I really liked this hole in the wall sushi place. It looks sketchy from the outside, but the fish was very fresh and good quality. We ordered take out, and the sushi was great. The crab rangoons were 10/10. They use real crab meat and hand stuff and fold little pockets of deliciousness. The veggie tempura roll also 10/10. I saw this was loved in the other reviews, and I was not disappointed. The flavor combo was perfect. The Mexican roll didn't match how stellar the veggie roll was. I wouldn't order it again. I do wish they would add some other traditional Japanese options like onigiri or an ahi tuna don. I would love a sushi roll topped with seared ahi tuna. I'm still a big fan of the menu theu do have. I will definitely be back for the crab rangoons and veggie tempura roll! read more

Sushi Zone is a pretty pearl tucked away in the oyster shell that is Eastpointe. Sushi purists may not be impressed, for I think their strength is in the sauced down and jazzed up rolls. There are a lot of deep fried, cream cheese slathered and sweet sticky adaptations. The wasabi is not very spicy and there could have been more. Nigiri is featured on the menu, but I didn't try it. My friend and I went to Sushi Zone on a Friday night at about 6:30-7PM. It's a hole in the wall next to a liquor store, and the parking lot is super tiny. There are only a few tables inside, which makes sense given the parking situation. Not having been there before, we dined in, but it seems like most of their business is carry out. They have a really great menu, with lots of options. The asterisk on the menu indicates raw items. Most of what they offer is sushi but they do have a few kitchen menu items and appetizers as well. The waitress had us write our orders on the paper menu to order, which I really prefer at sushi places. I ordered the shrimp California roll, the frying snapper roll, and the beef teriyaki roll, as well as 1 tamago (egg) nigiri. I also asked that they wrap everything in soy paper, which they are able to do. The sushi was phenomenal. It was fresh and had great flavor and my mouth waters thinking about it. The waitress was really great; she was very accommodating and made sure we were happy with our order. We will definitely be back! read more

On a Friday, I ordered pick up takeout via Sushi Zone website before 5:00 for 6:15 pm pickup, the earliest available time slot. My order was LATE by 30 minutes. The order included a Hawaiian, Roll Combo, Golden Sun Roll, and Chicken Noodles. The first 3 items were decent and tasted fine. However, the noodles were pathetic for $13. Noodles were overcooked, needed a microscope to find the chicken, lukewarm, seasoning was nothing more than soy sauce, and a tiny portion. The young lady who ran the place was awesome! She could take orders, check out, and wait tables with speed and graciousness. Unfortunately, Sushi Zone is a NoGo Zone in the future for us. BTW, tab ran $60 with tip. read more

What is there to say that has not already been said? This place seriously ROCKS. I am kicking myself for not knowing about it until now. I would say the sushi around this area is average, hit or miss, and doesn't give me the sushi craving like Suzhi Zone does. My initial impression when called for my first carry out was positive. The person who took my order was extremely pleasant and friendly. She was even nicer in person! I ordered three rolls my first time here, the spicy California, Salmon Pizza and Super Dragon. She told me I am going to really like the Super Dragon roll, and she was right. It was by far the most delicious sushi roll I have had in a long time. The other two rolls were great too, I just think regarding the pizza salmon roll, I am not big on cooked salmon on my sushi, but it was overall pretty tasty. The Spicy California is just a classic and they make it right. These rolls aren't going to fall apart upon picking up, unlike some places I have had around here that serve sushi as their main thing. These rolls are large too, so this lasted me two meals, even though I probably could have finished it all off in one sitting, because that is how good it all is. They are located in a spot you would not think would house some of the best sushi on this side of town, but looks are deceiving! They have a small dine in area if you prefer to not get a carry out. Even if you order a carry out, they make sure to pack the sushi well enough so it doesn't get tossed around and ruined. I cannot wait to try other rolls and other items, but it's hard to stray when you have found one of your new favorite rolls! So my initial review was left upon my first visit it seems when they initially opened, I have been a semi regular customer ever since. I feel bad having to deduct a star from my initial review but it seems that the quality of the food has taken a hit for whatever reason as of late. Don't get me wrong here, generally what is ordered is prepared fresh, in a timely manner and most of the time tastes much better than any other options in the metro Detroit area. The one gripe I have is the rice, which if yer running a sushi place should be one of the best things about the place. More often than not lately the rolls fall apart which can make consuming it with any type of sauces or even using chopsticks cumbersome at best. Additionally, it seems they're always looking for some kind of in house counter/server help I've seen the changes firsthand in helpers there and the most recent "additions" leave a lot to be desired as far as service goes. It may be a minor thing to most but such things may pull me to other establishments should their service alone be much better than what is experienced here. All in all still a great place in the immediate area to get some generally good sushi and other relevant cuisine, I'm just not seeking it out as much anymore as I had been in the past but I'm glad to see they're still up and running and seem to be doing well for themselves there. I have loved the sushi zone since last year, being a late comer to ordering from there. (seriously, everyone on my side of town does - when we told the lady we were talking to at the counter it was our first time, she responded with "what took you so long?!") It's super fresh, affordable, and they do a great job safely packing the rolls for delivery or carryout. My order is consistently correct and the rolls are generously sized. I love pretty much everything about them. I'm not sure if they offer contactless pickup right now, but I would really love that as an option, if not - I'm high risk and it would be really convenient to grab it on my way back from grocery pickup. :) I recommend the tempura eel roll! read more
