We drove around to find something to eat, than we checked this place on Yelp. So we gave them a try. I got 4 rolls ( 1 tempura, 2 philly, 1 big Texas) and 1 order of Miso soups. The ingredients are fresh and tasty. But the sushi is okay to compare the price with different place you can get more rolls. But I understand of the area so it's reasonable prices if you want to get quick sushi and services. At the end, they have the complimentary ice cream ( vanila only). The food was good. The sushi is clean and fresh. I saw some of the comments and was confused on if it would be ok or not but I tried it and I want to clarify that the food is good. It's not fancy and it's not the top of the line like Sage 400. I would say it's just below Miyako's. I used to like Euasion caddie corner from this place but the quality has gone downhill and now this spot is a good place if you need a sushi fix and live close by. The only thing was they did get busy and the food took a little longer, but we are talking about an extra 5 minutes. It was reasonable and the staff was respectful just very busy. read more

New owners since May 1st. It's a fresh start for a Sushi lovers heaven. Fresh, clean, all of the sushi is hidden away, but the 4 flatscreen Menu TVs explain all of the goods. You really just have to go with what you know and love. But everything we ordered was delicious, perfect temperatures, delicious. My only gripe would be cut the skin off of the cucumber. SushiPop is definitely not a high end sushi bar or one of those trendy poké places popping up all over town, but it is solid. You get a good amount of food for a reasonable price. The best day to come is Monday! If you come on a Monday between 5-10pm, any amount you spend will be matched in a gift card (sans tax) to use for your next visit. So basically, you're getting half off. That means a sushi burrito or bowl with 2 proteins for $5.50. I used to order the spicy salmon bowl to go, and it was a huge portion and came with lots of cucumber and avocado. I think their sizes have gotten a bit smaller, but it's still bigger than what you would get somewhere else. And they don't charge extra for avocado! So I'm sure you're wondering, "will I get the runs, though?" I've gotten the runs from other places before, like Blue Fish on Washington (also 2 other people who were with me that day). My SO has a weak stomach and is always running to the bathroom. Of the 4 times we've visited SushiPop, neither of us have had stomach issues. I heard about this concept awhile back and it really intrigued me. It's fast food sushi that's not really fast food, but a more casual take. They offer a WIDE variety of different items, yet the food still comes out pretty quickly. The only thing I wish was this place be positioned a little bit lower as far as price. We went to Sushipop for dinner after hearing some nice words about this fast order sushi joint. The first thing I notice is that they have a lot of baby seats lined up in the front. As we walked in, we were greeted by one of the cashier and asking if this is our first time. I told him yes and he went over on how to order the food here. However, he did not mention that they have a paper menu tape on the counter and display menu showing everything also at the order counter. Instead, we were standing in front of the TV menu which changes slowly and we were waiting there, trying to read the description before it blinks away. We went up to the front cash register and order some rolls (1 california roll, 1 spider roll, 1 fisherman roll) and also a bowl of chicken udon. Then we ask for 2 cups of water and the cashier ask if we wanted to add their unlimited yogurt to this. I didn't want to because I feel like their yogurt is not worth $2 something more even if it is "unlimited". But he did give us a little shot plastic cup to sample the yogurt just in case. Then they gave us the number sign (15 this time) and we find ourselves a seat in the booth. They have a flat screen TV showing Food Network shows hanging on the wall, next to the yogurt machine, utensil area, and the cola dispenser. As we wait for our food, we were admiring the interior decoration and the 80's pop music playing in the restaurant. The decor is really pop art like with the light lime green (my opinion of the green), white, and the maroons on the high wall area. It remind my girlfriend of inside a sushi (maroon represent the slice fish, green is the wasabi, and the white is the rice). We also like the little sushi pillows they hang on the wall near the door to the restroom. Also on that wall, they were selling some t-shirts. The order came out in good time (about 10 minutes) and to summarize the quality of the food, it was OK. First the udon looked really good and it came with this awkward ladle-spoon thing which was a bit hard to eat with. The food runner did bring us an extra bowl and ladle as we're sharing all of the food. The miso soup for the udon is a bit too salty and there weren't much of the chicken and the vegetables wasn't soft enough. The california roll was a bit disappointing. They made the ends look like it's burst with artifical crab meat, but I couldn't even taste any crab meats in the inner rolls. Also it wasn't properly made because both of us tried to pick up the sushi piece but it fell apart right away. The spider roll was OK also, the soft shell crab wasn't crunchy, maybe it's been fried for a while and it's been sitting there waiting for the next customer to order it so it can get eaten. Lastly the fisherman roll, one of their special rolls, was just spicy tuna with unagi on top. The taste was good because you would get the spicy from the tuna and then the flavor of eel kicking in your mouth. Once we finish the food, we went ahead and take our sample yogurt shot, fill it up, and take it to go. The yogurt was a nice surprise because we thought it was your typical plain frozen yogurt. But instead it had a hint of green tea and some sort of tropical fruit, I would say mango but I couldn't tell. The cashier should have inform us the flavor when he gave us the shot cup but it's all right, I like that suprise. Since they just open, I would give them a few months to work out some kinks in the quality of the food, but at least they got the speed down and maybe they should put some paper menus in the front so people won't stand in front of the screen waiting to change to the part of the menu they actually need to look at. read more

I've tried their salmon wrap and tuna wrap in the past and it sucked. I decided to give them another try, but this time I ordered the half spicy salmon, half tuna bowl. They are the same price if you were to order a full bowl of each, but I asked them to give me half & half. They ended up charging me an extra $4.00 for doing this. The receipt says extra tuna, but I didn't want extra tuna and nor did I get extra tuna. It is the same portion as if I were to order a regular salmon or tuna bowl. I was a bit upset at this fact, but kept on and tried out the bowl anyways. Do not expect the fish to be fresh and a good cut because its not. For the amount of fish you get and for the price, its not a bad deal. I do not mind ordering this again, but I will only order the salmon bowl next time. Ahhhh, I really like Sushipop's decor. I got the Big Texas roll. It didn't taste like it was overly fishy or too vegetabley. It was just the perfect mixture. I really recommend this roll to first time diners. My friends got the sushi wraps and they looked a lot like Chipotle's burritos. They're not as big stuffed (mainly rice from what I saw) and BROWN rice at that! My friend that got the seafood wrap said that it was just way too fishy. I purchased 3 half-priced Groupons a few weeks ago, according to the terms of the Groupon (2 for myself, 1 for a gift - for my husband). So, last weekend my husband and I wanted something fast for dinner, because we needed to drive up to the Woodlands for a concert. We only had 30 minutes to eat, so we thought we'd give Sushipop a try. That was our first mistake. We entered the restaurant, took a quick look at the blackboard specials, and hurried to the cashier to place our order. At the outset, I told him that we each had a Groupon that we'd like to redeem, so he could ring us up accordingly. He immediately went on the defensive and said that we could only redeem 1 Groupon. I told him that was ridiculous, because there were two of us, and we each had a Groupon to redeem. He gave me some lame excuse about how we had walked in together, so we could not redeem 2. I did not have time to argue with him, or ask for the manager, because we were on a tight schedule, so I let it go. We ordered 2 rolls and a miso soup, used 1 Groupon, and found a table. Immediately behind us was a large group of 6 ladies waiting in line to order. The reason I find this pertinent is because this large group of ladies, who ordered after us, received their order 3 minutes before we did. Now, normally, a 17 minute wait for sushi is not excessive. However, when you're advertising "fast" sushi, 17 minutes IS excessive, especially when the service times seem so inconsistent. When our sushi finally arrived, I laughed out loud at the size of the rolls. When we were placing our orders, I asked William how many pieces came with each of the rolls we were getting, so we could order accordingly. He told us they each came with 8 pieces, which sounded sufficient. Well, he was right, they DID each come with 8 pieces. What he failed to mention was they were 8 NICKEL-SIZED pieces. Needless to say, we scarfed down those 8 mini-pieces in less than 3 minutes, then ran out to door to catch our concert. I wish I could at least say that the flavor of the meal made up for the lack of service and speed and portion sizes. However, the rolls were bland as well. As mentioned in other reviews, I could probably get better flavor and portion sizes at HEB or Kroger. Overall, we were very disappointed in the entire experience. I hear they have free frozen yogurt. However, we never got to experience it because our "fast" sushi took FOREVER to get. read more

Interesting concept, bad execution. The idea of a sushi burrito really intrigued me. I like the informal, on the go, sushi idea. It sets your standards a bit lower, but you still know you're going to get your sushi craving taken care of. I had the spicy salmon wrap a la carte. The fish was ok and the roll fell apart easily making it difficult to enjoy. My brother had the wrap version of a dragon roll and a friend of mine had the ahi tuna wrap and they were both not impressed. Pricing is about $10 per person and the service is so so. I had the spicy tuna bowl on recommendation that I read in a ClutureMap article. So I cannot speak for any of the other food, but it was really GOOD! I had a bowl and a drink for $10, and it was healthy! nice big fresh slices of avocado and cucumber and a generous portion of spicy tuna. The food came promptly, and both rolls were very good and quite fresh, considering we got there an hour before closing. The udon was $8, but I think well worth it. Also, the soup was large- large enough for the leftovers to be a full meal. When you go to the bathrooms, keep walking. The lights are motion-sensitive and will turn on if you move. Soft serve Ice cream is free, which is pretty good. Last call for the kitchen is about 15 before closing. On Mondays, that's 9:45. Speaking of Monday, if you go there between 6 and 10 pm, you get a gift card equal to the amount you spend that expires 60 days after purchase. I'm impressed! I finally have a sushi place to add to the lineup of places to lunch at during the work week! We were greeted promptly and two people came over to explain how the ordering process works, so they're very helpful, too. For ~$11 (including tax) I had a 'flaming fish' combo -- spicy tuna roll with salmon and tuna sashimi, miso soup and drink. It was all very tasty, filling and satisfying! I was surprised at the spice in the roll...my lips were tingling. My bf had the 'high roller' combo which came with three hand rolled rolls...his was less filling, according to him. I would definitely recommend the flaming fish. I loved the miso soup (had mushrooms in it just like Fish), but the salad looked so tasty, I'll have to get it next time. The rolls are nothing exotic, but for a quick sushi fix, you can't really beat the options here. Service was fast and efficient.
