Everything we have tried is delicious, country ham with eggs, biscuit and gravy is just like my Grandma used to make. The smoked sausage is fantastic! Been there once for dinner on a Friday night for the all you can eat fish fry, it's spot on and they keep bringing it out to you. Awesome...the great, friendly wait staff never let our sweet tea (which was incredible) get anywhere near empty. Then came the food which was top notch and plentiful. This is a hit and Miss restaurant. Some times it is the best home cooking you could ask for, then other days you get the worst. I know this because I order from Homeside almost every day. They have unbeatable cheese burgers and some of the plate lunches are great. I don't know anything about their atmosphere I just hope for the best on that I am DoorDasher. read more

I am visiting family in Florence. This is my first visit to this restaurant. There is plenty parking. The menu has breakfast, lunch items and dinners. My Granddaughter and I came for breakfast on a Saturday morning. There is not a kid menu. That is disappointing when you have a seven year old. Prices are reasonable. Serving sizes are good. You seat yourself. The owner has my deepest sympathy because he had two servers call in and two people in the kitchen as well. I must say the owner jumped in and helped with keeping drinks filled and bussing tables. I had two eggs over medium, bacon, biscuit and white country gravy. My eggs were cooked to perfection but cold. Bacon was crisp and tasted good. Biscuits appeared to be made from scratch. The gravy was bland and not very good. I did not eat mine. My Granddaughter had silver dollars pancakes. She ate less than half because it was a serving for an adult. I tasted them and they were good. The syrup is not maple. It was a commercial thin pancake syrup. Real butter is not used. When I paid the check there was a cooler with iced down small bottles of Coke Classic. I bought one and it was so good. The help was friendly with smiles on their faces. Be prepared to pay 3% of your check total if you use debit or credit card. No sign or warning till you get your receipt read more

Boy, they lost a regular customer today. Tried to serve cold pancakes then tried to serve "nuked" , but pancakes were unacceptable. The waitress, who we were told was in charge said she would replace... We never got pancakes, she said "their grill was too small"... Poor excuses, Chef Mike ( microwave) is a deathnail to a decent restaurant.. You lost a weekly patron over 3 cold pancakes and lazy management. read more

Stay away. I understand that food is cooked to order, but so are many other restaurants that don't take 30 plus minutes to cook breakfast, kinda like Waffle House. I entered the building around 12:30. It is very friendly and shows a very southern manner of design. The personality of the restaurant is open, with friendly staff. Currently, they are impressive with their short staff and show empathy to those that are new to their location. It seems that it is like a seasoned waterhole for locals, instead of a boxed out version of a corporate franchise. There is also a feel of a bygone era, which creeps around the wall, while modern in it's technological use. The ribeye steak was ordered medium rare, which is done to perfection. Been here a few times for breakfast... very good !!! And great service!!!!! Any ways....I've had some really bad drive-through fast food experiences lately. We were looking for some late lunch,So I looked online and saw home side was open for 15 more minutes last Sunday I phoned in a cheeseburger and fries for pickup! It was really good !! And was ready in ten minutes ! I walked in, paid and enjoyed the heck outta my lunch !!! I'm just about done with drive through food !!! I have a group of friends who have met regularly for breakfast at the restaurant location on Huntsville Rd for years. This morning I took my dog to the groomer which happened to be on Cloverdale Rd. so I decided to stop and have a sit down breakfast. The good ol boys filled the place and my mouth was already watering for some country ham. There was one waitress and the poor girl did a Hurculean job of serving, busing tables and checking people out. When she greeted me at my table I joked if they had her cooking too. The first thing she told be was they were OUT of country ham. It was 7:30 am, mind you. So I ordered two eggs with sausage, biscuit, and grits. When I was served the first thing I did was butter the biscuit with the pack on the plate and picked it up to take a bite. It FELL APART! That is the first sign of a biscuit that has been frozen and warmed up in the microwave. Disappointed, I took my fork and picked up a portion. When I tasted the biscuit it was bitter, that is a sign of too much baking soda, also a frozen biscuit. I am not saying they were not homemade, just homemade sometime in the past and warmed in the microwave. The grits were practically water. AND the sausage tasted old. I brought all this up to the waitress/bus person/greeter/cashier when I paid the check and she apologized and said the biscuits were made today. SOME might but it appears they were long gone and those in the freezer was used, at least on my plate. Overall, a disappointing country ham breakfast without country ham. read more

Very nice home-style restaurant. No much to look at on the outside but the inside was clean and looked like my own dining room. Our waitress was very friendly and the service was great. I had one of the daily specials, country-fried steak. My wife had the grilled pork chops. My food was very good, maybe not great tho. My wife loved the chops, green beans and okra. The fish they serve is a catfish-like variety called Pangea. We didn't order it but our waitress had them cook a small filet to try. It was similar to catfish or Swai. Their seasoning gives the filet a good flavor. I will probably get the full fish meal on my next visit. We got plenty of food including dessert for a very good price. I recently got the catfish plate. Let me say it was the Oil plate. The catfish was soaked in oil . the fries weres soaked in oil. The onion was at the bottom of the plate and was soaked and cooked in hot oil. I mean it could have been an oil change in my car. It was rediculous. I took my order home and I wrapped everything in paper towels and reheated in microwave trying to remove the fat / the grease / the oil. It was nasty. I've never had this experience at this location..... but I have had this type thing at the huntsville road location.... where i had a breakfast..... eggs were soaked and floating in oil. Bacon and Sausage was floating in oil....... I mean same idiot must have likely cooked this crap. So needless to say - i will not be back - either location - because you never know where this idiot cook may be ! Total disaster ! read more
