Years ago I stumbled upon this place. It was a random grab and go experience. Then I forgot the name and only knew it to be om Baltimore. Quite literally took years to stumble upon it again. So glad I did. It's nothing fancy, but rhe jwrk is authentic and you can find other Jamaican offerings like coconut drops pr coconut water or bun and cheese. Came for lunch which they have specials between $10-$12 ish for a smaller selection. It feels like it's authentic and it's worth a try. I really love this place. I've been coming here for almost a year now, and I can honestly say I've never been disappointed. I usually stop by during lunch hours between 11 AM and 3 PM, when they have their $10 lunch special. It used to be $8, but it went up with the new year, which is understandable with everything going on. For the lunch special, I usually get the curry chicken with rice and peas, or the honey jerk chicken wrap that comes with chips and a drink, which I love. Their pineapple ginger juice is one of my favorites and it's usually made fresh daily. There have been a couple times it was sold out, but that's rare. The service is always great and very personable. I've never had any issues. The vibe is chill and laid back. It does look like a typical Jamaican carryout, and in some areas it could use a little updating since it kind of feels like a living room, but if you're just grabbing food or eating quickly, it really doesn't matter. I've never had any real issues with the food. One time there were a couple small bones in my honey jerk chicken wrap, but that's expected since they were chopping the jerk chicken fresh right in front of me. Everything I've tried has been amazing. The oxtails are fire. I like the brown stew chicken, but the curry chicken is my favorite. I haven't tried the fried chicken yet, but the curry goat patty and curry chicken patty are both really good. Honestly, everything I've had has been on point. This is definitely my favorite Jamaican spot now, even over Judy's Island Grill down the street where I used to go all the time. This place just does it better. If you're in the area and looking for a good spot, I highly recommend coming here. If you want to start small, try the lunch special first. By far my favorite Jamaican restaurant in Baltimore! The food is authentic, you can actually taste the pimento seeds and thyme in the rice and peas. The brown stew is also delicious and they have a lunch special that goes until 3pm that comes with your choice of protein and rice along with a drink. The half and half is always good and sweet and the portions even for the lunch special are enough for me to split two meals. I thought that this was just a carryout so I was surprised to see that the restaurant was filled with nice seating and decor. The menu had so much to choose from but I picked a few things for my to-go order. I ordered a large Curry Goat, a large Brown Stew Chicken, and a small Curry Chicken. The food was full of flavor and the portion sizes for the chicken dishes were good. The only complaint was the Goat. The restaurant seemed really clean and the staff were delightful. The cool feature of this place is that most of the options are prepared in bulk and they just serve you right then and there. No sitting around waiting for 45 minutes for that oxtail. The food itself was a 4/5 in my book. The portions are generous and the seasonings are there but I prefer a little more spice in my Jamaican food. The value for what you're spending is 5/5. Their jerk chicken has a hint of BBQ in there some where. It almost taste like Jerk BBQ Chicken. Just an FYI! The portion size was pretty good for a small, price tag $11. I stopped in around 8:45 at night, they were closing at 9:30 so they were out of plantains. I could also tell that I received some of the last, very little vegetables, lots of rice, not as much chicken in the portion as I've seen in the picture and the chicken got really hard when heated up. No worries! I can honestly tell if I would have came earlier I would have absolutely loved it. Hence the reason for the 4 stars instead of 5. I'm going back to try the Curry and Brown Stewed Chicken.
