There is a bench to sit on and wait for your order to be filled. There are four picnic tables with umbrellas if you wish to eat outside. The guy behind the window was incredibly five-star friendly and efficient. I had my food in maybe four minutes tops! I ordered the Chopped Pork sandwich, fries, slaw, and a fountain drink. I was asked if I want BBQ or mustard-based sauce and I went with mustard. It came to $10 and was packaged just fine. I decided to eat at a picnic table and had no problem finding some shade. The crinkle cut fries were a very large portion and hot and crispy and damn fine. The Cole slaw was a little tangy and tasted great. Now for the sandwich which should be the star of the show. Not so much! It was a very skimpy portion of pork. I could get more pork in my sandwich just about anywhere. What was there was tasty, and the sauce was good, but I was disappointed. I was supplied with napkins, but I really really needed one of those wet wipes. They should fix that. As I prepared to leave, I discovered there was no trash can. What the hell! So, I took my trash and my sticky hands to my car. As I drove home with my trash next to me and my hands stuck to the steering wheel, I contemplated this review. The best I can do is an overall three stars. There are a plethora of BBQ joints in Central Florida and it's easy to do better than this!

Nothing was overly salty and everything we ordered we would all order again. The Chef Salad was large and looked fancy with fresh vegetables and lettuce and meat and cheese roll ups. The Texas Club was a tasty chicken salad sandwich on crisp Texas Toast with a nice light taste. The Country Fried Chicken was moist, easy to cut with a fork and seasoned just right. We don't often find a fried chicken breast as nice as this one. The fried green tomatoes were plentiful and prepared just right and perfectly crisp. Our server today was Annabel and she was just as friendly and attentive as we wanted/needed. When we sat down, I was hoping this might become my new favorite restaurant and they lived up to that hope. We live close to an hour away but I'm thinking we may drive back for breakfast tomorrow. This is most definitely a highly recommended place to visit.

I ordered a broiled combo plate that included snow crab legs, scallops, shrimp and fish (cod or grouper, I don't recall). I chose two sides, a salad and fried spinach. Prior to our meals we had a cup of New England clam chowder. The clam chowder was delicious and had large pieces of clam in it. All the mentioned seafood items on the plate were perfectly broiled, all of which you could tell were fresh (including the crab legs, which were plump and moist). The salad was okay, as was the interesting fried spinach. The better half had the shrimp & grits as her entree. She enjoyed and commented about how much shrimp there was atop the "grits" on her plate. I tasted it and it was okay to me. The wait service was above standard, with an attentive yet not annoying waitress. Overall I/we would eat here again; and with those $5 Old Fashions might have to make it an every 4 to 6 week ritual. It's that 40 minute drive that may curtail that thought. Time will tell.

The small size was a 12 ounce styrofoam cup so plenty for 2 people. The only reason I did not give 5 stars was because they were out of 2 of their main meats. This is definitely tops for bbq.

I think this location is even better than the Lakeland location because it is a little bigger than the parking lot is much better. They still have that absolutely fabulous crispy fried chicken that is so delicious. I love that you can cater it to your personal spice level. I like mine medium, but my mom prefers hers with no spice. Their fried chicken stays crispy even when it gets cold. Sometimes I'll go and grab myself some lunch while I'm at work and then get some fried chicken to take home to my husband for dinner and it's still crispy and juicy and fabulous. I also love that they have a meal that was invented for me. My favorite thing to order is called, The my girl ain't hungry. It consists of one giant chicken, tender in your choice of fried or grilled with a side and a drink for eight dollars. It is the perfect portion for me. Now, when people come to visit me in Winter Haven, lovebird is always one of the places I recommend we grab lunch.

We shared the onion loaf to start and had a variety of dishes around the table from steak, lobster tails, grouper, scallops, and the multitude of accompaniments. Everything was cooked beautifully! Especially the scallops. That was probably my favorite since they melted like butter in the mouth. I also enjoyed the hush puppies that were served with every main dish. Bonus points for the fact that many of the dressings and sauces are made in house. Since it was an occasion, we had some chocolate cake for dessert which didn't disappoint. After she kept me waiting so long it missed out?!?!? Thankfully there was another person there who said I could order breakfast. The food came in a to go container, not sure why, and when they asked if I wanted it to go, and I said no, they took it back to the kitchen where it felt like they just dumped it onto a plate and brought it back out. Interesting. After listening to the conversation going on, apparently the owners had fired everyone and brought in an all new crew. I had the second person she my server was brand new, so that might account for some of the concerns I had. If I go back, it won't be for a few months to let everyone get their legs under them and maybe things will change?

The…read moreoverall vibe was chaotic, hot, humid, and sub-par cleanliness with profanity-laced dollar bills stapled all over. Florida! I'm certain the condiment bottles in scattered baskets never get cleaned. I never leave poor reviews, but potential guests must be warned of this place. My elderly aunt and I arrived at 4:10pm after driving an hour to this place for a late lunch. It was Father's Day, so the place was packed and busy. So busy, that the wait staff were frantically running around the place. Upon arrival, we were greeted by a young hostess who looked as if she were in a total daze. We were told there would be a wait, though an approximate time was not given, so we decided to saddle up to the bar outside which was filthy with wet coasters and squeezed lime wedges and trash littered all over the floor. When we were finally texted that our table was ready, at 4:50pm, we were sat outside at a table with a dirty ashtray. We placed our order and waited for another 30 minutes for a two salads and bread (served with "butter", which was really an oily margarine with herbs). Only one salad made it to the table, and the fried pickles were brought 10 minutes before my salad was served with nervous laughter by our waitress. The manager did come to our table to apologize for our waiting, so I politely requested a free beer for our trouble, which was denied. I work at a brewery and give free draft beer if someone has to wait more than 5 minutes! So, she offered a cheesecake instead, which we thanked her for (and which costs their business more than a free draft pour, but I digress). Another 25 minutes pass, which places us at 5:45pm, over 1.5 hours past our arrival. The food finally comes to the table. I placed two orders for hushpuppies, but only one order made it to the table. They were not very good at all. My aunt ordered shrimp with cocktail sauce, but it wasn't cocktail sauce. It was salsa! The waitress explained to us that seating had recently been expanded, but the kitchen staff had not, which was more than obvious. In the end, our food was comped 100%, but the poor experience really ruined our appetite, so we didn't finish our food. While we did have some beers and a cocktail, at no point were we offered water, and the free cheesecake the polite yet condescending manager offered never made it to the table. They didn't have the good sense to tell folks at the door that the wait time was closer to an hour, completely overwhelming themselves instead of taking care of the large parties that were already dining. Gators aren't the only thing to beware of at Cherry Pocket!

Looking at the reviews already posted makes this place seem bipolar. Maybe it has everything to do with the day of the week, the cooks/chefs on staff and/or managers/wait staff present. This was a Saturday, so.... The better half wanted to sit indoors and the DIL outdoors. A compromise was made and the table selected was in between. The service was exceptional by our waitress (I wish we could recall her name). A solo musician played mellow music and had good vocals. Very relaxing atmosphere. All the food ordered was tasty and abundant. The highlight was the Grouper sandwich the better half raved about, even the day after she was talking about it. The meals came with a tasty brown bread and house salad, which was a nice addition. The drinks were not watered down and well made, at a price point that was quite acceptable. We all look forward to returning; but it may need to another Saturday if that's when they have the A-Team working.
