I first came to Dr. Sablan when I started getting jaw pain from my braces at another orthodontist. I visited multiple doctors to try and find a solution and only Dr. Sablan was able to supply us with one. She explained to us how she went through jaw pain herself and was very thorough and patient when explaining the procedure to us. Even though I had already had braces for 2 years, she offered to take me in as a patient and continue. After 2 more years, my jaw pain was almost completely gone and my teeth were straight. I am so thankful to everyone in the office to helping me get through this process. The dental people are also super generous when helping with the community. I was trying to collect toothbrushes to distribute to the homeless and I decided to ask the dental people if they had any extras that they could provide me. Although I had only expected around a couple toothbrushes, they ended up giving me an entire box of newly packed toothbrushes to give out to the homeless. I have never met such a welcoming and generous dental facility than the Dental People and I am so grateful that I made the decision to come over here. read more

I drove by the The Dental People and decided to stop in and see if I could get a cleaning. They were able to get me in an hour after I stopped by They were professional, courteous and informed me about everything that was going to happen. The cleaning was painless and very quick, although they did want me to come back in for a "deep cleaning" where other dentists merely did both the cleaning and deep cleaning at the same time, so I was a little confused with that. other than that, though, the experience was very good ! read more

Try Dr. Sablan if you need a skilled and friendly dentist. She takes most insurance, including Delta Dental (and it can be hard to find good dentists who take Delta). She's so nice! She's not pushy about cosmetic work, but she did talk to me about it when I asked her to. She and her dental hygienist, Rosa, were REALLY accommodating of the fact that I'm kind of phobic about dental cleanings. They asked me enough questions to find out what specific things bother me, and Dr. Sablan gave me a prescription for a mild sedative for next time. (She also offered to let me use my iPod.) Rosa was really patient and informative during my polishing, and very gentle, too. She didn't scold me about not flossing, which I was afraid of, and when she did demonstrate flossing on me, it was the first time in my life that I haven't bled during flossing. And the patient coordinator, Melissa, is super nice and friendly. They're also available for Saturday appointments. I have a pretty good Delta plan, but from talking to my friends after I got my bill, I suspect that Dr. Sablan's fees are lower than most dentists' to start out with. The office is is clean and friendly; just bring your DS Lite and be thankful that they're not cranking up the fees to splash out on HD TVs and fancy aquariums. Super plush, spa-like dentists have to pay for all that gear somehow, right? Now in a new location on Stevenson near Paseo Padre and Liberty, next to Fuzio's former place. I hate dentists. I hate the smell of their offices, I hate the high pitched squeal of the drills boring into teeth, I hate the times they need to stab me with those little needles to numb my mouth, I hate the guilt they put me through for whatever thing they are nitpicking that day, and I hate hate hate the pain I'm paying them to inflict upon me. I think is the FIRST TIME I've ever went to the dentist, and actually didn't cringe once - not from pain, not from a lambasting about how I should brush, and definitely not from the bill at the end. Dr. Sablan and her staff are professional, efficient, and quite possibly the most gentle dental office I've been to. I went in for two fillings and a cleaning, and it was fabulous. When I got my teeth cleaned, the Hygienist was sweet and informative - she informed me on what was going on every step of the way so there would be no surprises. She was so gentle when cleaning my teeth that I practically fell asleep in the chair (and that NEVER happens! Seriously!) When it came to my fillings, Dr. Sablan was just as gentle. She actually got the shots done so that they didn't hurt (the numbing agent was on for the right amount of time for once). The drilling portion of the fillings wasn't to bad either...I still didn't like it, but she got it done as quickly and painlessly as possible. Best part - she didn't make me feel guilty at all for not getting my biannual cleaning - what can I say, life happens - and she didn't make me feel like I needed to get other treatments done immediately. I would like to get my smile more in order, but she helped me weigh my options and plan out when would be a good time to get them done. This is very rare in the dental world - most dentists I know will hound you if you don't get a certain tooth straightened immediately. Dr. Sablan explained the pros and cons of waiting, and we came to an agreement that if I wait until my next appointment that it won't kill me. Wonderful! As for the administrative side, Melissa, got all the little details in order - I was fully aware of what amount I would be paying, she efficiently scheduled my upcoming appointments, and even got a postcard to remind me of my 6 month check up. Best of all, she was very pleasant to deal with, and I wasn't feeling forced into anything. Awesomeness to the max! All in all, this was a pleasant experience. I don't usually recommend dentists - heck, I would avoid all dentists at all costs if I could, but after this experience, my view on dental work has changed. I'm not dreading my next appointment, and I just might make that 6 month checkup this time. Highly recommended! read more

I love going here. Never thought I'd say I like going to the dentist but this is unlike other places. Dr Sablan and the staff really care and make you feel comfortable and relaxed. I especially like that they have a TV above each chair so when you're getting work done you're not just staring at the ceiling anymore. Dr. Sablan and her entire team is awesome! I've always dreaded going to the dentist, for 2 reasons, 1.) I'm scared and 2.) the cost. The clinic is absolutely beautiful and high tech. Personnel is very helpful, and they put you at ease. Starting with Melissa in the front desk, to Manny, the most awesome dental hygienist I know! Manny was very gentle, and very cool to talk to. And of course Dr. Sablan. They all made me feel at home. The last time I was at the dentist at Brookvale Family at the HUB, they basically did the xray and ran my insurance, and flat out told me that's all they can do, because my insurance can't cover the entire cost of the work that needs to get done, unless of course I sign up for this dental credit account. I felt like I was at a department store, pressured to apply for a credit. It was not like that at all in Dr. Sablan's clinic. Melissa was very informative, she explained to me and showed me what my insurance covers, and how much my copays will be. She broke down all the different work that I need done, and how much it will cost me, and how much my insurance covers. I highly highly recommend this clinic! read more

From the front office to the technicians to Dr Sabian this is by the best and most professional dental office I have ever visited.

I have been hesitant to go to any dentist as I only trust my long time and VERY fantastic Dr. Francisco - but unfortunately I cannot make the commute due to the fact I am constantly busy on the weekends and she is located in San Jose. (review of her office - Irma Francisco, DDS is to come) . But after much convincing, I went forth and ventured to Dr. Sablan. Today was my first visit, and What a beautiful office! Located next to Charles Schwab between liberty and Stevenson, its hard to miss. Very convenient -right in the heart of Fremont. Very kind staff and a very down to earth dentist. Angela was my RDH, she was SUCH a sweetheart and SO patient and understood my horrible gag reflex when she had to take pics of my mouth. She explained every procedure that she was doing and what tools she was using right down to the gum checks - You know the part where they say random numbers - I didn't know what they meant til today! They also have a bevy of channels to watch on the personal TVs, and will make sure you are comfortable. I was given a pair of glasses as well, so that the light they use during the procedure did not harm my eyes. I felt comfortable and welcomed just with her. Dr. Sablan was also professional and thorough, but demeanor was if you had met her before. At least that's what my impression was. She also gave me some advice in regards to my diabetes and ways I might notice that it may be uncontrolled. The reception was Very nice and thorough-Melissa went through my insurance at the very end, and made sure I understood all the charges before I left. I never felt rushed, I felt confident in my care and none of them ever asked me if I wanted to buy one of those horribly expensive toothbrushes. (that wouldve honestly been a dealbreaker for me) lol The office itself is small but well kept, clean and beautiful. They also offer a neat text message service. For me I respond better to text, and when I recieved a text from the office Reminding me of my appointment, I was completely amazed, cool idea! Let me start off by saying that I have had many dentists in the past. Every single dentist before I found Dr. Sablan had trouble properly numbing me before procedures.. One dentist claimed I must have an extra nerve somewhere.. another just decided to give me more shots. The end result was always a long and painful visit. And slowly, over time I developed a fear of / frustration with getting my teeth worked on. That was before I found Dr. Sablan @ The Dental People. Dr. Sablan has abolished my fear of the dental chair and really opened my eyes to how going to the dentist does not have to be an uncomfortable experience. She is very thorough and precise with her work and has obviously learned techniques my previous dentists lacked. The procedure and all my options were explained with clarity. I was encouraged to ask questions but I had none, Also, the billing process was very clear and a piece of cake. The new location is easy to find, high tech and very modern. Every time I come back for a cleaning they have new gadgets... (i.e. tv's and fancy x-ray technology) Everyone in the office is always pleasant and helpful. The thought of going to the dentist makes me want to throw up. I am deathly afraid of the dentist. My last dental visit prior to coming here was 10 years ago. I am 26 years old now with gap (almost looks like one is missing), crooked, and teeth filled with cavities, or so I thought. After reading the reviews of how gentle this office is, I decided to give it a shot. First appointment: Melissa - Melissa is the first point of contact, she'll get all your information and schedule your appointment. You can provide all your information online too! She's also the person to talk to about how much a procedure is going to cost and how you would go about paying for it. I found her to be extremely friendly and kept me at ease on my first visit. Kelly - Next came Kelly, Kelly did my x-rays and unlike getting x-rays in the past, she didn't make me gag or bite on those stupid things in such awkward positions where it would hurt my mouth. Kelly made several adjustments when I told her the bite was uncomfortable. Thelma - Thelma started with the periodontal examination and probing. She spent plenty of time explaining to me why my gums bled and what I needed to do to take care of them. She even broke out a book with pictures and explained everything thoroughly. She recommended a deep cleaning for my upper jaw as I had a few areas of probe depth of 5, which is bad! These areas bled when I flossed. Thelma then did my cleaning and again, this is the first time I actually enjoyed my cleaning. I had a few sensitive areas that I warned her about and she worked around those areas. Kudos! Dr Sablan - Dr Sablan came to talk to me before my cleaning and after my cleaning to discuss what I wanted to do. I told her I was tired of hiding my smile and wanted to have a normal smile. We went over my x-rays and she said I had only 3 cavities. This was a shocker! I was so sure that every tooth had a cavity! I was told that I needed an extraction for a root canal that I had when I was 16. I didn't mind as the tooth gets swollen every few months and hurts like crazy. I was also told that I needed braces because I had an impacted canine (I just thought I had a missing tooth) that needs to be brought down and that would require braces. I agreed. Before leaving, I asked for a sedative for my future visits and Dr Sablan obliged. --- Second appointment: After my first visit, I felt a bit better but was still anxious because today is the first day of drilling (my biggest fear). About 1 hour before my appointment I took the Valium that was prescribed. I showed up at the dentist feeling great, no nausea like I normally do. I had 3 fillings to take care of. Two on top next to each other and one on the bottom. They were pretty bad and required getting numbed and shot. Dr. Sablan did a great job and I hardly felt a thing. The best part was she didn't rush anything. Dr. Sablan allowed the numbing cream to set in before she gave me the shot and again she waited for the shot to numb me before she started drilling. I had a dentist that went straight for the drill after giving me a shot, I will beat that guy down if I ever see him again! Dr. Sablan told me that they're not supposed to do that, it needs a bit of time to work. I was done in about an hour and didn't have to miss work. Yippee. Looking forward to my next appointment! I got one more visit to make my mouth healthy before I get my braces on. Will update again after I get my braces. read more

Dr. Sablan is amazing and extremely gentle. I had an infected tooth, my molar it was soooo bad, and I was so scared. It went by so fast, and so painless. Made my fear of the dentist mos def go away. All the staff was great and very polite. They have a great payment plan, and they do offer discounts as well. :) read more

This is probably a poor analogy, but the best way I'd like to think about this dental office is to treat it like a local oil change shop. It has friendly staff and does a simple dental cleaning job quickly. But I would not suggest relying on their service and recommendation for anything more serious beyond the normal 6-months cleaning. If you are just looking for a place for your 6 month cleaning, this is probably an OK place to go. But if recommended for any major procedure, I'd highly recommend to get a 2nd opinion to confirm the necessity of the procedure. read more

I have been seeing Dr. Sablan for years. I'm not sure how many but it's at least ten, maybe more. I have baggage from many bad experiences at the dentist as a child and as a young adult. I hate to go to the dentist but there is no reason to worry when I see Dr. Sablan. If you are scared to see the dentist, she is the dentist for you!!!!! I used to need laughing gas but I don't anymore. I trust her completely....... She is extremely gentle, takes her time and has never hurt me once. And I have needed multiple fillings replaced, two root canals and five crowns over the years. I would get multiple cavities at a time as a child and as those fillings and teeth break, repair work is needed. I have bad teeth..... She is kind and senstive to dental phobias and likes to help people get over their fear of the dentist. She explains what she is doing and always asks me if I am okay throughout the procedure. She runs on time. I am never kept waiting and I really appreciate that. She is conservative. She only treats when necessary unlike many other dentists. Her facilities are state-of-the art. You can just tell that she uses high quality equipment. I appreciate being able to watch TV (from overhead) because it offers a distraction. They let me pick the channel. Her staff is great. The hygienists are really good. Gentle and conscientious. I especially like Manny. My husband is now seeing Dr. Sablan too and really likes her. I also send my friend to her and she's been a patient for years. I had a crown replaced today and it didn't hurt at all! Go see her. You won't regret it. read more

We moved to the Fremont area about a year ago, and needed to find a new dentist. Fortunately we found Dr. Sablan and her wonderful staff, and have been more than satisfied. Over the past year I have had to have a number of crowns and a root canal (which I knew had been coming for a while), but had tried to ignore growing pain because I hate dental procedures (TMJ problems). Dr. Sablan and her staff made it as comfortable and pain free as possible, and I am now pain free for the first time in years. She also handles my son's orthodontic care, and we are equally pleased. He too has some TMJ problems, and she is very careful and attentive to straighten his teeth and protect his jaw at the same time. From previous bad experience elsewhere I know that not all dentists take that care. read more

This place is OK for a regular 6 months cleaning but nothing beyond that. It was a total ripoff for me even though I had a very good insurance. On top of that, they accidentally took out my old filing and refused to do it again free of charge. read more

My wife and I both went to The Dental People when we moved here. My wife left first: she had two fillings done in teeth that had been watched by previous dentists for years, and those fillings caused her major tooth sensitivity that she still has to this day. I lasted a couple years longer, perhaps because I've had so much dental work that I tolerate tooth sensitivity better than my wife does. In the end I had to leave because I just couldn't be confident that the work would be done well. I had a crown done (it's a rear molar, so it was a gold crown), but apparently they took a bad impression, and it had to be "shaped" with a drill (multiple times) so it didn't impact my upper molar. That's not supposed to happen. So from day one, my crown has had a hole in the gold layer that's supposed to protect it. My new dentist has to check it at very visit for structural integrity. I also had a filling done on one of my other molars. Except now I've got a temporary crown on that tooth, because in the span of less than two years the filling broke. The 5-6 year old filling right next to it, done by my old dentist in Kansas? That one's doing just fine. Fillings are supposed to last longer than two years. I also was pushed into getting a night guard, likely because they wanted to blame my crown damage on teeth grinding (which I don't do; furthermore, if I did grind my teeth and the grinding caused the damage, the older gold crown I have directly *above* the damaged crown would show similar damage, and it doesn't). So for some reason I acceded to a night guard. Except the first night I tried it, it didn't fit. I wore it anyway, and my teeth ached the entire day afterward. Not to mention that they shouldn't have pushed me into a night guard anyway because I was in the process of getting a dental implant and didn't have all my teeth, so the night guard would be instantly obsolete in a few months anyway. Competence isn't just a problem with the dentists here: at one point during a cleaning the hygienist literally started to try to pull one of my ceramic crowns off. Ceramic crowns typically have a "seam" above the gum line where they attach to the tooth, and I kid you not, he started tugging at the crown with his metal cleaning pick like he wanted to pull it off. Multiple times! Until I went "AAAAAH" and he stopped. Why would he do that? Anyway, to sum it up: 2 bad fillings for my wife, (at least) 1 bad filling for me, 1 bad crown for me, 1 bad night guard for me. This isn't the level of competence I expect from a dentist, and I've had *a lot* of dental work in my life. Are they nice people? Sure. Great. Maybe they're fun to hang out with. But they just don't do quality dental work. If you're one of those lucky souls who never gets cavities and never has trouble, by all means -- go to the Dental People for your cleanings. But as soon as you need actual work done, find someone else. read more

My first installment of getting a deep cleaning was fabulous. I was worried for nothing. Almost completely painless. I had a sore jaw later when I got home, no big deal. I had my procedure broken down to four quadrants which really helped with my vertigo and probably with pain. If you pay cash you save 10%. Glad to be finally getting this done. OK yelpers as I stated in my first review with my awesome dentist I just had a cleaning done and Coco the one that cleaned my teeth was 10 stars. She was great she went the extra mile with my crazy teeth. Then she went into full education mode on my gums and the right way to brush and floss. Everyone at this place is just beyond 10 stars in my book. I really wish I could give these guys zero stars. Where do I start, their number one goal in this office is to fleece you of every possible cent. Very simple. Charge you top dollar for lousy work. I had been coming here probably for 9 months on the recommendation of my wife based on yelp reviews. I decided to give it a shot. I needed a crown for a root canal I had done perhaps a year before my appointment. Tooth was good, but crown was needed. Dr Sablan shaved tooth, put in crown, and a couple of days after crown was put in that side of my mouth started hurting viciously. Went back, and she probably spent 3 mins shaving crown before rushing off to get the next patient. Tooth kept hurting, I went back, and the first thing I was told was that I should get a bridge which would have cost over $2000. They did lousy work, and they wanted me to pay even more to fix the mistake! Laughable. Customer service here was zilch. The staff seem like they are afraid of Dr Sablan. I would never go back, and please believe me, they don't deserve a cent of your money! I don't even write reviews, but I feel compelled to do this for public service. Stay Away! read more

When we first started with Dr. Sablan years ago, I made sure to inform her I don't like heavy handed hygienist or dentists do to bad experiences in the past. Well, we got lucky. She and all the hygienist I've encountered there are very light handed and careful not only with me but my children. Also, they do not try to force-sell you procedures (even if you need it). I have referred her to my family and friends and have even run into some of them there. This last cleaning I had Maria. She was awesome !! read more

I like the facilities, staff, & Dr Sablan. However, the only real complaint I had is that I had my cavity filled, but it seems to hurt off and on. It had to be refilled again on my second visit. I like the receptionist (Melissa is it?) but I think she is a little aggressive and overzealous. I don't mean that she wants to fight you -- just very aggressive with the sale. I wish I could give a separate rating for the staff which would be 4.5 stars. Dr. Sablan herself gets zero from me. The doctor saw me an hour and half after my appointment time after I was done with X-rays, cleaning and the basic exam, all done by a very nice dentist assistant. For the 4 minutes that Dr. Sablan spend with me, she showed me pictures of my teeth on my screen and then proceeded to walk out without giving me any info about what to do about my cavities and other things that I was concerned about.
