I dont like flavors to taste artificial, and her pistachio are BY FAR, THE BEST. When I go here, I always buy a dozen. This place is not welcoming to Black people. I have purchased here several times and never have I received a welcoming greeting. With the political and social climate that we are currently experiencing, I am on higher alert to establishments that make me feel uncomfortable. I went to the Cerritos mall the day before my birthday to get my favorite cookies, when I stepped to the counter the owner was actually working the counter. She looked at me directly in the face, turned her back, and went to take care of other things inside her booth while I stood there for a total of 4 1/2 minutes waiting for her to acknowledge me. Or ask me to give her a moment so that she could take care of what was suddenly so urgent when I arrived. When she finally decided to give me her attention she walked over to the glass where I was standing, and said yes, and that's it. I lost it. Needless to say, I walked away from that counter with her knowing exactly how I felt about her service and her business. I didn't want to jump to conclusions so my mother and I got some food and sat down directly across from her establishment to watch and see if this experience was had by other people, specifically those of color. I watched this lady countless times hurry to service people that aren't the same colors as me. There was one customer that came to her booth that looked like me. It was a man with his children. They received almost the same service that I did. She sat in her booth and waited at least 2 to 3 minutes before she finally got up, walked to the counter, and just looked him in the face. No communication, no smile, nothing. This man still purchased with this woman and left the counter. I wish that he had been more aware of what was happening to him and his children. Needless to say, I hope that she changes her attitude towards people of color, specifically African-American customers. I agree with the other reviewers in terms of freshness concerns due to the macarons being packaged already. But i actually really loved the one I tried! Let me tell you, macarons are one of my favorite treats. When my sister and I have a sister date (which is not as often as I wish) we always get Starbucks and one of us picks up a dozen macarons for us to share. It's one of our little self care treats. We have tried several different shops and only have ONE we will continue repurchasing at. I saw this at the mall by the food court and noticed how much bigger they are than the average size. Of course they are a dollar more expensive but it has to be due to the size. I was surprised at how delicious it was! The filling does not taste artificial at all. If only they had more flavors. TOTALLY WORTH IT. I came across this place by accident -- I haven't been near the Cerritos food court in a loooong time. I saw the booth that said Sweet Box and was immediately intrigued. I stopped by, checked out the selection and found myself craving some macarons. I thought they were fairly priced for the size of the plain macarons and the service was good! I was super indecisive, but the person who helped me was very nice and patient with me as I finalized my decision. I ended up ordering cookies & cream and the Nutella. Just got home and gave the Nutella a try, and it was great! The filling was alright, but the macaron itself had a great texture and taste. No regrets on this purchase at all! Not only adorable, but tasty too!!! I accidentally came across Sweet Box only because I wanted to walk off my lunch and the mall was an air conditioned place to do it. So I was wandering with no destination in mind and I come across the Sweet Box kiosk. So freaking cute!!! This place is NOT cheap and being that the macarons were so cute, I figured they only looked good but didn't hold much weight in the flavor department. I was wrong. I enjoy macarons on rare occasions because they are usually too sweet but I thought that Sweet Box did a great job in the balance of sweetness, chewiness, and presentation. I would definitely recommend this place to others. After bringing them home and trying them, I was thinking of who's bday was coming up so I could buy them some. Out of the dozen I bought, the Earl Grey was my favorite. The Strawberry was good as well as it had a real fruit flavor to it. Piece of advise. Don't let them sit in your car or in a warm area as the filling will melt. I learned the hard way. I still ate all of them though. The service was good but I did feel a little rushed. They have the cutest macarons ever! There's usually a wide variety of animals if you come early. They are a bit on the pricey side for macarons but definitely worth it if you have the money! I religiously get my salted caramel duckies here. Ahh as an fyi though, they are a small business and due to them being under staffed they may sometimes take awhile to serve you - I once waited over 5 minutes to be served because the staff were hard at work decorating the next batch of cookies. I had come here for some macarons, especially after a long day. The presentation of the macarons are quite lovely and they tasted well. However, i had opened up one of the macarons to discover there was mold on the cookie. I was extremely disappointed considering this was my first time at this place. I could've had an adverse reaction to the mold, not to mention this is not checked for quality at all, so who knows how long the macaron could've been sitting for if mold was able to grow inside. Super cute, and taste good, not exceedingly sweet! They rotate the flavors and designs, and you can catch the worker decorating them sometimes. I love the cute character designs they have, but they also sell plain ones. They came individually wrapped, super convenient for gifts if you don't eat them all at once.
