Our first time here. We ordered the cod dinner with 2 sides. They have many more sides to pick from than most places. Received 3 medium sized fish filets, fried to perfection!!! I added salt and had green beans seasoned with bacon and onion, fried okra, which, incidentally, was some of the best okra I've ever eaten. Onion rings were delish, not greasy at all. Potato salad was just so so; it's yellow (mustard base) and the potatoes were hard. They only take cash for food. Thankfully they had an atm in the game room. Serve alcohol and we had Coke and Iced tea, which is poured out of Milo's gallon, unsweetened. We ate at 6 and they were already out of many sides. Go early. Friendly staff! Place your order and when they call your order number, you raised your hand and they brought it to your table. Definitely will be back!! We only found out about this place from the locals in Belleville so we had to give it a try! It is a quality, family-owned stand. They were welcoming and excited for us to try their food. We got the fried cod and it was cooked perfectly; crispy on the outside, soft and flaky on the inside. Can't wait to come back! read more

Not amazing but not bad. The fish was freshly cooked but a little over fried to me. The fries were fried perfectly but they had a distinct frist bitten taste. The fried okra was tasty and the hush puppies were a hit. The mac and cheese was bland and the portion was not enough for my 10 year old (if she would have liked it). The small brownie bite with the kid's meal was yummy.(per my kids) but the grocers are fair and portions of fish are decent. read more

I ordered take out catfish plate with hush puppies and baked beans. Also ordered take out kids cod plate. When I got home, the 5 piece order of hush puppies were all visibly burned and enclosed in foil (see attached picture). The cat and cod fish was just OK but didn't taste freshly made. The baked beans tasted like they were straight from the can with little seasoning. I won't be back. read more

Do not order the onion rings or the french fries. I went there last week and had to throw about 1/2 of them away. They were fried too much. Not edible because they were too hard. My girl friend went this week and had the same problem. Use to be a good place to eat - not anymore. read more

Party of 9 and everyone loved their food. Shared on our end...had the cod, chicken, shrimp, fries, coleslaw, beans n tator salad. Everything was fresh and on point. Best fish place I have ever had. The fish is fresh and hot. Yummy flavor. The homemade hot sauce goes great with it. The sides are tasty. However I wish you it came in a larger size. Even though the sides I had (mac and cheese, potatoe salad, baked beans) were delicious, I believe it wasn't the right value. I would suggest raising the price for a more adequate size for the sides. I really want to try the desserts. Customer Service is top notch. I would definately be going here everytime I visit my parents in Belleville. read more

We absolutely love Swansea fish stand. They are open year round and in our opinion have the 1st/2nd best fish in the area. My wife and I can't agree on who is First or second but they are amazing. They have cod, cat, blue gill and walleye regularly. We go often and they are consistently amazing! read more

Catfish was phenomenal. Unbelievable slaw. Okra was great. Everything felt very home cooked. Staff was very friendly. Only down side is drinks come from VFW next door. Not a problem considering how great the food is. Will definitely come again! read more

I would have never found this place and had never heard of it tell it came up in yelp! However I am glad it did! The hubby got catfish and I got shrimp! They seem to make there food as it's order so that it's very fresh and hot!!! Both of our entrees were hot, tasty, and you could tell fresh!!! The sides were good but portions were kinda small!! They have a house made hot sauce that's like a bbq hot sauce which I really liked! We went on a Friday but it seems like they have other/extra options in the menu for Saturday! Tried calling starting at 7pm the phone just rang no one answered. So I drove down and was told at 7:35 that they were closed. I tried to explain that I started calling at 7 and the women said that was a busy time. I didn't get a busy signal no one answered. So they really close at 7 not 8pm. read more

Fish doesn't get better than this! Fresh all the time. You know it's good when the locals are willing to wait an hour! Condiments are fresh and the drinks cold. No free refills, but the taste and freshness are totally worth it all. Definitely recommend calling in advance during Lent. read more

Yum , I have seen the sign for years . Thought it was closer to luckys bar . After driving a few blocks , I finally found it . Glad I did . Ordered the catfish platter and a pound of walleye . You have many sides to choose from , but we went with onion rings and fries . Passed on the bread . But it was offered . Tarter sauce came in those gross packets . I'm not a catfish person , the weird nuggets are sometimes too fishy and have too much skin or dark flesh . Here you get a nice fillet . At first , you would think $10 for a catfish platter that only has 1 piece of catfish would be a little high . This fillet was big , hot , and perfectly cooked . The absolute best catfish I have ever eaten . Remember catfish Charlie's in ofallon ? Even better here ! I normally like walleye better but not in this case . Wifey liked the walleye bc she is a walleye fan and has a problem with catfish . I'm the same way but , I guess a little more subjective . The onion rings were sweet and crunchy without being too bready and the fries were crinkle cuts - eh average fries , could have been a little crunchier . I would normally give 4 stars for the tarter sauce packets , and the only 1 piece of fish for $10 . But after eating it , more than fair . Delish place . Will be back soon to try the cod and bluegill . The last 2 varieties of fish available there . Oh , the walleye was $13.75 a pound . The walleye breading and catfish breading were different . This is not the fish stand it use to be. They run out of fish early on a Saturday. You call and order your food they tell you a time, you come to pick up at that time and you still have to wait at least another half hour or so, only to find out your food has been setting there all this time. The portion sizes are getting smaller. You use to get 3 pieces of fish and now 2 small pieces. The service sucks, not the first time for any of these problems. I will no longer go back, not a happy customer. read more
