One of my two favorite sushi joints in the Bay Area. I drive out from Hayward specifically to eat here (and visit the nearby wineries). Try the Steven Roll on the specials menu: delicious roll with a drizzle of habanero and jalapeño oil on the side to give it an extra kick! Service is super friendly. I'd love to see them expand their hours but that'll come with increased demand perhaps. read more

This place is AMAZING! Lastnight was our first and definitely won't be our last time there. The food there was spectacular. I mean, I know alot of Sushi places, but this Restaurant has got to be the BEST ever. Sushi rolls were on point, the BOAT (I highly recommend) display and choices was awesome. Sashimi pieces were fat and fresh! and also, service was great even when it was busy! I can't express enough how much I love this place (I know, its weird.lol). Very good experience. The food was amazing, generous portions. We both ordered bento boxes. The teriyaki beef was some of the best We've ever had. Tempura was fresh, light, very crunchy and delicious. With the "to go" box our very good waitress provided take out sauces so we could enjoy it all at home. I highly recommend Sushi Zone read more

Great value for lunch! The lunch bento has a wide variety of dishes (choice of 2 for $12 and choice of 3 for $14). I got the teriyaki beef, ton katsu, and tuna sashimi. The teriyaki beef is like a skirt steak, but has a good amount of fat to make it super tender and tasty. The ton katsu is perfectly fried and crispy, with a slightly sweet mayo sauce. The tuna sashimi is a really generous portion of three pieces each a sizeable few inches long, and tasted very fresh. Highly recommend! read more

We eat sushi at least twice a week in Livermore, usually for lunch and then dinner outing. After trying all the different places, my vote goes to Sushi Zone. The food is very fresh, and the slices of fish are thick and generous. Prices are decent, and with the quality of size and flavor of the rolls and nigiri pieces, its a bargain! Staff is friendly and prompt, atmosphere is nice and comfortable. Excellent dining. If you want the opposite of everything I said, go to Kawa Sushi. read more

Don't let the name fool you... While I understand some other opinions that the restaurant's name doesn't sound very exciting, what should and does matters is the overall experience inside. To say the least we were very pleasantly surprised by not only the food but also the feel of the restaurant and the service. We already have a favorite sushi place but a coupon received in the mail brought to our attention this newly opened spot in Livermore, so we decided to try it out. Upon walking in we were kindly greeted (which is customary of Japanese restaurants) by the only waitress and sushi chef. There were only two other tables occupied, but it was a mid-weekday and I'm sure more people will go as the word spreads about this place! As you walk in they have a few specials (food & drinks) written on a board. All of the food we ordered was extremely good and very fresh. We've tried two other Livermore sushi spots and were disappointed with the food both times. However, Sushi Zone delivered and I hope they're able to maintain this quality after being opened for a while. The menu is very extensive but the format makes it less overwhelming than similar sized offerings of other restaurants. We started with the Hamachi Kama (grilled cheek meat), which game out as a much larger portion than we were expecting but it tasted fantastic while it was not overcooked at all. For the main courses we order multiple items: Orange Blossom roll, Dynamite roll, Spring Roll and Unagi nigiri. We enjoyed every single item while each had its own distinct flavor & attributes. The Spring roll was especially nice, simple & light. There were a few small touches that I think the owners did a good job with, which I wish we had known before ordering as we don't customarily eat large meals. You should know that they provide complimentary salad, miso soup & edamame beforehand. Then after the meal we were given a small portion of ice cream ~all complimentary. If you're anywhere near Livermore I would strongly suggest you try this restaurant. Sushi Zone, welcome to town. read more

I have been working in sushi restaurant(not Sushi Zone) for a year now and I am not easily impressed by many sushi places, but god, their sushi is so fresh and delicious. They even have some rare nigiri such as A-ji (Spanish mackerel) or red Tako which really tasted amazing! Sushi was amazing, the chef and waitress were very nice, price was fair, what can I say more? I used to love this place until I got food poisoning on June 2. I called the manager the next day and he was kind to apologize and ask me what I ordered and he told me he would comp my order next time. Hands down the best sushi in livermore. I eat sushi about two or three times a week and the fish is always fresh. This place lets the quality of the fish speak for its self rather then other spots that drench the rolls with sauce to cover up the fresh flavor's. They have my sushi business every time I am in livermore. The place only seats 60 people and has a nice out door area. I had high hopes for the sushi here based on previous reviews, but I guess my taste buds differed from those of others. While the 6 and 8 pieces of sushi per roll were very generously sized and layered with larger than normal cuts of fish, the flavor and quality were not on par with those of Sammy Sushi . The tuna did not taste fresh and the salmon looked like farm raised in terms of color and fat lines. the spicy minced/smashed salmon and tuna and crab also were unappealing and too much for the amount of rice. part of the joy of eating sushi comes from its appearance and perfect ratio of ingredients per roll. also the quality of the rice. this rice was quite moist, sparse and flavorless. for 5 04 the speciality rolls we paid $72 with tax. read more

Cheap, quick, no thrills. This place is perfect for what it is. Livermore needed a place that you can grab a clean family meal. We wanted a kid friendly place with lots of options. For me it was comfort food....portuguese hawaiian style. The portions are good sized and the prices are very reasonable. For my family of 4 (kids almost 4 and 2) we ordered several dishes to share. We got edamame, seafood salad, yakisoba shrimp, crunchy spicy tuna roll, and a CA roll. All were great. The seafood salad was my husbands choice and I was surprised by the size and amount of shrimp and imitation crab. It was very good. The yakisoba noodles were great with lots of veggies and grilled shrimp. The edamame was an entire plate full, not your normal sushi some bowl. I will say my only knock is you have wait a bit for your food since it is made to order. Nothing longer than any other place though. It is just not fast food. I originally thought this was a plate lunch kinda place from the outside. Over all it was a great experience and perfect for a quick bite to eat with a young family. (they have high chairs now) ADDED BONUS! You can see the grill from the dining area. The chef put on a little show with his spatulas for the kids. Sushi Zone is still by far one of our favorite spots in the Tri-Valley area. I only wished they were much closer to home. We frequent Sushi Zone at least once a week, but cause their sushi leaves you wanting to go back for more. We are consistently pleased with the freshness of their seafood, they never disappoint! Our favorite-- OMG roll by far best we ever had, Sake Nigeria (salmon) sashimi, spicy tuna roll, vegetable tempura, dragon roll, gyozas, and their salad dressing to die for. They make it themselves...we love it so much we sometimes buy to go. Their portions are a nice and big...good for the price. We love this place and we are sushi foodies! read more
