Been here a couple of times and highly recommend this place. The inside has a hip and modern vibe and the service is good. Food-wise my favourites are the papaya salad, crispy pork app, the massaman curry, and the pad Thai. Each one is savoury and well balanced. Also recommend the green Thai tea. Hidden behind the Asia Foodmart parking lot is a strip of fairly new restaurants. Upon entering Susu Siam, the place appears to look stunning. Beautiful loungy decor, tinted windows, mood lighting..but somethtng threw me off immediately. The floors were slippery throughout the restaurant.. as if the floors were coated in grease. At first glance, the tables looked clean. But when you sat down and got a closer look, you can see the remnants of the ring of a plates and cups. The tables have not been wiped clean. At least I can say that about the 10 person table I sat on. I would expect that from a food court or a fast food restaurant but shouldnt be seen here. The server was friendly. Took our orders and asked about allergies, was attentive and brought out the food timely. Didnt have to wait to be seated for lunch. Moving on to the food. We tried the following: Green curry with fish was rich with a coconut milk base and a mild spice. Came with thai eggplant halves, green peppers slices and crunchy baby corn. Went great with the soft white fish. Very flavorful. Couldve came with a bit more rice. Pad thai with chicken was standard against other thai restaurants in the area. Good portion and large sized chicken and tofu pieces. Not heavy on the beansprouts which was a plus for me. Pad see mao was very flavourful. Always prefer this style thick noodle to the simpler pad see ew as it has more flavor and spice vs just soy sauce. Neat to see the whole peppercorn still on the stem. Papaya salad was great! Thin slices of perfectly ripe papaya with mini shrimps and topped with peanuts. The fish sauce dressing had great balance. Pineapple fried rice was presented beautifully in a carved out pineapple! Only down side to that is it became a space filler! Regardless, it was delicious. Great amount of spice. A generous amount of crispy pork belly. Big chunks of the sweetest most refreshing pineapple mixed into the piping hot rice. Grilled pork jowl was ok. Thinly sliced and had chewy texture. Came out with a balanced chili sauce to break through the fatty meat. Thai iced teas were too sweet. Was disapointed that they did not have the typical strong tea flavor. Even the color alone was telling. It was mainly milk and sugar. Was more sweet and icy than anything else. Overall the food was great yet I couldnt get over the greasy floors and that tables arent wiped down thouroughly between customers. Really hoping that was a one off. Because for a sit down restaurant serving great food with those price ranges, its disappointing. read more

What a great Thai option close to home! The best service we had as they were very attentive even when it was busy to check in and provide us water. The food itself was also better than expected. The flavours are authentic and could be adjusted for those who can't take 'too spicy'. The best was the Mama Tom Yum Noodle ($35, best value), any of their curries (includes rice!) and the Thai Fried Rice ($20, great umami without being too salty). I like how a variety of proteins is either included or just a slight upcharge for the rice or noodle dishes. Not to mention the seating and decor was quite unique and made it feel like a modern hang out spot. This place is inconsistent. The very first time I tried was excellent but the most recent visit wasn't good at all. The brisket was so tough so chewy that the meat was basically inedible. They have music and the staff are very welcoming. The food was so good! The crab fried rice is flavourful and medium spice is perfect but could be a bit too spicy for some (ex shin level?) There's a bunch of crab meat and a soft shell crab on top that has a flavourful fried crust. The pad Thai is savory and a nice portion. A great size for the cost. The fried wontons are crispy and a great appetizer. We didn't taste too much of the Tom yum flavour but overall taste was flavourful and a great texture. The mango sticky rice was quite good too. This plaza has a plethora of dining and drink options, but we decided to try out the Thai restaurant as a table of four. Atmosphere is modern and hip, with music thumping and a bustling dining area. Thankfully, they have plenty of tables so we were able to grab a seat even on a Saturday evening without reservations. We had the papaya salad, fish curry, beef noodle, and the seafood stirfry. They were happy to adjust the spice levels to our liking as we had people at the table that could not eat spicy food. As it is Thai food, a lot of the flavours tend towards the sweeter side, but everything was well balanced and delicious. This place had a massive line up, but it did not live up to the hype, the music was too loud we asked to turn it down they would not, we had a small baby, we ordered green curry panang curry, pass kee mao, fried rice and papaya salad. The panang curry was so bad, it was very sweet, bitter no flavor, The pad kee mao was pretty good, good amount of heat, noodles were soft and cooked perfectly, but the cleanliness was bad, the table was so dirty they tried their best to clean it but who wants to eat at dirty table. Their pad thai is pretty good but the panang curry was disappointing. I was actually surprised at how much I did not enjoy it, as I'm usually a huge fan of panang curry from most thai places. Hate to compare but Sukhothai is also in Scarborough and their panang curry is all I could think about while dining here. read more

Came here on a weekday night! It was busy, but we were seated immediately. Interior is nicely decorated and staff are super welcoming. I came here with 2 of my friends and we all shared their chicken wings, crispy Tom yum wontons, pad Thai, and panang curry. The apps were delicious, full of flavour, and had nice crispy textures. Met up with friends who recommended this Thai restaurant located opposite from the large 24/7 Asia Food Mart (a humongous Disneyland experience of Asian grocery/hot food items). Parking can be difficult due to the popularity of this Food Mart and the slew of restaurants within the same area. Impressive menu with many authentic Thai dishes listed, at first I thought no way, they can't pull this off but gladly they proved me wrong Majority of staff were Thai, gave me an opportunity to speak my very limited Thai. Staff constantly smiling and filling your water glass during the meal. This is what customer service should aspire to Unbelievable as I forgot to take photos before I devoured the dishes ordered, that's how good it was. Cabbage with fish sauce, it may sound offputting but they did it right, cabbage cooked/fried perfectly with a slight hint of fish sauce saltiness, umami and smokey aftertaste. Grilled pork jowl, grilled well, large portion, nanjim dipping sauce on point, chef/cooks know what they're doing!!! Panang curry w/chicken, good flavor but similar to many other restaurants I've visited, nothing special but curry lovers will be overjoyed. Pad Me Mao- stir fried flat noodles with a bunch of other ingredients (check out their menu list of ingredients for this dish). Masterfully combined and cooked. I did manage to take photos of the dessert, Pandan Thai toast, what a work of art, toasty bread chunks crispy with soft interior, Pandan normally suble but this one hits you hard which is a good thing, coconut ice cream excellent and home made, now that's what I'm talking about, A wonderful combination highly recommended. This place is huge, and had some pretty unique decorations as well. I imagine it'd be pretty busy for dinner given the surrounding area. I don't really get the hype for this place. It has been mid every time I have gone. Presentation is beautiful and restaurant has a nice ambience but the food isn't much to speak about. Service was nice but food came our very slowly and while the waiter did come to check on our table multiple times it was just to apologize that the kitchen was busy and that the previous waiter forgot to take our order and put it in. Had the Tom yum pot which came out lukewarm with a strangely bitter taste ( much more than it usually should be) and noodles were extremely soggy which I know is normal as they are instant noodles but they were even more overcooked than expected. Papaya salad was delicious but then again it's hard to go wrong with this dish. Fish cakes were 10/10 very delicious, juicy and flavourful. The saving grace of my meal. The restaurant had a modern, yet relaxed atmosphere where you feel like you could spend the evening chatting away with your friends or family. The green curry was good too, but it was a little too spicy for me. The disappointment was the crispy pork. Dropped in for dinner and the first thing I noticed was how pretty the place is--tons of space and really nice décor. Big menu with all the usual Thai favourites, so picking something wasn't hard. The Mama Tom Yum leaned overly sour, especially if the noodles sat in the broth too long. The salted egg salad sounded unique but didn't really deliver -- I could barely tell it had salted egg at all. It might be hard to find spots on the weekend, but the place is very spacious; just coming through their waiting area, the stroller was hard to get past. The server was pretty good, very attentive and explaining the foods to us. Everything we ordered was great, except for the pineapple fried rice; it wasn't to our taste. To me, something was missing; otherwise, my parents are okay with the dish. We love the Miang Crispy Pork, especially when you dip it in the sauce it comes with and wrap it with lettuce and rice. 3.5/5 stars ... which I'll round up to 4. Not quite a solid 4 because well ... there were hits and misses in terms of dishes and in terms of overall value, I felt underwhelmed compared to some of this resto's competitors. So first off, let's start w/ the location. Basically in the plaza right behind Daimaru Shabu Shabu. Parking shouldn't be an issue even at peak times (I would recommend parking in the Daimaru lot). The resto itself is actually quite big for a thai resto. I think it might be the same size as like Scarborough Deer Garden. On to the food. Pomelo salad: Very pretty presentation and the flavours and ingredients were unique. I don't think I've tried pomelo inside a salad before (this item is listed as seasonal). **HIGHLY RECOMMENDED** Chicken satay: More of a miss than a hit. Some of the satays were dry and the sauce wasn't rich enough. Also the price was steep ($14 for 4?.... nah fam). Penang curry, massaman curry, green curry: 1. massaman (w/ braised beef) - consensus #1 curry (very unique sweet n' sour flavour profile) **HIGHLY RECOMMENDED** 2. penang (w/ chicken) - very close 2nd place (a lil more kick than the massaman) 3. green (w/ beef) - VERY underwhelming (we were quite letdown by this green curry tbh; we've had MUCH better elsewhere) Susu pad thai (w/ beef): Very good pad thai. Same flavour as the one at Chiang Rai. MUCH bigger portion at Chiang Rai though (at the SAME price) so the value was severely lacking here. Pad prik pao talay: Ok this one was a big miss. Koh Lipe at Splendid China Tower serves the exact same dish but the dish is way bigger (you literally get a pile of seafood) and it's only slightly more expensive. Not only that, but Koh Lipe also makes the dish much tastier so it's really ez to compare the two and this one just feels extremely underwhelming. Pad kee mao (w/ crispy pork): It was aight. Frankly, I don't really find pad kee mao that tasty anyways so my opinion on this dish doesn't really matter. Crab fried rice: My friends and I liked the idea of the large, lump crab meat on top as garnish but the rice itself was basic. Mama tom yum: Another signature dish that looked really cool but the noodles they used resembled indomie (you know, like those packet noodles LOL). The broth was tasty though but the noodles were disappointing. Pu pad pong karee: Ok, this signature dish I really liked. There was a lot of crab meat in it to justify the high price and there was also a lot of spice running through it. Quite a heavy dish so you might wanna order this one to share and order some extra rice on the side. Khao soi (w/ braised beef): If I had to narrow down the best dish on the menu, it would be this. It might be one of the best khao sois up in the GTA. It beats out the one at Isaan Der, Koh Lipe and even Sukho Thai. Make sure you get the braised beef option. I promise you, out of all the proteins on the menu ... chicken, beef, shrimp, fish, braised beef ... braised beef brisket is so superior over the others. Don't even think twice, it's SO SOFT and just melts in your mouth). ***HIGHLY RECOMMENDED*** Mango sticky rice: We all enjoyed the sticky rice. It was a big hit. Super creative presentation w/ all the multicoloured rices and the mango knife art was pretty. Service was decent. They mixed up 1-2 orders due to the sheer size of our group (we had 10+ ppl). For the GTA area, Isaan Der and Koh Lipe are at the top of the mountain imo, with Chiang Rai, Sukho Thai and Jatujak following closely in 2nd tier. Susu Siam prolly sits in 3rd tier at the moment because not all the food is consistently good. Value is also quite lacking. If you compare their prices and portions w/ the competitors mentioned, it's hard to justify eating here on a frequent basis. read more

We ordered the Corn Salad with Salted Duck Egg, Moo Ping and the Shrimp Glass Noodles. The salad was a standout. The flavours of everything went together so well. The Moo Ping (pork skewers) were very tender and cooked perfectly. It came nice tamarind (?) dipping sauce. The glass noodles were good but nothing spectacular. It was stir fried in a soy based sauce and was good. We finished off the meal with the Thai Tea sundae which was a delight. It tased exactly like a Thai Milk tea. I went here for lunch on a weekday, it opens at 11am, the restaurant is very spacious with trendy deco. I tried their signature tom yum combo $35, it comes with shrimp, squid, mussels, deep fried pork, mushroom, cherry tomatoes, egg, homemade meatball and instant noodles. The pot looks small but it's very filling, I would say it can even fit 3 people. The tom yum soup is really delicious, deep fried pork is similar to the Chinese style pork but better, meatball is def my favorite, the seafood are very fresh, tender yet easy to chew. Came in here for a quick and early weeknight dinner and was pleasantly surprised, then a little annoyed but fairly satisfied at the end. The decor is nice and feels like a great date place to go for dinner. We were a little annoyed after being seated because music was blasting and fully explicit rap music. Definitely all 90s/2000s era rap including Eminem and Tupac. Despite all the f-bombs being blasted at us it was still pleasant experience in the end. Ok on to the food. My toddler has egg and wheat allergies and they were very accommodating about it. Iced tea was less sweet and more tannin-y than other places. 9/10 Pad kee mao was pretty standard tasting but probably because of the allergy accommodations. Docking a few points because it was really oily. After we were done there was a pool of it on the plate. 7/10 Pork jowl was incredible. Not much to say about it. 10/10 Papaya salad was excellent too. Crunchy, flavourful and seasoned well. 9/10 Overall I would recommend this place for a nicer dinner vs every day Thai. I thought the portions were a big on the smaller size for the price. I think the curry could have been hotter, it just taste more room temperature and I just wanted something like hot and spicy that day. The pad see ew was okay, again I thought the portion could be a bit bigger. The staff was friendly and the food came up quickly. I don't know how else to put it but the food just felt very mid to me. Venue 5/5 Very similar style to Isaan Der (from same creative group). Abundant free parking in the plaza, easy to access via car or transit. It is on Silver star Blvd in the China city plaza. Food 4.5/5 The massaman curry was delightful with the coconut yogurt mix. The Pad see ew with beef had a little kick on the spice level which was great. This place gets busy so make sure you get a reservation or in get in early so you don't have to wait. Inside is a spacious seating area with rather spaced out seating. There is a large variety on their menu and some items that I haven't seen before. Service was fast and food came pretty quick! Pomelo salad - A seasonal item and glad we got to try it! Pomelo was nice and plump, mixed in with a fish sauce based dressing, cashews, lime bits and chillis. Sauce was so go I had to mix it in with the pad kee mao! Would highly recommend! Khao soi with braised beef - My goto dish to test Thai restos and this one did not disappoint. Creamy coconut curry broth with regular noodles in the broth and deep fried noods on top. The real start of the show was the soft braised beef, worth the $3 upgrade. Would get again. Pad kee mao with crispy pork - Druken noodles another popular thai dish. The rice noodles were thick and uneven making every bite slightly different. The Crispy pork was well mixed into the dish, but was pretty fatty. The dressing from the pomelo salad was a great addition to the cripsy pork. The added acidity help cut the fat and the fish sauce added some more svouriness to the dish. Nice to try. Service was great! I was welcomed right away when I walked into the restaurant. The decor was very nice. Upscale looking. The savoury food that we had wasn't the best. It was a tom yom signature dish but it was served with something like an I start noodle which took away from the upscaleness of the place. The soup lacked a bit of bite. Could definitely be better but the mango sticky rice was delicious and the Thai milk tea...also delicious! read more

Great looking restaurant. Beautiful decor. Amazing server! Always so attentive and someone was always refilling our water. This 5 star review is only for their beef Khao soi which was the only thing our table ordered. I got the spicy version of the dish and it did not disappoint. The beef was super tender, almost creamy. The soup was so well rounded and rich. Eating this was an EXPERIENCE. I would definitely go back and try other items on the menu as I had such a great impression with their one dish. read more
