I absolutely hate to leave bad reviews, but I feel like people need to be warned. Stopped here for 4 cupcakes ((2 strawberry and 2 mint chocolate) and a cookie to share. When I say that was the driest vanilla cupcake I've ever had, it's not an exaggeration. It had to have been old? Not sure. I took a small bite and threw the rest away. The strawberry buttercream tasted old as well. I understand not wanting to throw away unsold product (pure speculation but I'm assuming with how dry the cake was and the weird texture of the buttercream that was the situation). I have no problem paying premium price for a premium product, but this was not that. When you're charging $5 for a small cupcake, you should put your best cupcake forward. Maybe sell the old ones as day olds and discount them? The chocolate was slightly better, but again most went into the trash. Even my roommate who has a huge sweet tooth said it was disgusting and threw them away. The cookie was unremarkable. I will say customer service was really good and packaging was cute, (even though putting them in a box with no dividers means they move around and get messed up) which makes leaving a bad review even harder! read more

The staff went above and beyond for my Holiday order. All staff members were smiling and positive in all the interactions with the customers. Susie Cakes used to be my absolute favorite cake spot. I'm really disappointed in their price gauging. I understand with inflation prices are higher, but these prices are shameful. Charging customers $3.00 to write on the cake is absurd. Since when did you start charging for writing? I would never charge extra for writing; it takes 5 seconds and the cost is under a nickel. $50 for a basic 6" cake is nuts. The cost of making a 6" buttercream cake is under $20, and yes, that includes high quality European butter. Honestly, the small $3 for writing is what got me. I asked for them to write on the cake. First, they looked like they didnt know what I was talking about and then they said they're too busy working on an order. wow! If you own Suzies, imagine paying your employees wages and benefits but they're too busy to do their job. 2 ladies behind the counter that are too busy to do their job! I've popped in to Susie Cakes for a sweet treat on many occasions. They have a constant selection of cupcakes and cakes and seasonal rotations too. I love the coconut cupcakes. Not overly coconutty but enough richness to make you so satisfied. Their Lemon is light and sweet and tart a at once. I'm not sure how they make that happen but it works. My kids love the chocolate with vanilla frosting, they showed me how to lick all the frosting off without getting any on your nose (it's a skill apparently) Last weekend I was browsing their website and saw they were doing a fundraiser for Ukraine so I got a few boxes of cupcakes to share with family and friends. What a generous and kind thing to do. They have little things for cakes too, candles etc. it's an excellent shop with high quality baked goods. Keep it coming Susie! read more

Came here on a Saturday afternoon to pick up some cupcakes and it was pretty busy, parking is easy in the shopping center and lots of people were picking up pre orders of cupcakes and cakes. They have slices of cake, cupcakes, and full cakes. The cakes definitely look so cute for parties and there are multiple layers. I was there specifically for cupcakes and I got each flavor they had. I asked what the most popular was and they said they're all pretty popular, but I don't really remember. I got red velvet, chocolate, vanilla, mocha, coconut, flourless chocolate (I think that one is gluten free), their seasonal cupcake was something I don't really remember... the cupcakes were pretty sweet, soft, and moist! They were regular priced, the inside was cute and there's plenty of outdoor seating outside to enjoy the weather or pick up other food. I can't support businesses that are moving us toward a dystopian future. We gave SusieCakes another try and ordered the coconut and pineapple cake for my son's birthday. It was ready on time, the inscription and sprinkles were as requested, and it must have been delicious because there was none left for us to try after my son and his fiancé were alone with it for a day. The service was fantastic and everything was so orderly--a complete change from my last experience. I'm delighted that the store is open again--masks are required and the number of people is limited--all as it should be. But, it is wonderful to be able to order in person and pick up a cake and see that what you have is what you want. I like their cakes, baked well and never complain about their taste. But I still don't under how they can have such bad cake decorating styles! I'm never impressed by any of the cake designs at Susie cakes and just decided to take that in. But when I come to the store and pay over $50 for a cake I would think the design would be more jaw dropping. I went into the store for a last minute birthday cake and ask if they can just write HAPPY BIRTHDAY on it. They literally just butchered the cake I should've left it blank. It would have looked less awkward. I mean sadly Safeway has better talent then the cake designs and there's not out of the box, creativity. Everything is plain and very cookie cutter. As we were walking around this area, we stumbled upon Susie Cakes and noticed the long line. And usually long lines = deliciousness. I looked at the online menu and saw that they had coconut cupcakes, of course we had to try it. I'm not a baker or cupcake connoisseur but the cake itself was dry, I don't know if they used yesterday's cupcake and added the frosting and shredded coconut on top, but I can certainly say it was dry. My husband's first thought was "It's dry. Let see what you think"- he was right. The frosting was super sweet. Have been browsing the beautiful cakes at Susie's Cakes for the past year. Been eyeing the 6-layer chocolate cake. Trying to find an excuse to buy an entire cake, not just a slice, even if the bakery also sells them by slice. Had a special event honoring a devoted educator and needed a cake for at least 15 people. Even though I didn't reserve a cake ahead of time, I decided to see what ready-made cakes Susie's Cakes offers. I was able to get a 12 inch round 6 layer chocolate cake custom decorated with confetti and a special greeting in a matter of 10-15 minutes. The young clerk assisting me was friendly, accommodating and all smiles. She shared that my cake of choice was her favorite too, and it tasted so good. After it was custom decorated, the young clerk carried the cake and carefully showed me the finished product. I approved and she boxed it gently, secured it with tape, and asked another clerk to help her put the massive box in a double bagged paper bag. Excellent service. I couldn't wait to get the cake home. Soon after dinner, our party sliced and shared the cake. Even those in our party who swore they'd never try any sweets couldn't resist. Each of us had a generous slice of the 6-layer chocolate cake. It is chocolatey rich but not awfully sweet. And, it is a decadent dessert. After dinner coffee or milk helps wash the wonderful dessert down. My family enjoyed the cake for the next 3 days. What a special treat. read more

This place is adorable. My friends and I walked in right before close and pretty much ordered one of everything. I ordered a slice of the cranberry orange cake (seasonal flavor) and the pumpkin cheesecake. I took them all to-go and pretty much devoured the cranberry orange cake when I got home. The frosting tasted like cream cheese, which I loved! I really enjoyed this cake. I was thinking the sprinkles were going to add too much sweetness even though it made such a pretty decoration. But I think it added more crunch than anything, which was a great additional texture to the soft texture of the cake. At the store, it was recommended to keep the cakes at room temperature if you don't plan to eat them right away. I can't speak for the pumpkin cheesecake because it's still sitting in the fridge. For my friends, I bought a brownie, mini red velvet cupcake and a slice of the tropical cake (covered in coconut shavings). They ended up taking it home too. I think the employees were patient with us considering we were the last customers in the store. They were also really friendly. I think the only thing I would like to see is prices on the individual items. It was a mystery how much we were going to spend until we made it to check-out. Although, I think it was a pleasant surprise that the items were not ridiculously overpriced. $25 for 5 items seemed more on the high end but the cake slices were pretty generous. We tried three different slices of cake, each slice is $6.50 (which I think is reasonable); the tropical (coconut with pieces of pineapple), the marble cake, and full on chocolate cake. Surprisingly- we all liked the coconut better thank the rest, although the rest were all pretty delicious. The marble cake however, got a little "crispy" by the morning time- so... there's that. Maybe I visited at a bad time during the day. Saturday late afternoon. Had to visit the CVS next door and thought I'd stop in for mini cupcakes for my son and I. The placed had a lot of customers walking in and out and their display looked really good. Mini cupcakes (2 of them) came out to about $4 I think. One vanilla, one red velvet. Both hard and stale I thought. Maybe it was just bad timing, maybe it was late in the day? It wasn't as fresh as I thought they'd be. Gotta give them a second chance the next time I'm up there. There's not much I can really say about SusieCakes that hasn't been said already except MAYBE - download the app and create an account immediately! You get tons of freebies including the obligatory free cake slice on your birthday ($7 value!) and lots of free cupcake deals through out the year plus more. And I think maybe there are some rewards on there as well (you just set up your card, no need to scan anything) - it's well worth it. Ok now that I've saved you some money - what is worth it here? Well, what keeps us coming back is the Traditional Chocolate Cake. No frills, just chocolate on chocolate and boy is it good chocolate. Moist cake in the middle with delicious-but-not-overly-sweet and smooth icing. Pair it with your favorite scoop of ice cream (ice cream sold separately) and you'll be a winner. If you don't enjoy it you must not have taste buds. For those of you who don't have taste buds, try one of the other cakes - I'm sure they're all great. P.S. I don't normally review but thought future customers should be aware. I ordered my birthday cake, the 6" lemon cake, as lemon curd is my favorite. When I cut into it, there were four layers of cake and curd. There was very little curd and the cake lacked in flavor. The outside of the cake was say too sweet with all the sugar crystals. My guests and I took one bite and pushed it aside. Very disappointing, especially for the price. I think I'll stick to the cupcakes because they are always moist and tasty. read more

I had a really horrible week and probably wasn't thinking straight when I put the order in, I meant to order a chocolate cake for my little brother's birthday but when I got there I realized I ordered vanilla. For context, my brother is very picky, he would not want the vanilla cake. The person working there was soooooooooooo kind and resolved the issue in the most graceful fashion. This review is long overdue but late is better than never! I threw my grandmother a 70th birthday party and ordered her 3 cakes from Susiecakes. Two Strawberry Shortcakes (which was a seasonal cake) and Tropical Coconut Cake (Which is like pineapple coconut, yum yum yummy!). What can I say? The process was super easy, I ordered them online and arranged for curbside pickup! Which I am glad I did because the day of the party was hectic for me! We went the weekend before the party to get slices of each cake that was ordered to make sure they were good (it was my first time trying Susie's) and they were delicious. Was referred to SusieCakes by a friend and since I was in the area I figured I would give it a try. Lemon cupcake: out of all of them this was the most disappointing one. When I ordered it I was excepting the cake part to be lemon, but here the cake is just a plain vanilla cake with lemon frosting. So bummed! I'm not the biggest fan of vanilla cake in general but this was just a mediocre tasting vanilla. Red Velvet: red velvet is a hard cake to master and this one was good but nothing mind blowing. It had good flavoring but the cake itself was a bit dry. The cream cheese frosting was phenomenal! If I could I would just order the frosting! Chocolate: This one was by far my favorite!
