The most rushed manicure ever. I was in and out in about 10 minutes. The woman was more concerned about who else was in the salon than she was in providing me a decent manicure. She literally just splashed the softener and mineral oil n my cuticles. And the finished nails were cut unevenly. Terribly disappointed in the service I received. There were obviously locals in the salon receiving better service than I was. Maybe that's the key. You need to be a local. If you're from out of town I'd strongly suggest going somewhere else. read more

If only you could leave negative stars. A friend recommended I stop by here so I was excited to try this place. Unfortunately, I just had the worst experience. I walked in before 5 pm to see if they could do a manicure. "5 minutes, pick a color". Great. Picked a color. They were busy so I was asked to sit in a pedicure chair to wait. No big deal. Called a friend at 5 to let her know as we had plans later. 15 min later, they finally applied the gel removal liquid and foils. Sat for another 15 min. Finally, at 5:40 I had to scratch off what was left and get going. I asked for a file from one of the staff who didn't even respond verbally - just rudely turned away. Finally she handed one over. I called my friend to say I was on the way to meet her around the corner. At 5:45, they saw me get up and started literally scolding me about not being patient and waiting. They insisted I pay $10 for the gel removal when I did all the removing! I was furious but it was literally three ladies yelling at me to pay and this random dude on his phone rolling his eyes. I know these times are difficult for everyone and didn't want to be "that person" so I paid but I am definitely never going back and do not recommend this place. Honestly if they had just said, "come back later or tomorrow," I totally respect that! Treat your customers with respect, even if they are new ones. Especially if they are new ones! Even if I did arrive when you said I did at 5:15 (which is wrong), that would have been nearly half an hour of waiting around. Since then, another friend who used to be Yelp Elite and lived in the neighborhood told me about the bad experience she had at Sutter Nails -- and how the review she posted here was later deleted so I won't be surprised if this disappears. After 60 reviews here on Yelp, this is my first negative review - I try to live by that saying "if you can't say anything nice, don't say it at all." So I don't see any further point in continuing this unpleasant dialog - all the best to you and your employees. I used to come here regularly because it was cheaper and closer to my apartment than my other go-to spot in Russian hill. They were inconsistent with quality and service (especially in comparison to the Russian Hill spot), but I told myself it was worth it for the lower price and time save. The last straw was when they applied my gel-x so thick that the nails looked like they were lifting up. I didn't notice it at first but once I got home and really looked at my nails it was so obvious. It looked awful so [[HIGHLIGHT]]I went back in to ask them if there was any way to fix it and they were very defensive and said it was my fault because my nails were too thin.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] That was never an issue at the other salon and I also wish they weren't so defensive about it and said something at the time if the thinness of my nails was going to be an issue. I was a regular at this point and I felt like they didn't care about doing a good job or providing good service so I stopped coming altogether. I hate to give such a bad rating but honestly I've been here 2 times and both times I've had horrible experiences. Both experiences are similar. I came on a Friday with an appointment for a regular mani pedi for 4:30pm, after choosing my color I was sat down and they started working on my feet within 10 minutes. Halfway through my pedicure 2 people walked in with no appointment and they were attended to immediately, the girl that was doing my nails stopped and started on theirs and left me hanging with only 1 coat on my toes for 40 minutes, my friend had to tell her nail girl to stop her nails and finish mine because I had somewhere to be. My manicure was very halfass and it was done in 3 minutes, the polish looked horrible, my nails weren't properly cleaned up, and they ended up cracking within hours of leaving the salon. I spent 2 hours of just sitting on the chair waiting to be attended to like they did to I'm guessing is some of their favorite costumers since they are allowed to just walk in and get their nails done even before the people that have appointments. I won't be going back. Other friends that have been here have noticed the lack of attention they pay to new comers or younger people in general. I hope they notice that what they are doing is not okay and everyone deserves to get pampered equally. read more

Mediocre set up for a nail salon. Came here for my holiday season plus new years' nails. I didn't know that they only accept cash and only found out by looking around to see how other customers were paying (looking at their nail deisgns at the same time). When I told them that I didn't have cash and that I can go to a bank ATM store to get cash, (which I have done before in a nail salon), they stopped halfay on my nail treatment without putting the polish on. I was really disappointed on their service on that part. It was an unpleasant nail treatment time. These are like my pamper time for myself. The nail technician that was shaping my nails told me regular fill on full set was $40 for regular nail polish. I found my way to Sutter Nails this past weekend thanks to an Instagram connection. Honestly, I've passed by this nail salon many times on my commute to and from FiDi, but never stopped in. I really was missing out. Not only was it easy to schedule an ONLINE appt, but I literally was in an out with a gel mani + pedi within an hour. The quality of work is great and I appreciated the price point, as well. Gel mani + Gel pedi = $65. There was a $10 gel removal fee so the total came out to be $75. They overcharge for their services. Got charged my credit card a different amount from what I was told ( I had ti oat $75 and got charged $80). The ladies will file your nails however they want and not what you request. Wanted square nails and the person files them round. When I asked her to fix them, she got mad. i hate leaving bad reviews, but the issues here are so easy to fix- honoring appointments and turning away people you can't fit in. At one point there were 3 employees and 8 clients (they kept saying, come in). While I was there (being shifted from table to pedicure chair and from one tech to another for a simple gel manicure), one woman walked out and another pulled her feet from the bowl saying it had gone cold. The male tech didn't listen to me- nails are too short, wrong shape and two tilt to side. Was literally about to ask to pay and walk out without polish when a female tech took over. She was pleasant but it was far from a nice experience (all the clients were agitated at the wait) and I won't be back. read more
