses. He didn't seem like he knew what was on the menu. After ordering calamari, dragon rolls, baked salmon and two drinks, he disappeared. After waiting another 15 minutes, the dragon rolls arrived but my drinks didn't arrive. The baked salmon arrived and the waiter noticed he forgot the drinks and ran back to get them. The waitress brought out the calamari when we were half way through the sushi rolls. The baked salmon had a lot of cream cheese in the middle (which was overwhelming) but the salmon tasted good. Dragon rolls were good but the sauce was a little too much for me to enjoy. The calamari was nicely fried and were oddly shaped like sticks. After the meal was done, it took awhile to get a box to go and the check. I had to flag down the waitress as the waiter disappeared from serving us. Finally, it took another 10 to 15 minutes to get my credit card back. When I was about to get up, the hostess came by and asked if I wanted a refill on my drink. Too late, I was already on my way out. I'm in the sushi business and I'm disappointed to see such a poor experience. Service needs to be improved with better training and sushi rolls needs to be re-evaluated. read more

Although, there is no more all you can eat. The sushi is still superb. Service is excellent, the servers are always willing to accommodate to your needs in the best way possible. DON'T ORDER ONLINE! They charge about $2-$5 extra on each item if you order for PICK UP. That's right, you have to pay extra even if you're just picking up. This is a scam in my opinion. We noticed this when we decided to order in person the most recent time. I've ordered 4 times online and when I did the math I've paid $60 extra throughout those online orders. These were NOT delivery orders, I simply ordered and came to pick up the food. So can someone contact me and explain why you guys charged me extra all these times?! Went out to try this new AYCE place and was satisified. It's located in the poppin part of Alhambra where the cinema is. Parking is a bit tricky since you'll need to park at the parking structures which is a block away. Their selection is pretty common for AYCE sushi places except for a few exceptional dishes. Under the premium section, they have Carpaccios. I really like their Salmon one. read more
