This Japanese sushi spot is a small authentic shop. When we arrived as a group of 8 people, we were informed that an 18% gratuity is automatically applied. Knowing this, we still dined in expecting a good experience. However, it is upsetting that we received poor service instead. The waiters and waitresses here are not attentive to your orders, since our food was sitting at the sushi bar counter for 15 minutes before it was actually brought to our table. The sushi here was of decent quality, I'd recommend getting a specialty roll, but I will not be coming again because of the lack of hospitality given.

The donburi was fantastic and one of my personal favourites in the area/ is reasonably priced as well. Service is quick, and seating is reasonable, but it does get busy at peak times.

Chicken Karaage, half eaten. I like the thin strips of chicken.

Still coming here. I like the way they prepare their Chicken Karaage in thin strips. I also like their California Rolls best. Their front of house staff are always friendly and greet you quickly. Their Itamae are also friendly and always working.

I enjoyed the food here. They have a good variety of things to choose from. We went to dine in at lunch and got their chirashi lunch special, a torched tuna nigiri, oyster motoyaki, spicy salmon sashimi and some rolls on the side. The oyster motoyaki's oyster were kinda of small so heads up. They also fill like half of it with spinach. But it was yummy. The torched tuna nigiri was ok. Didn't taste particular mind blowing. Solid rolls and solid chirashi!

Comfort sushi place. Quite expensive for just okay sushi. If you are around and needed a comfort sushi place, this will be it. Cheers!

We came here on the spur of the moment for a late dinner based on the reviews. We barely made the last call & ordered a mound of food. Our out of town guests were impressed by the ambience & tasty fresh sushi that they wanted to order more but no more final last call. I understand that they had a long day & needed to close. Everyone's favourite was the assorted sushi combo party tray! Only steps away from the Holdom skytrain station. There's metered parking out front which is free after 8 pm. An ideal place for a quick snack or dinner. Did I tell you that not only is the sushi fresh but prices are reasonable! We'll be back!

Really enjoyed my lunch here today. It was my first visit although my companions had been numerous times. It lived up to all expectations. Las Vegas roll was fantastic. Dynamite roll and spicy tuna roll also really good. But the gyoza, oh my goodness, they are the best I have ever had. SOOOO good. We all really enjoyed our meals and the prices were certainy reasonable. Definitely will make a return trip and would highly recommend.

It's been a while since I've been to sushimoto because there are just soooo many other great Japanese restaurants in Vancouver but we ended up dining there the other day because we were out late and pretty much everything else was closed. That is not to say that it was our last resort but it was a pretty delicious option for 10pm at night. To start we got the daily sashimi special which came with two slices of snapper, arctic surf clam, salmon and tuna. Something I love about sushimoto is that when you order sashimi, they give you a bowl of sushi rice with it so you can make your own nigiri rolls or just eat as is. The seafood here is always super fresh so it is at a higher price point than other sushi restaurants in the area. Next was the kitsune udon to get something warm. Nothing special here, just udon noodles in a light dashi broth with some fish cake on top.

Sushimoto Enterprises provides one with a fairly priced sushi restaurant that also provides good quality alongside its fair price. The sashimi comes out cold, the pieces are a bit thick but I don't mind that especially since it gives me more quantity out of my pieces. The salmon is good, absolutely no complaints there, and for the price I'd say the salmon is one of the best things to get on the menu! The bluefin tuna was also tasty, however at an increased price I don't think it was worth that much of a premium. The toro definitely a middle ground between the salmon and the bluefin tuna for price, and could be worth it if you enjoy tuna. Overall, there's not much to say about Sushimoto because I had very little complaints. If you want a cheap sushi night that also provides decent quality then Sushimoto is your place. Would I come back? Definitely.

    Lunch Chirashi Don

Lunch Chirashi Don from sushimoto near holdom station, such a convenient location because it's right next to the skytrain station. The restaurant is small inside but it's nice and cozy. They have a good deal for the lunch special chirashi that has salmon, tuna, ebi, hokkigai, tai, tamago, masago served on sushi rice with unagi kabayaki sauce + miso soup for $14! Quite filling and good quality!

In the mood for sushi, Sushimoto popped up in my search for places close to where I was staying in Vancouver. Lucky me. Good service, well prepared food with good ingredients and a flair for presentation. What's not to like? The hand sanitizer at each table was a nice touch as well. Loved it.

    awesome cream cheese roll

I usually don't update reviews unless if there are changes made to the resto and service and Sushimoto deserved it! My cousin and I decided to stop by for dinner and they were available for dine in, however they initially turned us away because they were all filled inside but there was a table outside and they said they were okay with serving us there, which is why I am giving this place 4/5 instead of 5/5. We decided to get the organic alaska roll, dragon roll, awesome cream cheese roll and volcano roll. I was actually so impressed because the rolls are actually much bigger now, the last time I ate here the rolls were too small which was why I never returned until now. The rolls all had generous fillings, toppings and sauce. The organic alaska roll had alot of avocado and a nice salad dressing and the salmon was very fresh, it also came with a side salad. I usually am not one who enjoys cream cheese in a sushi roll but my cousin insisted on trying the awesome cream cheese roll and it was actually pretty good, the seared salmon on top paired nicely with it. The dragon roll was one of the better ones I've tried, the unagi was soo delicious. The volcano roll was pretty good too, the chopped scallop was so fresh and the spicy sauce was actually really good, not just spicy mayo. Overall, I had a nice experience here and wouldn't mind coming back.

Sushimoto was chosen as our venue for lunch the other day. An anticipated first-time visit for us - we arrived at the restaurant a few minutes before it opened at 11:30 am. The restaurant is located about mid-way in a small and rather neat & tidy plaza of retail shops and services at the base of a high-rise tower, adjacent the Holdom Skytrain Station. The restaurant is quite small, and cozy in its design, setup, colours, and decor. The largest tables are arranged along the window, remaining tables along the one inside wall, and down the centre section, plus, there's a long counter & chair setup directly in front of, and beneath the chef's doing their thing in the kitchen. For us, after getting settled into our table, it looked and 'felt' comfy. Service to our table was friendly and helpful -- our server kept tea mugs full, and showed attentive-caring to our dining enjoyment. What was ordered: dishes ordered arrived from kitchen to table in timely fashion and appropriate sequence -- all looking good -- and with 'warm' dishes nice and warm, 'cool' dishes 'the right' amount of cool -- my thoughts - "as good as it gets". Dishes and ingredients listed as (mostly) described in the in-house menu. - Lunch Special (one order) - Combination (mostly for Mom) - Philadelphia roll (avocado, salmon, cream cheese, smoked salmon on top), ebi (prawn) sunomono salad, and miso soup. - Lunch Special (two orders) - Chirashi (for daughter and I) - salmon, tuna, ebi (prawn), hokkigai (surf clam), tai (fish), tomago (egg), masago (fish roe), served on sushi rice, with unagi kabayaki sauce (bbq eel & soy based), and garnishes of shredded daikon, lemon slice, pickled ginger, and wasabi, and miso soup. - A La Carte: ika (squid) geso karaage (mostly for daughter and I), oyster motoyaki (for Mom), spicy agedashi tofu (w/spicy sauce on the side - shared), and korroke (sweet potato croquette - shared). Nice presentations - colourful and inviting. The preparations delicious -- ingredients of each, looking and tasting so fresh, very distinctly flavoured, and tasty. Quality ingredients, prepared with attention and care. The place was "cool", service good, and the food so fresh-tasting and well prepared. For a dining experience, that amounts to "as-good-as-it-gets' in my books!!

We took awhile to look so we were asked at once point if we were ready and we sis we needed a bit more time so the server was delightfully accommodating and said whenever we were ready to give a server a call. Later on when we were ready our order was taken by a male staff member. We ordered a decent amount. Miso cheese eggplant, chawan-mushi, fried fish collar served in some kind of broth, 8pc nigiri omakase, blue fin tuna&uni hand cone, another hand cone but I can't remember what was in it..wifey ordered it, vegetable tempura and a black truffle dynamite roll. The highlight for me was the black truffle dynamite roll, it's taste was perfect. The right amount of truffle used and not over powering like I've had at so many other venues. I was pleasantly surprised and delighted. It was smokey, earthy and tasted wonderful. The miso cheese eggplant was delicious, slightly salty from the miso and wonderfully roasted soft eggplant. The fish colar in broth was light and delicate, beautiful flavor and texture. Chawanmushi was soft and delicate, excellently flavored. The omakase which had fish from Japan was delicious, super fresh and masterfully prepared! The tempura came with a green tea seasalt which was different but very nice. For dessert we had the green tea tiramisu which was very tasty. The restaurant itself is small but cozy and wonderfully decorated. My wife and I had a wonderful meal and I would go back for special occasions.

The staffs/owner were very friendly and made great recommendations. Had the hamachi carpaccio, so refreshing and appetizing. The homemade ponzu (lemony) sauce has a nice finish with thin sliced onions and veggies. The Engawa Arburi nigiri was recommended, and it was phenomenal. It is the 'fin edge' of flounder. Super delicate, with seared (arburi) flavor and melts in your mouth. Yum! The other highlight was the Wagyu beef cubes severed on stick. Two skewers 4 cubes each. The Wagyu was perfectly cooked. It melts in your mouth with every bite. We also enjoyed the 7 piece Omakase sushi set. The fish was very fresh and satiating. Love the lotus root chips garnishing. We loved everything we had but would likely skip the Omakase appetizer Platter. Perhaps we were spoiled by the hamachi carpaccio appetizer. We still enjoyed it but For the same price, we would prefer the sushi set. It had 9 small plates in a beautiful serving box including- tiny sashimi cube of salmon, tuna, tamago, and my fav is the komochi nishin (herring fillets ("Nishin") layered over a base of crunchy capelin roe), also included in the tiny plates of apps were, chicken karaage, baby taco, sliced taco, taco in red sauce, and seaweed salad. We sat in a separate section of the restaurant with 3 tables at the front. We ordered chicken wings, assorted tempura, miso black cod and an order of beef teriyaki that was not on the menu. The servings are very small for the prices charged. We found that the chicken wings (only 4 small wings) $9.50 were a bit dry. The tempura batter was not as crisp or crunchy as we've had. The miso black cod was a very small portion - maybe 4 oz. for $18.00. We did not feel that there was value for the money. The food was average and the prices were too high for the quality and amount of food received. We did not enjoy the anime that was playing and we were glad that we were not sitting in the main dining room. Overall, we feel that there are better options for a Japanese meal.

Okeya Kyujiro is a Michelin one-star theatrical omakase restaurant, and when they say theatrical, they mean it! From the moment you're welcomed by smiling ushers in kimono to the closing tea ceremony, every movement feels intentional, precise, and elevated. The ambiance is serene and anticipatory. At the start, guests sit in silence as a black screen conceals the chefs. You see their shadows moving behind it. A bell rings, the screen lifts, and the performance begins. Dinner is a 25+ course experience priced at $325 per person. It's undeniably a splurge, but for a milestone celebration, it feels justified. The menu is seafood-forward, with many ingredients flown in from Japan. Each ingredient is presented before preparation, then carefully assembled and served directly from chef to guest. Courses arrive one by one, never rushed. The service team moves seamlessly in the background, refilling water and attending to drinks (available as an add-on) without disrupting the flow. The finale is a matcha ceremony, whisked in front of you with the same quiet precision that defines the evening. When the final sip is taken, the bell chimes once more, the chefs and staff bow, and the screens close. It was a beautifully choreographed dining experience, perfect for marking a special moment, and one I'd gladly return to for the next celebration.

This is a more theatrical style so expect louder music and a more theatrical experience (eg one of the servers played the flute for the guests celebrating birthdays). I prefer a more intimidate and interactive style of omakase where you can talk with the chefs. This lunch also felt a little fast in terms of progression of the meal. Some of the dishes were very tasty while others didn't wow us. With drinks, we were quite full despite some reviews saying portion is on the smaller size. Our total was around $500 with drinks for 2 people. A really good experience for omakase, especially if you are looking for a unique experience though not my favourite one I've tried.
