I should have walked out after visiting the bathroom before I sat down. I got there at 11:50 and there were already two occupied tables. The bathroom did not look clean and the paper towel dispenser was jammed. When I got to the table there were already two waters with ice and lemon on the table. I don't do ice or lemon. We were never asked if we wanted anything to drink. The complementary miso soup was decent. I've had worse and better. We ordered the Chasu buns which had good flavor although the meat was dry and tough. What was presented as Shumai was the worst we'd ever had. I don't think the one piece I ate had any shrimp in it. Minus all the stars in the sky on this dish. It should be taken off the menu. Trust me on this one, don't order it. I should have asked, because I had a feeling, the crab is that fake stuff made out of fish paste and dyed to look like crab. They should state on the menu they do not use real crab. The dragon roll was the worst I've ever had and the tuna gone wild roll you can skip that too. This is the first time Japanese food has bloated me. What a waste of money. What I don't get is why the place was packed. Have the people of Rohnert Park never experienced good sushi? read more

this is a small little restaurant in Rohnert Park that often to a corner of a strip mall so it's easy to miss. The inside was clean and pleasant. The staff were friendly I had the two item bento box with teriyaki salmon and Katsu chicken. It came with soup and a salad. The food was quite good. read more

We had dinner with my friends here and we had a good experience. I had the spicy chicken teriyaki which is tasty and just the right amount of heat. My other friend got salmon teriyaki and the other who is a gluten intolerant, went for the pink lady and subbed the imitation crab into real crab which is something I didn't know you can do! The restaurant accommodated the request (which has additional charge of course!) and we enjoyed our meal! The servings for our entrees were huge and the price is reasonable. The space is not too big but enough to accommodate a good amount of customers. There are a couple of tables outdoors too! We've been wanting to try this Japanese restaurant due to the positive yelp reviews so we picked up our daughter and off we went. The interior dining area is cozy and most of the tables were occupied when we arrived but they were able to seat us right away. I noticed there are a few tables on the opposite side of the entry too. A couple servers helped us right away with water and menus. They have lunch specials, bento boxes for adults and kids, bulgogi, BBQ beef ribs, chicken katsu and a huge menu of nigiri and rolls. They gave us an izakaya menu (small plates) too. We ordered: Chirashi - bowl of chef selected raw fish on top of sushi rice 2-item bento box with chix teriyaki and tempura 3-item bento box with nigiri sushi, grilled pork belly, and tempura Overall, the service was attentive. They have about a dozen tables inside and a couple outside. It is an intimate space. The servers are friendly and kind. Our food was average. The chirashi was presented beautifully. It had a good amount of sushi rice under the raw fish. Our daughter orders this dish often at other Japanese restaurants and she said it was okay. My husband's 3-item was just okay as well. He said the rice under his nigiri was hard and the tempura batter was thicker than normal, which I agree. My chicken teriyaki was moist, the salad was fresh. We also had two bonus fried shumai in our bento boxes, which was a nice surprise. It's a cozy little place located right off of 101. Maybe we came in too late, we waited for a while. Then we order 3 set of hand rolls and a ramen. One of the hand roll had baked meat on top as the photo. We could not tell what kind of meat was that, it tased like warm grounded pork . It just tasted very off.... About 45 minutes later, my friend and I were not feeling well on our stomach. I don't know if it is because the food with bunch of panko were too greasy, or the baked weird meat roll was not fresh. Note to myself, don't eat late at sushi restaurant. read more

Ambiance is nice and dark though the tables are kind of cramped in they make a good use of the space. Nice decor and clean. I was not really welcomed on arrival which is fine but customers after myself were greeted immediately so that made me not feel great inside. When someone finally decided to stop and see if they could help me. I had been asked if I would like a table initially and then (apparently one needed to be cleaned off so it required some work on her behalf) was asked if I'd like to sit at the sushi bar which I declined and asked for the table. Once seated at a table, miso soup and water was dropped off at the table along with the regular menu and a specials menu. That was the end of interaction until I had to stand up and ask loudly if I could please order. She was not helpful at all and clearly didn't want me in her section? Very odd. The older woman is kind and sweet but the younger girls were not as great and the difference is incredible. I proceeded to order a hot tea, the mango tango roll, and the crazy boy roll. They don't have the good water and if you know, you know. :( Fingers crossed the food is better than the service! Update: The mango tango roll was off. There were bright spots like the combo of the mango but the fish didn't taste right. Unfortunately I was not able to eat any more. The crazy boy was fine. Tasted very good. Flavors melded together perfectly. The downside is the way this roll is cut. The pieces are really large and it makes it difficult (for me) to hold together lol. 3/10 likely won't come back. Too bad because when they first opened, service and food was phenomenal. Update 2: they removed the mango tango roll from my tab which was nice. Also lol my server never reappeared again. I mean to my table. I'm not sure what I did to earn that treatment but I won't spend money in establishments like that. read more

I like Sushiko sushi. I asked for a 49er roll which is just a California roll with a slice of lemon on it. That was the worst roll I have had from that place. They made the California roll and did not even top the roll with even half an inch of lemon. But, I was charged $1.00 for those skimpy slices of lemon. Ok this place is now my favorite. The bento box was amazing with pork belly salmon teriyaki and beef rib. We also got pork belly bao plate and then the energy roll since I like unagi this was a crunch roll feel fried tempura crust and it was so yummy. Then, the bento box came... the shrimp tempura roll was a buried treasure I had to dig up, since it was covered over with a half cup of panko. It was incredibly dry, like the panko absorbed any moisture in the roll. It needed a drizzle of something...The albacore roll was ok but a bit dry. And the bulgogi was ok, also a bit dry. Ending on a positive note, the portions are a good size and you'll likely get two meals out of this, which is a plus. But I've definitely had better sushi elsewhere. read more

I have been here many times and it's finally time to review them! This place is one of my favorite Japanese places near me. We share caburetor rolls and one other rolls (don't remember the name) but they both are really good. The complimentary miso soup is very yummy. I like it more than miso soup at other places I have been to. I had poke don lunch special for my entree and it was a good amount and really tasty. My husband and my parents got bento box and everything was really good. In term of service, it took a while for our server to come help us but it was overall a great experience. The restaurant is very small and it feels crowded sometimes when they are busy. The interior decoration is nice. Here's the review with the tenses corrected: This review is solely for the staff. It was a Friday (0531), and we had a reservation. I was courteous enough to call them and tell them that we were stuck in traffic. I asked the receptionist if our reservation would still be valid. He said yes. I called to make sure because we had a concert to go to, so I trusted the receptionist. This spot is small. Super small, so much so that you will smell like food because there's not enough circulation for the food to air out. Once you open the door, you get a waft of food smell. I introduced myself and told the receptionist that I was the one who called. He acknowledged me and said 5 minutes. We saw other people just getting seated, and during the time we were waiting, they hadn't even been served their menus. Clearly, the place was understaffed. Since we were on a time crunch, I asked, realistically, what time we'd be seated. Again, he said 5 minutes. At that point, I told my friends that we needed to get food somewhere else because we wouldn't make it in time for our concert if we stayed inside there for "5 minutes." We left. The lesson I want to share: if you're in a time crunch, this is NOT the place for you. I feel like we wasted our time because the receptionist said they'd honor our reservation, even though clearly, they wouldn't. Just say "NO" and move on, right? Don't give me hope. I have been coming here for years and they were wonderful from the start. The prices are reasonable compared to so many restaurants raising prices and every turn. But not Sushiko they have been always warm and friendly from the moment you walk in the door. From the Dragon roll to the California roll to the spicy tuna roll and the jalapeño poppers and the tempura everything they make is delicious my new favorite the pork belly omg definitely delicious. I was not aware of this restaurant, until some friends invited us to join them for sushi and suggested we go to Sushi. The space was immediately inviting. It was nicely lit, and open feeling, but managed to have nice acoustics despite the openness of the space. We started with miso, garlic adamame (soybeans) and Hamachi Kama (collar of yellowtail). All three were outstanding! Served hot and fresh from the kitchen. The edamame with garlic was a new experience - and became an instant favorite! The Hamachi Kama was amazing - and offered a wide range of delicious bites, from the perfectly cooked fish, the crispy skin, and the larger section of gill that was crispy and oily. Delicious! Sushiko offers beer, wine and sake - so we ordered a light floral sake for appetizers, and had Asahi with our main course. Since we were a group of 4, we decided to just get a boat - it offered a great value and selection of rolls, nigiri. It also included wakami (seaweed salad), green salads, cucumber, and some other tasty garnishes. Everything was fresh, tasty, and well prepared. Service was stellar. They were attentive without being invasive, and everything was served fresh from the kitchen. They didn't pressure us at the end of the meal, and gave us a little time to digest before desert. We ordered their panko crusted fried banana and green tea ice cream. Both were excellent. Overall an excellent dining experience. Food, service and value were all top notch!
