Wow what an awesome find! Me and my family were walking the mall and checking out the skate rink and the staff had offered us a menu when walking by, we weren't interested at the time. We came back around and decided to sit down. The staff and manager were exceptionally nice and accommodating. Such a fun pleasant environment. The sushi was absolutely delicious!! I had the veggie roll, avocado maki and the Philadelphia which they happily accommodated using baked salmon instead of raw for me. You are better off with going to any one of the other conveyor belt sushi places. My ranking starting at the best is #1 Kura, #2 Sushi Sakura Express, and #3 Sushi Choo Choo. At Sushigami, every dish is overpriced. Portions are small, like for a child. You won't get full or satisfied unless you are willing to spend more money than it is worth. I would not mind the small portions if it was quality dishes or somewhat unique/special. I came early on Saturday right when they are suppose to be open. They were still setting up. I was watching. Ingredients are set up in such a way that it looks like the way Subway puts their food together. Making their dishes looks so simple in a cookie-cutter fashion that you can probably just do it at home. As for service, I was literally the only customer there. The bar seats were already set up, but it would have been nice if they would bring me some soy sauce instead of me having to reach over to another nearby seat. Sushigami is for people who don't care much about quality & need something quick and easy. The only thing I enjoyed here was the salmon nigiri, surprisingly fresh. Be warned though, they'll try to make any type of coin off of you & give you bottled water instead of normal water when you ask for some. The manager came by multiple times to check on my friend and I and when he saw that we weren't grabbing any dishes, he was telling us "oh that's good, try that, you should eat that." Been wanting to try a conveyor belt sushi place for the longest time, so when I saw that one opened up in the Galleria, had to hurry on over! Went on a Saturday with some friends to try since we were not super hungry--- being able to enjoy a meal at our relatively slow pace and seeing exactly how many pieces were going to be in the "order" was perfect to gauge, and not waste food! Between the time we stood around awkwardly trying to figure out where to sit and got our waters, several people had come by to ask if it was our first time and ask if we needed anything. We spent some time looking at the menu because there are some items that you order with the server that isn't roaming around on the conveyor belt. (Wish we ordered something though because it gets brought to you on this cool "robot" device that runs on it's own track on top of the conveyor belt, so adorable). We decided to stick with the belt items since that's what we were there for! It was clear which plate colors were what price and what ingredients were within the foods. Most of the items looked very appetizing so it was kind of hard to control the impulse in grabbing everything. We (4 people) shared most of the plates since they had average of 4 pieces. Pretty much everything was really good and it was nice that they don't skimp on fish. We got 3-4 rolls, 2 sets of tacos, and a cheesecake. Can't remember the names but I'll have pictures and I'm sure you can figure it out. But I have to mention that the thing we all unanimously decided was best were the crab tacos! The stuffing was sweet but light then paired with the crispy taco was drool worthy! The least favorite was the roll with the thinly sliced strips of chicken on top, the roll was okay and since these plates are roaming around the conveyor belt for whatever amount of time, the chicken wasn't hot and it wasn't crispy. The only thing that bummed me out was that we all really wanted to try the taiyaki, but they didn't have it that day *single tear*. But I would most definitely return because there were tons of items I hadn't got to try yet due to the fullness of the stomach, so hopefully by then I can get my hands on the ice cream fish dessert! read more

The family decided to try out sushigami on a whim. When we arrived, we had our pick of seats, and we decided to sit at the bar area facing the ice rink so all of us could face the conveyor belt. Talk about a great spot to take kids! We were able to get food immediately so our little kiddo wasn't bored. Here is our five year old sons portion of the review: "um. I don't know. Did I eat the whole thing of anything? I liked the other parts of the dragon roll." Ok, back to the normal review. We tried a variety of items and the sushi was better then grocery store sushi, so that's a plus! My favorite items were the dragon roll, the flamingo roll, and the tamago. It's a fun place to check out in the galleria. Two adults and a child got full for under $50. It's a win! read more

The food is prepared right in front of you and the work stations are very clean. The sushi conveyor belt was my favorite. If you are in a rush to eat there is no wait! Sit down, pick what plates you want as they come around, and eat. The staff is very helpful and the costumer service was great. Even if you don't think you like sushi I would give this place a try! I think this is more of a hang out and snack place and not a have a whole sit down meal because the portions are small and pricey. Having spent a lot of money and (mostly) enjoyed good sushi at many conveyer belt restaurants both in Asia and in the U.S., I was excited to see those familiar belts with small plates of sushi next to the ice rink here at the Galleria. We knew that Kula (a.k.a. Kura post-one letter name change), our favorite place in Dallas, had recently opened up in Houston but after a day of shopping the convenience of Sushigami won out. First, the few positives. Our waitress was super nice and always available when we wanted to order something off the menu. And to their credit, Sushigami has a clean, attractive layout right next to the Galleria ice rink. Unfortunately, that's about it. Shortly after being seated, we were asked for our choice of drinks and requested water. In place of tap water, we were presented with two bottles of water and two cups of ice. OK, I get that it's not always possible to have tap available e.g. a food truck, but when you have a working ice machine I know you have water available. And we're in the U.S., not Europe, where asking for "water" implies tap. Forcing $2.50 Dasani bottles is nothing more than nickel and diming your diners. Besides, even when I was in Europe several months ago they made sure to clarify tap or bottled before serving. Overcharging would be the the defining characteristic for the meal. When compared to Kula/ra with their flat $2.50 or so price per plate, Sushigami was much more expensive, with different prices ranging $3-6 per plate. Now I have no issue paying more, but the quality or at least the quantity should match. Neither was the case here. The sushi rice was had an overpowering amount of vinegar, and the sushi itself on the belt didn't seem particularly fresh either. The portions were similar, if not even smaller, to what we had been used to for half the price. Was the food bad? Not particularly. But for the prices being charged, you expect more. A lot more. And not with money grabbing tactics reminiscent of of Spirit Airlines. The second star is solely for the great service our waitress provided amidst an experience I otherwise can't recommend. read more

I've been to a few conveyor belt sushi restaurants in Houston and honestly this was one of my favorites. The rolls are unique and different from other places, but are still really good. Its also a little pricier than the other conveyor belt places, but its worth it! The staff was friendly, but not always present. I wanted to order something off the menu and couldn't find a staff member for a good 15 minutes until the manager showed up. And the only other downside is that they try to have you pay for water bottles, I just asked for tap water and they took the bottles back. Overall definitely recommend! read more

I would recommend you stick to the classics like edamame, udon, California rolls, and avoid the rolls that have weird colors or a mountain of imitation crab heaped on top. I've never really sat down and eaten there because I work in the mall and only ever done pick up. I usually get the teriyaki salmon bowl and it's under $10. It's really good and really filling. They are consistent with this item except for one time where they cooked it for too long. I've had the rainbow roll a few times and it was good, but if you want real sushi I would suggest going to an actual restaurant. I had my twin 7 year olds with me and for them, it was a really fun experience and they never eat much more than California rolls anyway, so they were happy sitting overlooking the ice rink and the big Christmas tree. The items I had were "ok" - not great. Prices are high. My real gripe was it wasn't very clean and for a sushi restaurant, I expect it to be immaculate. We sat near the kitchen so I could see everything - just kinda grungy. Also the conveyor track that the food rises along wasn't clean. There were bits of old food stuck down inside. The service at Sushigami was the worst I have ever experienced. I the sushi was just ok. I never received wasabi or ginger. It took 3 servers (not mine) to get a glass of water. I was not told that there were other items to order from a menu (not given). I had to go the register to pay as I could not get the attention of the server for my check. When I paid for my lunch I asked for my copy of the charge receipt-I was given a "gift" receipt which show no amount. I would have liked to ask what certain items were on the conveyer belt were; of course, that didn't happen. The price review is not accurate, it's more of a $$. Although the sushi grade is high, what is on the conveyer belt is very limited. We enjoyed the sake nigiri, a salmon with micro cilantro. We also enjoyed the shrimp tempura roll. Everything else was a little lackluster. Stay far away from the reptile role, unless you like sweet fried tofu. I've eaten a lot of sushi in a lot of different places, but this is the first and only conveyer belt sushi place I've tried. Both times I've come here, once on a weekday evening and once on a weekend afternoon, I've been surprised by how *not* busy the place is. The food is pretty good. The service is spotty here and there but overall it's fine. No one would mistake Sushigami for a high-end Japanese restaurant, but you can get a solid meal here. My favorite menu item is the shrimp tempura udon soup. The sashimi and maki are good also. The pricing is a little high but transparent (color coded plates). If something you're looking for isn't on the conveyer belt, or if you want your selection fresh, you can just order it off the menu (during less busy times this is essential). Beer, wine, and sake are available too. There are a few desserts on the belt but none worth getting, in my opinion. The proximity to the skating rink is a fun feature. Probably the best experience is to get a seat along a bar overlooking the rink and people watch while also watching the little plates go by. read more

I was visiting Houston for a work trip and had heard about Sushigami being here, too! I have visited my local one in South Florida many times and couldn't wait to try this one, too!
