While my family and I visited Atlanta during Hurricane Irma we needed a shelter for Lady Bast (our…read morecat) fast. This place was located near my moms house, so I really ended up choosing them out of convenience. I was concerned because it was a new place, I had no idea about who they were, and anytime you have to board your pet it can be a gamble in a new place. All I could hope for was the best. It's not like our furry friends could tell us if they were mistreated. But, if you know them well enough, you could tell. Boarding fees vary by the weight of your pet. Any pet weighing zero to fifteen pounds costs fifteen dollars. We paid fifteen dollars to board Bast, she was there for five days. It was thee longest five days ever! I called them to check on her and each time they told me she was doing great. What else could they say, right? I had to trust their word and keep it moving. When we picked her up she looked a little shaken up but I could tell almost immediately, she was fine. Bast is a little aggressive with strangers and the worse thing would be for one of these centers associates to react to her aggression and do something hurtful to her. After a few days at home with us we could tell she was back to her normal self and probably forgotten all about us leaving her.

They use the most updated and advanced veterinary technology. If they come across a situation that goes above their level of expertise, they have industry specialists they have experienced working with, that you can feel comfortable referring to, that they either bring in, or will continue communication with as they send you to them. The doctors at Village Vets always, ALWAYS follow up with you after you bring your pet in for something. If you are concerned about an issue, you can count on them to explain things to you, in detail so you understand any decisions you have to make and be completely comfortable making them. You never, ever feel rushed and you feel as if you've made a lifetime friend that you'd literally do anything for. I moved to another side of town where I cannot use Village Vets anymore, yet I still send my pets recent records to them for their opinions or call for advice. (If you decide to do this, please donate to their Sissie Sassie fund which helps those that come into unexpected vet bills for their pets, among other great things! You can call the office for details on how to donate). I have been to 4 different vets in my area, which is a good area, and these vets are considered good vets loved by many. However, they don't come close to what I had at Village Vets and I just have not been able to find that trust or connection which is imperative for pets that are aging or have health issues. Thank you Village Vets for being there for our furry family members!!

Funny thing, I had done all the rIght things but if I had gone to the vet it would've been less work for me and my grandma dog wouldn't have suffered so long with the itching. Dr. Nicole Aponte and every member of the staff at SMAH have proven over the years to be my greatest ally in the care of my pets. Dr. Aponte is thorough in her examinations and takes the time to explain everything to me. She knows each of my cats by name and remembers their history and frankly this is better than I manage on a daily basis. If I ever have questions or concerns she addresses them in terms I can understand. Over the years she and the whole staff have taught me to administer sub-Q fluids at home (saving tons of money for me and lots of stress for the feline who needed them). They have been a shoulder to cry on when it's time to let one go off to the Bridge. They are, quite simply, they people I trust completely with the pets I love. This place isn't fancy, and located down a drive off Memorial just eat of Hairston (just west of the entrance to the Wells Fargo) you might miss it. The much more fancy, state of the art hospital is located on Sugarloaf Parkway in Snellville and this is just a short drive if things like orthopaedic surgery is needed. My Phoebe had to have knee surgery when she was only 16 months and Dr. Brown did a great job out of Snellville. If you live within 15 miles and don't see this vet you are missing a great opportunity.
