First time here and I am in love. Not being from Boulder, I yelped for a local ice cream shop. Sweet Cow had me at "oatmeal cookie". Not for myself but because I knew my husband would love that flavor and the uniqueness of the flavors told me this place had to be good. I was right. The shop was clean, fun, and welcoming. The staff was super friendly and made excellent recommendations. Honey mint and OXO Cappuccino. I was scared to try the honey mint because I have had some weird flavor experiences with honey lately (namely in a beer) but this ice cream was BEAUTIFUL. Delicate honey flavor worked perfectly with the flavors of fresh mint. I also tried the Ozo Cappuccino. Excellent. Not an overpowering flavor of coffee, instead it was rather balanced and the ice cream had a fantastic crunch, either chocolate or espresso beans perhaps. I only had a sample size so I couldn't tell. Yes, you heard me right, I only had a sample size of these because I was in the mood for "comfort" flavors of ice cream. The two flavors above were so good that they belong on the menu of a nice restaurant. But I needed my ice cream nostalgia. I ordered the Banana Foster (because this is one of my fav desserts) and the Oreo (classic fav feel-good ice cream flavor). Both were amazing. I even felt a little buzz after the Banana with all the fresh rum. #nomnom. The Oreo was also quite good, even though I usually don't like chocolate ice cream. I would have both again, BUT I have been daydreaming about the Ozo Cappuccino and the Honey Mint for days now. I need to go back and satisfy my new craving. read more

Their ice cream is definitely sweet. My boyfriend and I came here while staking out for a surprise birthday. Anywhoo, I ordered the Honey vanilla on a pretzel cone and boyfriend got the cookies and cream on a waffle cone. Okay, I love honey vanilla ice cream, there's something about the taste of honey and cream which creates the perfect merriment. And I believe this place got it on point. However, what I didn't like was the pretzel cone. I think the cone is not the best choice. My boyfriend liked his waffle cone, so I think it's just the pretzel cone, something about it. Every time we have been into Sweet Cow, we have always had friendly service and plenty of no-pressure taste samples. I also appreciate that they have their staple flavors, but regularly introduce new and exciting flavors (that are often related to the seasons, which makes it even more fun). We went in here on Sunday night and tried their ice-cream sandwiches for the first time and WOW! It was seriously the Best Ice-Cream Sandwich of my life. After a disappointing Thai food experience, Sweet Cow came to save the day. The workers were very cheerful and friendly, and let us try as many flavors as we desired. The portions are fairly large as well - I got a single scoop split into 2 flavors and it was more than enough. The consistency of the ice cream was a tiny bit too heavy/creamy for me, but hey, it's better than being icy or watery. As for the flavors, I loved cookie butter and carrot cake (a flavor I don't see often in ice cream joints). The carrot cake came with real shredded carrots and I was impressed by how well they translated the flavors into ice cream form. My friends got E.T. I'll admit I was coming in with a snotty CA attitude, thinking that this place was probably going to just be mediocre. The decor/logo made me think this might be geared towards kids/families but the flavors I tried was better than a lot of "artisan" fancy ice cream shops that charge like $5+ for a single scoop. This place was ~$4.50 for a double scoop. I've gotten honey mint, espresso bean, and coffee and all of these flavors were AMAZING. I definitely recommend coming here. Service was super nice and friendly and they all seem to actually enjoy working here. There was never a wait and there was always a seat available, including some nice window counter seating.If I lived here, this would be the place I take guests to. read more

I brought my grandkids here over the summer after picking them up from summer camp. Emmie served us and she was an absolute gem. She gave us all the best flavor recommendations, including gatorade. The kids loved the gatorade and it even replenished their electrolytes after being outside all day. She suggested butter pecan for me and let me tell you, YUM! I could swim in that ice cream. By far the best experience we've had in an ice cream shop (which we go very often). We decided to visit Sweet Cow (thanks to Pinterest ) during our vacation in Colorado. We're from Miami so the customer service we usually receive is rushed and completely different. But the moment we walked in at Sweet Cow was completely different, the people especially a worker named Joe made us feel so welcomed and we left there in complete shock (due to everyone, even the customers being so nice). Because of this experience we started talking about moving to Boulder in the future, the location and especially the people won us over, and of course the cookies and cream ice cream. I flew from Michigan to visit my son, daughter-in-law and grandson, but truth be told I also came to replenish my taste buds with Sweet Cow's Dutch Chocolate ice cream. I had it for the first time last February and the experience demanded a repeat performance. You know how Haagen Daz ice cream is really rich but it's very solid? And you know how Dairy Queen is very soft and full of air and not as rich? Well Sweet Cow takes the best of both approaches and make a fantastic treat. I tried the butter pecan and was fascinated by the amount of drag it produces on the tongue but not too much drag. It had a lot of little pecan particles mixed in with the bigger pieces that added a tweedy kind of dimension to the experience. Unbelievable ice cream. I thought I'd found the best ice cream ever at Salt & Straw (my local Portland haunt) but Sweet Cow is right up there at the top. Why? Well, what I love about ice cream is when the flavors are creative, stuffed with pieces and chunks of something delicious, and most of all each bite tastes like itself (not like vanilla or chocolate with something in it). The menu has just the right composition: sixteen to twenty flavors that range from basic to inventive. I ordered the Coconut Cream Pie and Oatmeal Cookie, and both were amazing. The first was full of thick slightly toasted coconut shavings, and tasted just like a homemade coconut cream pie should: slightly tropical, not too sweet. The Oatmeal Cookie was full of the sweet spice such a cookie should have, and was studded with generously sized cookie pieces. Whatever the flavor is, it IS. Unlike a lot of people, ice cream isn't my favorite dessert (that would be pie of some non-fruit kind!), so I'm fairly picky about whether or not I'll want it. But when it's exquisitely made, there's nothing I'd rather have. Only a few places are in that elite echelon, and Sweet Cow's one of them! Day-of my boyfriend's 30th, I took my man to his favorite breakfast place, Walnut Southside. On the way there, I'd ordered a Coldstone Cake to be picked up later in the afternoon. As we pulled up, I got a glimpse of Sweet Cow. This is a new addition to this area for us, and I was pumped to see it. While we were waiting for a seat at Southside, we went in. The guy working the counter was extremely nice, and well versed in what he had to sell. I sent my dude away, cancelled the Coldstone order, and the ice cream man helped me pick out the perfect cake, wrote what I wanted on it, and blast froze it for the ride home while we enjoyed breakfast nextdoor. When we came to pick it up, ice cream bro had made too much of a shake and gave us each what seemed like a massive cup of chocolate shake for the road. I had never been here until recently when my sister introduced me ...I think this is probably the best ice cream I've ever had...now I have yet to try the popular ice cream places in Denver so we shall see how this place holds up. Every time I write a bad review for a local business, I have this guilty need to balance it out with a good review. First, I don't eat a lot of ice cream so when I do, it can't just be some run of the mill ice cream. Another huge reason is bc my son has nut allergies and most ice cream parlours are off limits. With one exception, Sweet Cow as they have a secret nut free menu. Of course there's disclaimers all over the place and they have tons of peanuts and all kinds of nuts in the kitchen, but they clean the equipment and make the plain flavors first. They also set the nut free tubs in a different freezer case and use separate scoopers. Do you know what it feel like to go to an ice cream shop for the first time with your 6 year old? We both shed some tears and he ate a vanilla cone and I had a margarita flavored sorbet with tequila, just the way mama likes it! read more
