This sushi was so good! Everything was fresh and tasty! Little wasabi roll was the bomb. Try the firecracker roll for those of you who like things spicy. Such a pleasant surprise! We were seated right away, the wait staff was super friendly, our questions were answered quickly, my daughter's request was met with a smile, the food came out accurately and not rushed. Our additional order took no time at all. I was incredibly happy with the quality of the sushi - while we aren't sushi snobs, we know the differences between OK sushi, good sushi, and excellent sushi. The salmon was so good, we ordered additional pieces, which is usually something we only do at our go-to sushi place. The prices were very reasonable. read more

I love this place! I come here all the time for sushi. I've also had their hibachi grill once and it was great.

We were a group of 7 including 3 teenaged boys visiting Williamsburg, not your typical sushi diners but everyone agreed it was a great experience. We all had appetizers; the sashimi salad in particular was sizeable and very tasty. The boys shared a sushi boat while the adults shared a number of specialty roles. We particularly liked the dragon roll & Las Vegas rolls recommended by the waitress. While the food was very good, what put the experience over the top was the staff, especially our waitress. At first she almost seemed aggressive asking what we wanted and how she could help, but it became apparent that she just really wanted to be helpful and give great service. Overall, I strongly recommend Sushiya. read more

OMG!!! The sushi was absolutely delicious. Although I don't consider myself a sushi connoisseur this was some of the best I've had. The restaurant was clean, the decor, very pleasant and the service was outstanding. The dynamite role was to die for. I love everything about this place. The sushi bar is an excellent place to sit and relax by yourself, and the table service is very good as well. Everyone is very friendly and helpful, including the owner (who is usually working as sushi chef). I actually believe the service and food here are far superior to the previous occupant (Soya). I wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant; I think it's the best sushi spot currently open in Williamsburg, and I've been to 'em all. :) read more

Excellent experience! My fiancé and I were looking for somewhere great for dinner and we found it here. We got a hibachi dinner and a sushi dinner so we could try both specialties. I usually will not eat sushi because it is by fresh but theirs was fabulous! The hibachi was also great. Such a disappointing visit...and the most troubling is that no one on the staff really cared how disappointed I was with my meal. We were pretty regular here for lunch and dinner and it was becoming one of our go to restaurants in Williamsburg. We like hibachi, but not all the fanfare, so we typically order it on the restaurant side. The deal breaker is getting spicy mustard sausage, which isn't hard to make, I've looked it up. Well, we got there, quickly placed our order, asked for mustard sauce. Nothing. Drinks came, delivered with the typical ginger and yum yum sauce. I asked again for mustard sauce. Nothing. Next comes my 20 dollar hibachi steak dinner, very bland.. and they are out of mustard sauce, Really? They're is a grocery store in the same shopping center, if you are out of ingredients, go get them. I have never been so disappointed in the flavor of a hibachi steak. It was so bland, I didn't eat any of it. I told the waitress I didn't like it because of its blandness, she said ok, and took it away. We were charged full price...no apologies. We're not tourists, we were regulars. We just didn't feel like valued customers at all.. Certainly not worth the price we paid tonight. read more

I went here for a celebration lunch with my family and friends. I'm giving Sushiya one star because the food tasted fine. The service was terrible though. To begin with, the waitress was not going to smile no matter what. It seemed like we were hassling her by being there. We ordered the Vegetarian Roll Plate which was described as "Chef's choice 3 kind of rolls (total 18pcs), Futo Maki & Inari Plate." My friend ordered the Sushi Plate described as "3 pieces of Nigiri Tuna Roll & Shrimp Tempura Roll." When my vegetarian plate came it only had the three rolls on it. I asked the waitress about the Futo Maki and Inari and she said, "Sorry, the menu should have said "or" instead of having a comma between the rolls and the Futo Maki." I explained to her that it had a comma and then a "&", which led my husband and I to believe that all items were included. She just said, "Sorry, no." and walked away. Even though she acknowledged that their menu was wrong, she was not at all concerned about fixing it. She could have easily said that it was wrong, but that they would honor it. No, she didn't care that we were all left hungry. I had to order two more dishes for my kids since we only got 1/3 of the food that we thought we were getting. One of the dishes I ordered was a noodle bowl. It was such a small amount that my kids ate that in about 1 minute. Oh, and the three "chef's choice" rolls were of course the most basic rolls they could make. And, when we ordered she never asked us which option we wanted (the three rolls or the Futo Maki), so was it really an either or? Also, I mentioned what my friend ordered because the "&" in her description was honored. She received both the tuna roll and the tempura roll. And, our water glasses were hardly ever refilled. We would have made more of a fuss, but we were there with friends and didn't want to embarrass them or ruin the celebratory meal further. Clearly this restaurant is just concerned with gouging people rather than providing a nice experience. read more
