Let me start this out by saying I never thought I would have to be writing this review because of…read morethe funeral for my 6 year old Grandson. When my daughter had the unfathomable task to plan the funeral for her first born child she asked me to help her find the best funeral home in San Antonio. Without hesitation I replied, Porter Loring. I already knew the reputation that Porter Loring had of being compassionate and providing quality care for the deceased and the families of the deceased. They certainly lived up to their reputation. They took care of everything for my daughter and son-in-law and most of all they provided immaculate care for my Grandson. I want to recognize everyone at Porter Loring for the outstanding job they did for my entire family. From the funeral directors: Crystal G., Amy G., Daniel G., Barrett S., Marisa M. To the amazing care team: Lexi L., Elena M., Bethany J., Avery M., Claudia R., Danny G., Shawn R., Kaine C., Hector G., Jermaine A., Aubrey C., Tetiana D. Administrators: Kelsey H., Amy N., Cristina R., Amy D., Dina A. Service Associates: Glori R., Riley R., Louis L. This entire staff deserves recognition because they showed my family that we weren't just another family experiencing the loss of a loved one. They treated us like family and displayed the utmost professionalism I have ever witnessed. Thank you to everyone at Porter Loring for making this experience better than we could have ever imagined.

I have nothing but great reviews for delcrest funeral home. Tom handled everything with a lot of…read morecare , consideration, and compassion. My dad looked as good as could be expected and was arranged in a way that made him look as though he was in peace. The memorial was very thoughtfuly put together and the setting, picture slide show, songs, and flower arrangement were professionally done in a way that showed us that he cared about our loss. I would highly recommend him as the one who handles your arrangements, he did a fantastic job. Dan did a good job as well

I appreciate everything he did for us. Dan on the other hand is another story, initially when we came in to start preparations he failed to mention that only 2 people were allowed in the office to make arrangements so myself and my husband drove all the way over there only to sit in the lobby for the 3 hours while the arrangements were being made. I completely understand the restrictions this business has put in place but Dan could have easily communicated this prior to the meeting so we could have planned accordingly. The one and only time I spoke to Dan over the phone he quickly got frustrated because we reached out to the church to ask a question before he had a chance to confirm the services, his condescending response was "do you want to coordinate everything or do you want us to" pretty sure we're paying you thousands of dollars to handle the arrangements but it's well within our right to call the church as well if we have questions. The day of the burial was the icing on the cake, we were told to get to the funeral home by 8:30 so we could take the family car to the cemetery. We arrived at 8:20 only to be told by Dan that the car had left already. Dan explained he hadn't heard from us so he sent the hurst and family car to the cemetery. First off what was the point of sending an EMPTY family car to the cemetery? Second Dan made no attempts to reach our family the morning of the burial, even if it was to say "I'm sorry the car needs to leave just make your way to the cemetery" but zero communication was attempted. After driving ourselves from the funeral home to the cemetery we barley made it for the services because of traffic and my brother in law missed part of the ceremony. On a day where we are grieving and saying our last goodbyes to a loved one was instead filled with stress that was unnecessary due to Dan's lack of communication. As an entity with several locations and that has been around several years I expect more from the funeral directors you intrust with the coordination of these services.

This cemetery has no respect for the deceased. Our Grandson recently passed away and we placed…read moreflowers and a few little cars. He passed at 6 years of age and we took him his favorite flowers and the cars he liked. These cars were the size of a matchbox. We placed a bouquet of yellow and blue flowers and we had to zip tie them together because we didn't want them to fly away. We went today and they took all his cars and for some stupid reason they took all his yellow flowers and left his blue flowers. They cut the zip ties and threw the zip ties on his grave. They discarded everything with absolutely no care. It was already a devastating loss in our lives and for them to treat my grandsons graveside like trash is ridiculous and utterly disgusting. We were planning on removing everything this Friday the 6th because they posted the next flower pick up was scheduled for March 10th through the 12th. They jumped the gun and they should have had the decency to wait a few more days and this disgusting gesture would've never happened. Very dissaapointed and sad. I'm ashamed at everyone at Fort Sam National Cemetery

I myself am a Veteran of The Gulf War in the 90s and as a Disabled Lady Vet I will likely be interred here as well. I like that they give me options as I can be cremated, or have any casket I like interred here, and my husband can be buried with me. My children will have a beautiful place to visit us and their ancestors. i love that it is kept neat and tidy and the rows are very impressive. You DO have to follow their guidelines as to what can be placed with your loved ones on the graves during visits as well as what type of flowers can be left there. JUST AN FYI, do not leave anything at ANY cemetery that you will be devastated if it is stolen. I saw someone on here post that their little boys cars were taken by the grounds keepers and zip ties were left on the grave. That was more likely done by someone stealing them. I have seen it at every cemetery here in San Antonio. I have literally watched ppl steel flowers off someone's grave and put it on their loved ones. It is very disgraceful but it happens. I am a bit scared to be a lady vet buried alongside all the good ole boy vets who did not like women serving, but I served my country well and will till the day I go, not my administration, my country, my children's country, my grandchildren's country. I just hope those men don't haunt me day and night. lol.
