As an appetizer, we ordered the Ika Geso, fried squid legs which had a crispy texture dipped in the fresh flavors of aioli and lemon juice. For the main course, we went with family style and ordered the following rolls: Refresh, Truffle Seared Salmon, Ultimate Yellowtail, and Black Spider. My minor complaint would be the irregularly shaped portions of the Black Spider with some fried crab sticking out being slightly awkward to eat. Other than that, everything tasted fresh and unique, especially the Refresh and Truffle Seared Salmon. When I asked if the bento came with miso soup the waiter said no, but I could substitute the salad for miso soup instead, which I did. Surprised, since most bento boxes I've had include miso soup by default. The chicken was underwhelming lacked flavor, plus a lot of fatty, chewy bits and bone fragments. The crab rolls were basically a California roll with crab swapped in, no toppings, no sauce, nothing special. Ramen was decent, generous noodles, two pieces of pork, but pretty basic. Not sure if ownership or management changed since my last visit, but compared to my previous review, a lot feels different, makes me wonder if the food quality shifted too. Came on a Saturday right around 2:30 and luckily there wasn't a wait at all. You can join the waitlist ahead of time on yelp if there is a wait though. Big fan of their happy hour since you get 30% off and you just have to order before it ends at 3pm. We happened to go during one of the world cup games and they had it playing on all their TVs which was a nice surprise. The spicy tuna on crispy rice was tasty, the rice had a nice crunch and the fish portion was generous. However I felt a bit let down by the sushi. Is the owner not paying their staff to come in 10-15 mins before opening/closing so they have to be clean and closed by 10pm? We started with the squid legs and they were huge and yummy but a tad bit on the greasy side. Husband ordered his usual spider roll which was delicious and he also ordered the tuna and eel don which was absolutely delicious and fresh. Presentation was beautiful as well. I opted for the most basic dish beef teriyaki bento with mixed tempura. The beef was inedible the first time they brought it out, it was sooooo dry and tough even if I was pregnant I wouldn't want it. The waitress was really nice and sent it back and gave me another one. It wasn't any better than the first time but I didn't want to be inconvenient so I just didn't eat it. The mixed tempura was yummy but also a tad bit on the greasy side. Usually parking isn't too much of an issue but as it's in a very busy shopping center you might have to park a bit further. We came around 2pm on Saturday and it was still pretty busy and we waited about 10-15 min for a table. I would recommend making reservation during peak times or for large group. They have a special where you can choose 4 rolls for about $65 and with the extra 30% off is a great deal which we got. The portions are good as well and quality is decent for what you get. I also ordered some nigiri on the side including ama ebi which comes with the fried head which I love and it was great. Service can be a little slow but they're managing a lot but was overall friendly. My bf bodied like 3 rolls lol and was shocked at how affordable the bill ended up being. Mikomi was a great experience! I love the flow of the space with the eating area of the bar and kitchen and against the windows of the restaurant. It felt comfortable! The staff were very helpful and knowledgeable. They got us sat, order taken and order served in a very short period of time, which I appreciate! This seems consistent with the last couple times I ate there. The last time was at the bar with the same impression. The rolls were VERY good! I am not a "fancy" roll guy where they put all kinds of sauces and mixtures a proteins and this menu doesn't have a lot of that. They have some but I am pretty happy with the mix of choices of sushi rolls in that it was difficult to decide which four to order (that's how many I eat). The beef was very tender and flavorful! It was a beautiful medium rare and was phenomenal! The sashimi was very fresh and delicious! The salad was nothing special and would be better if it was more fresh. Overall, I enjoyed the set and it was a good deal. The Japanese Miso Ramen ($16.99) was just ok. The broth didn't taste like "36 hour miso infused tonkotsu broth" and tasted pretty bland. The noodles didn't taste chewy or fresh. There was way too much bean sprouts and green onions honestly so ramen was definitely a pass unfortunately. The tuna rolls were pretty good. The tuna was fresh and the sushi tasted very yummy!
