He presented us with the menu and drink menu followed by the nights specials. His attention to detail was something I've never experienced, every restaurant you go to they just pour you a glass of ice water. Not here, if you prefer ice they will ask. I started with a Cherry Habanero Margarita, there is such a flavor profile of just this drink alone. You get the sweet from the Cherry, followed by just a slight bit of spice and refreshing basil notes on your nose and the finishing notes of the drink. Wade has worked with the Executive Chef on this drink menu to pair it with the out of this world flavor profiles of the entree menu. Our appetizer was the Three X Brussels and the Artichoke Zobo. My date was a fan of the lemon glazed Brussels and I couldn't stay away from the roasted garlic Brussels. The roasted garlic Brussels were paired with some sweety drop peppers from Peru that were a unique touch but delicious for the size. Our date night special was the Grouper Filet topped with lump crab meat and a corn succotash. On the side we were presented with a polenta cake that was prepared perfectly. It had an amazing creamy texture with just a touch of spice. I've never had polenta before but if this is what it tastes like then I'm all about it! I try and eat every restaurant in Durango at least once. The Yellow Carrot has an atmosphere and menu that you would expect to find in the city and service I think you'll find rare on this planet. I will most definitely be back to indulge in the atmosphere and drinks of The Yellow Carrot but mostly for the absolutely phenomenal entree menu. The staff absolutely has this place locked in.

Quite often the police are involved.

what is there to say about this place?…read more i personally have never eaten anything here EXCEPT their bakery goods which were superb, best in town, hands down. Every morning they seem to have a wide selection of freshly baked pastries, good coffee, big smiles and a beautiful building. I have seen their breakfasts being delivered to tables and can say they look delicious but a big breakfast sends me straight back to bed... When i am in town.. i stop here every single time, always, without fail.

May 2026 My wife and…read moreI were visiting Durango for a few days. She took the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad to Silverton, but unfortunately I wasn't able to go because of a medical condition that prevents me from traveling to high altitudes, and the train climbs to around 10,000 feet. After she left on her adventure, I decided to find some breakfast. While I was walking around town, my aunt called. She and my uncle used to vacation in Ouray every year, so she knows the area well. She recommended Jean-Pierre Bakery, so that's where I headed. I was seated right away and ordered a coffee while I looked over the menu. My waitress was very friendly, and we chatted for a while. She even recommended a few places around town that I should check out. I finally decided on the Croque Monsieur (brioche, béchamel, ham, and Swiss cheese) served with a salad. When my meal arrived, it looked fantastic. The sandwich was delicious, rich, and full of flavor. It was my first time trying a Croque Monsieur, and I really enjoyed it. The salad was fresh and crisp, and the vinaigrette paired perfectly with it. After finishing my meal, I couldn't resist ordering a pistachio cream-filled éclair that had caught my eye when I first walked in. It looked beautiful, but unfortunately, it was a disappointment. The pastry was very dry, and the bottom was quite hard. It definitely didn't taste freshly made. The pistachio cream had a nice flavor, but there wasn't very much of it. I mentioned my concerns to my server, and she kindly brought me a chocolate éclair to try instead. It also looked wonderful, but it had the same problem. The pastry tasted old, almost like it had been sitting for a couple of days. I would absolutely return for another Croque Monsieur or to try something else from the breakfast or lunch menu because that part of the meal was excellent. As for the pastries, they certainly look beautiful, but based on my experience, I would probably pass on them next time. This would have been a solid 4 star if those eclair had of been good.
