This place is fantastic! A great blend on traditional American breakfast with an Asian twist. The Chicken Katsu Curry was delicious, chicken was perfectly prepared and the gravy a perfect compliment. My friend got the SBC Omelette and enjoyed it very much as well. If you are hungry the portions will definitely satisfy you. It was quite busy and the device was good. Great little find just looking for a random place to grab breakfast.
I love this place!!! I visited from out of town and went with friends. We went when they opened so it wasn't too busy just yet. The service was great and the staff were nice. The food was so delicious. They did not skimp on the serving size at all. It was a lot of food but I loved it!
A wonderful little brunch spot in Portland! The menu here has something for everyone and has some brunch classics as well as many unique dishes. This is a homey little brunch spot that we stopped at while staying downtown. They do not do reservations so I recommend getting there early. We got there just before 10am on a Saturday and were sat immediately, but within 20mins there was a wait. The restaurant is fairly small, but it adds to the coziness of it. The staff was friendly and attentive. We got the crispy bacon to start and split it for our table. I am not a fan of bacon, but this was good and was a nice combination of salty with a hint of sweetness. The restaurant made a delcious chai latte which I had with my meal, and others at the table said their lattes and coffees were solid. For my main dish I had the chicken and waffles which looked out of a cookbook! Visually they looked splendid and they tasted just as good. My husband had the loco moco which was also solid. The pricing of everything on their menu was in line with what I expect from most brunch places now a days. If you are in or around Portland, I would definitely add this to your must-try brunch spots!
A cozy brunch spot in NW Portland! Homey vibes with good food, Sweet Bacon checks all the boxes. The utilize Yelp waitlist, a great option to check the wait before you head out! We waited about 25 minutes on a Sunday. Sweet Bacon has everything brunch should have - scrambles, pancakes, waffles, french toast, eggs benedicts, and even some house specialities (katsu curry, loco moco). They have it all! I got the florentine eggs benedict and it was good! Good portions and the crispy potatoes were a table favorite. Everything was prepared well despite it being rush hour. I was pleasantly surprised by my visit and would be willing to return!

The service was good and I appreciated the big menu with fusion items and some more traditional brunch offerings. We started with the namesake, candied bacon for the table. The bacon came out quickly and was good. I'm not sure I would get it again, but it seems like the kind of novelty thing you just have to try at least once. It was sweet, salty, and savory. I went with the sausage scrambled which was very flavorful, one of the better scrambles I've had! The sausage, onion, cheese, and spinach all worked well. I also liked the option for an English muffin on the side. I will say that I felt like their breakfast potatoes were on the large side for me. I love a crispy potato and these were too big to be crispy. Overall this is a solid brunch spot if you are looking for something special that also offers more traditional options. I've heard great things about the katsu curry and the pancakes and french toast look so good. I'll definitely be back to try more!

Been a few times and they are a solid choice. Weekends can be packed so I recommend during the week if you can. Staff is very friendly and accommodating. They have a couple of rooms with plenty of tables, a bar, and covered outdoor seating. It's in a resident home so it gives that warm homey feel. Had the Yakuza Katsu curry and the chick pops first time - both were amazing the sauce on the Yakuza can be really spicy if you like that; I found it very flavorful. The chick pops are a must - probably my favorite thing that I've eaten there. Perfect sweet and savory combination. I tried the seafood omelette and their famous bacon. I would like to see the bacon cooked as your order it - seems premade but it was still tasty. The seafood omelette was FULL of crab, salmon and other juicy seafood; made well and not dry despite it being in a well cooked omelette. Highly recommend this spot.
Stopped in here for brunch on a Sunday morning. It was busy, but I was lucky to snag a table right before they started waiting list. Everyone who helped us was incredibly friendly. The food came out quickly but not in the way you'd think it was precooked, it was definitely freshly made. I thought the food (and drink!) were SO yummy. They had some classics on their menu but also some unique finds, which I appreciate in the populated Portland Brunch scene. I also liked that they had a few side options with their brunch menu, which you don't find often. The space is intimate, well decorated, and set up well. They do have a few tables on their covered patio under heaters. My only complaint for the day was that the acoustics were pretty intense inside so it was loud making it difficult to hear the person across the table from me. Not enough to take a star off, but a word of warning for those that would bother I'm already excited to go back and try something else!
Seated quickly, at the bar, ordered egg nog martini, Bloody Mary and the sweet bacon. The martini WAS SO GOOD!!! The Bloody Mary was so citrusy, it was not very good And the bacon.....was not sweet, and was so tough it was quite literally like jerky. Unfortunate first time visit, I don't think I'll be back

The food here is always stellar and I always order the signature sweet bacon! Service is always consistent and good, super attentive staff. Parking is difficult but once you make it inside the place is so cozy.
Went on a weekday morning while on vacation and was not busy at all! Didn't have to wait long for a table, or our meal. Inside the restaurant is very cute visually! I will say, there were parts of the place that looked like they needed a little love. The cushion bench we were sitting on had a big piece of tape over part of it (assuming from a tear) which didn't bother me, but was a bit of an eye sore. You could also see partially into the kitchen a little and the parts we could see were not very well kept. Not anywhere they were actually service food, but looked more of an area where they may put dirty rags or crates. Again didn't bother me or take away from my experience, just a bit of an eye sore. Our service was wonderful, and the food was even better. Their hollandaise on the eggs Benedict was to die for, and the eggs were cooked perfectly. I also ordered my eggs with a side of potatoes, and they were seasoned well, crispy, but not dry on the inside at all. Loved the bacon as well! Crispy with a nice smoke. Coffee was great too!!
I was visiting Portland, when I noticed the Kastu Chicken Curry on the menu and it was a short walk from my Hostel. Asian Fusion Breakfast spot - heck yes! The Curry was yummy, the lemon pancakes were yummy, the chai latte was yummy. I came here on Sunday and had to come back the next day before I left Portland. Back to back visits. I love the exterior is of an old Victorian House, modern inside, and nice music. I would come here regularly, if I was local. One of my favorite places I ate at in Portland.
Ordered the Thai tea espresso and loved it. I would go back here just for that tbh. Also ordered the spicy chicken Benedict & berry French toast. Both were delicious. The cornflakes on the French toast were an interesting twist
Here's the good: I liked my food (tender pancakes with a lemon sauce made into a "meal" with a couple eggs and chicken apple sausage). Our server was friendly and when I asked if we could move to a different table because cold air was blowing on me making me cold, she offered to turn down the a/c. It wasn't a hot day but yesterday was so I guess the a/c was still adjusted to that. It's also cute inside and they have a porch you can eat on but we ate inside. Now for the not so good: We ordered regular drip coffee. I was hoping for some right away but our food arrived at the table before our coffee. Then we had to wait longer while she went back for cream (we told her we wanted cream when we ordered coffee). The coffee was bitter and acidic. I know some like it like that but I like smooth, rich coffee without bitterness or sourness. Portland has no shortage of quality roasters so in a place like this I would expect better. My husband ordered the farmhouse scramble. It had veggies like mushrooms, spinach, onion, etc along with tofu. I think they are trying to appeal to the healthy trend but to me "healthy" means they should try all the harder to season it properly so it tastes delicious. When asked for salsa (he was desperate!) he was informed they don't have salsa. Only Tapatio on the table. He was offered chili oil so he dumped that on but he still didn't like his food. Not sure why I have to say this but here's a tip for the chef: tofu is a sponge for flavor. It should be well seasoned with flavor (spices, herbs, garlic ) and it would make all the difference. Your tofu was barely sautéed and had zero flavor which detracted from the dish. I hope somebody shares this with you. read more
Definitely added to one of my new favorite breakfast/brunch spots. It's a nice cozy space, we found parking easily along the street. You have to pay for, but I spent about an hour there. Seating was cozy and the space was very nice. Wasn't too loud. Really busy when I was there, but Service was relatively quick. All things that got there highlight was the chick pops. Seriously the way they do the waffles in the chicken is amazing. The chicken is like Japanese kaarage style and they made the little waffle bits to perfection. One thing I would not order again is the Vietnamese coffee. It was very sweet and not enough coffee in my opinion. Overall, everything delicious satisfying and would definitely come here again. That bacon was the best bacon I've ever had. I just wish it was warm at least, but I am not complaining. The place was expensive but the food has good quality so I don't mind that part the crispy chicken batter was a new and different taste that I haven't had the waffles were normal nothing crazy however the sausage Benedict was delicious. The sausage was cooked perfectly. The eggs were perfect there was this like cheddar sauce that tasted really good and I had a side of the potatoes oh my gosh, they were seasoned and cooked perfectly 9.5 out of 10. 2.5 rounding up to 3 because the food was good but my experience was not and that could be just a bad day for them. Came here fpr brunch today. Food was good but the service wasn't the best. It was about Noonish and to their credit they were busy. We ended up sitting outside, our choice, becaue they have heat lamps but they did little to keep me warm, so I was cold the whole time. I ordered the signature sweet bacon, healthy piggy brussel sprouts and a side of 2 poached eggs. Hubs got flying piggy and my daughter ordered toast and the fruit and yogurt parfait. What made the experience bad, was that they brought the food out randomly instead of all at once. I would have really preferred my food to all come together, but mine came out piece meal, and I didn't wait for the rest of the family. I was almost done when my husband's food came out and then both of us were done by the time our poor daughter got her parfait. Which made no sense since that should've been the easiest as it didn't need to be cooked. I hadn't ate all day and was hungry and the first thing to come out was my sweet bacon. Now I don't know if it is supposed to be cold, but my guess is maybe that is on purpose. I can understand room temp bacon but it was cold and tasted a bit burnt and because it was cold it had that cold hardened bacon fat taste. Then my brusself sprouts came, these were really good but I was trying so hard to not eat it so I could wait for my poached eggs to go on top. They did finally come and luckily I was only half way done. My poor daughter didn't get her food until we asked about it and we were done, so we took it with us. We probably should've just sent it back at that point but whatever. It's a cute spot and I imagine in the summer the patio is lovely, but the inside is small and seating was limited. I'd like to believe that service wasso poor due to being so busy or perhaps understaffed? It was ok and I probably wouldn't come here twice, but if you do come, the Brussel Sprouts were delicious. As far as the Sweet Bacon, It's their signature dish and I love bacon, but it wasn't for me. But others have givin it great reviews so try for yoirself. With non alcoholic drinks the 3 of us cost about $100. read more
I've walked by this place for over a year and finally stopped in to try it for brunch, as much as I wanted to love it I didn't. What I ordered: -Smoked Salmon Avocado toast- 1/5 -side of pancakes- 4/5 The smoked salmon avocado toast has potential however the avocado spread was entirely too mushy and they drizzled wayyyyyy too much oil on top, I tried my best to eat it but the texture made it difficult. I left about 80% of the food on the plate The pancakes were really good, they were warm and fluffy and you can tell they were definitely made fresh. I added the lemon crème sauce on the side and that sauce is amazing! Loved. I'm not sure if I just received the last of the avocado and spread before they threw it out but I am so beyond disappointed at my meal. I may come back and try something else at a different time especially now that they have included a dinner service. read more
Came here on a lovely Sunday afternoon for brunch and the place was packed! So either make reservations or test your luck with the wait list. Of course we had to try the viral hot specialty bacon which was not hot nor special. It was more like a lightly honey glazed and super salty thick cut bacon. Maybe my tastebuds aren't sophisticated enough to understand bacon flavours. Saw the $9 Vietnamese Coffee and for that price, I was expecting the authentic taste of Vietnam. Again, was totally let down because this was more like a very faint latte and for that price, just skip it. Everything else looked good but food really didn't have any flavour to it. The brunch here was life changing. The menu made it nearly impossible to choose what to get but I ended up going with the crispy chicken and waffles and had no regrets. The chicken was tender and crispy and the waffle fluffy and delicious. The syrup was sweet with chili oil and brought the dish together so well. Presentation was over the top as well. I feel like I have to write a separate review about the mango matcha latte. The mango tasted so fresh and the matcha was high quality. I could drink five. The service was kind and fast! Went on a Saturday morning, seemed busy but it didn't take long for us to get seated! The place does seem a little tight but it's all good!Staff was nice and welcoming. I ordered lemon pancakes and the chicken waffles with some coffee. I love how they would refill my coffee for free, very nice of them. Everything tasted delicious! read more

Their bacon is nothing like I've ever tried and it's worth getting at least once! They have a large menu with so many good options it was hard to choose. I would definitely try something else next time I come because my crab benedict didn't blow me away. The tables are tiny for two so just be aware! read more

Came here on July 4th with a group of 6. Seating on a holiday was not too bad, waited maybe 15-20 minutes. Food and drink service took a very long time, unsure if it was understaffed issue during the holiday, but we waited quite a long time before even drinks came out. Food was decent / mediocre at best. My fried chicken was unseasoned. The Thai-tini was also mediocre at best. Perhaps would come back at another time to give it another try on a non-holiday. read more
I love this place so much!! It's in a cute house in NW Portland and has delicious food! There's one side that has a cute bar and some tables and the other side with more tables. Great breakfast spot and DELICIOUS drinks! Especially the Vietnamese coffee and Wango Spritz! I love how they fry their chicken with a light and airy batter. The house bacon is good but I felt like ours may have been a bit over torched so it tasted a bit burnt and salty. The SBC omelet was so good! I thought having the bacon jam on it may be too much but it's SO good and not as salty as I thought it would be so it complemented the omelet well. You must try this place out at least once! read more
If there was an option to add more than 5 stars I would. Not only is it cozy but this place will for sure put you in a food coma after devouring the different dishes because to be honest we couldn't decide what we wanted so we got a little of everything. We have family that travels from out of town often and this is a place that we have definitely now added to that list of places to take them. Will be back and their service is quick, helpful and nice! read more

Cozy cute little brunch spot serving asian-inspired dishes. I went with a group and we got a variety of things and all were yummy. The staff were friendly. The only negative thing I can say is that their toast that came with the scramble was really dry to the point where it was crispy. read more

My wife and I are always on the Portland breakfast and coffee tour and we passed Sweet Bacon one day several weeks earlier. We made a point to try it (based on foot traffic & reviews), and we weren't disappointed. I had the Lemon Creme pancakes and my wife had the Farmer's Scramble. I loved the pancakes as they were cooked to golden brown perfection, with a little crunch on the stray batter. The lemon creme was sweet with a little tart. The only criticism from my wife was the lack of flavor of the tofu, as it's bland by default. It just needed a marinade of some sort. Overall, a very good experience and it'll be on our list of return-to places. read more

One of my favorite spots tucked away, towards the end of 21st! I've had their Morning Poutine several times and it's always delicious, filling, and for an affordable price. But this time I decided to try their Chicken n waffles + Bloody Mary! Food was amazing! The crisp texture of the chicken really scratched a spot in my brain that has a deep need for satisfying textures. Waffle and syrup were great too but the chicken was definitely the main star. I've never had a Bloody Mary before because I'm more of a sweet mixed drink girly, but decided to give it a try today. Honestly while it wasn't my thing, it still tasted amazing. I kept drinking as much as I could in hopes that the urge to chug would kick in. But it just didn't hit the same as a sweet mimosa does and maybe for that I'm a little basic. Anyways, 10/10 on the Bloody Mary because I could see a savory girl go nuts over this. Oh, and the bacon was candied I believe?? Super yummy! Service is always great! I usually end up going here alone when I'm having a self date day, and I feel as if the staff are always friendly and attentive. They regularly check in every 10-15 min or so, but seem to keep it short and sweet if they can gauge whether you prefer that or not. As someone who switches between introvert and extrovert I could come here in any mood and pretty much expect the staff to match my vibes. Love that. Oh and the outdoor seating is great. Perfect for people watching. There's a bus stop across the street and each time I've been here I have witnessed some of the most wholesome human interactions. Love this place. Only regret is that I didn't learn about it sooner :) read more

On a random..we stopped here for a quick brunch..and what a find.. I was im the mood for some bacon..and this was the spot!! and their speciality Sweet Bacon hit the spot!! I have come here three times now and it is perfect every time. I come in at 9 am before it gets busy. Attentive service, tasty food, and cozy atmosphere! This is the only good breakfast in Slabtown/Nob Hill area right now. It's not your typical American breakfast and that's why I love it. read more
Great breakfast experience. A few tables (2 tops) outside, good amount inside. Service was quite fast, very friendly. The place is cute and everything was tidy and clean. My cousin chose this place for a late brunch. Most other brunch places in the city were closed or about to be closed. We arrived just almost an hour and a half before they closed. Street parking for pay is only available for the area as far as I know. We managed to park close by and walk. The cafe looks and feels like home walking in. Beautiful 2 story craftsman with a bar area on the left of the cafe and on the right, a dining area. The decor was contemporary and modern. They have a neon sign of their name inside. There were only about 4 people inside eating. Not too busy for the being close to the end of the week and closing. We were seated in the middle and given our menus, waters, and utensils. Our waitress was nice and cordial. She made sure to repeat to us our orders and clear up any confusion there might be. I ordered the dirty matcha (matcha + coffee) for my drink. Everything on the menu looked so good, I had a little trouble deciding. I needed up with my first choice: the morning poutine. This is under the bites section. I was a little concerned if this was going to be a small plate. I asked our waitress how big the plate was and she assured me it was big. While waiting for the order, I went to the restroom. It is in the middle of the cafe, next to the staircase. Decent sized. When I came back, my drink was waiting. It tastes exactly how it is described. After maybe 10 minutes, our food was ready. The server was right, it was a good and big size. It came on a skillet, with a wood plate under it. She warned me that it would be hot. I took a bite. Very unique plate, delicious. The wedges, egg, and bacon complement each other in a way I had not expected. My family agreed that my plate was the best. My cousin ended up getting the classic Benedict and the berries lovers toast. My aunt got the farmers scramble. I particularly enjoyed my cousin dish. Very good! Everything was very good!
