I came here for the hype (and also to get some coffee because I was up at 4am that day and had a Warriors game to look forward to later that night). While on my way to work at 9am, I thought "Hey, maybe I should try Ayesha's coffee shop!" And then I was there -- the shop is nestled at the street level of some fairly new apartment buildings in the edge of Uptown Oakland, and to my surprise, there was actually a good amount of parking space present! When I walked into the shop, I noticed that seating areas were blocked off (so that meant I had to go straight to work to do work). The lights were a nice and bright, the layout was welcoming and inspiring, and the side by side look of the sale space and the cafe area balanced each other well. Staff were super friendly and helpful as I made my order and even gave some suggestions to me based off of what I shared in terms of things I like. Drinks here include drip coffee with your choice of syrup -- I ended up getting the Sweet Thang and ordering a Peppermint Bark bread pudding to accompany it. The coffee was IMMACULATE. Let me tell you, it was absolutely perfect for the job of keeping me up and energized that day. It definitely isn't Vietnamese coffee (which I drink whenever I need to really be away and active), but it's a good level down! The coffee was strong, and it lasted me until the afternoon when I came home to my boyfriend (I usually down my coffee in less than 15 minutes). Even after all those hours, you would think that the drink waters down, but my boyfriend tried it and was shocked at how strong it was too (this was around 3pm -- about 6 hours later). The bread pudding was so delicious! I had it warmed up and I got to enjoy a huge amount of it to snack on while I was at work doing phone calls with patients and preparing presentations and crunching data. The portion was definitely way too much for me, but I was able to bring it home for my boyfriend's sister and mom to try. My first experience at Sweet July was definitely appreciated, especially since the coffee kept me up to see Ayesha's husband play against and beat the Dallas Mavericks that same night. I'm looking forward to having the coffee here again, and hopefully getting the chance to do some work here in the future! read more

Lovely space with warm staff and cold coffee. My wife and I came in on a weekday afternoon and were the only ones in the store. We were immediately greeted by the friendly smiles of the four women working on that day. Sweet July boasts an assortment of thoughtfully curated home decor items, many of which are from Black women-owned businesses. On display, you'll find items like: * deliciously-scented soy candles from Rose & Co., designed and hand-poured by a 13-year old black girl entrepreneur * a variety of dazzling shades of non-toxic nail polish by People of Color Beauty * the published book of Amanda Gorman's inaugural poem I love that Ayesha Curry has, in this way, honored the proverbial wisdom to "lift as you climb." Sweet July also carries a small assortment of spices from Oaktown Spice Shop, in case you don't want to make the trip to the Lakeshore location. We purchased two candles, which were gift-wrapped to perfection by the Sweet July staff. Look, I'll be honest - there are many amazing coffee shops in the area. I didn't come to Sweet July looking for the best cup of coffee. What drew me in was the decor. That being said, I was impressed with the iced coffee! I ordered mine with Island Love (a coconut + ginger simple syrup) and oat milk, and it was so good, it hardly lasted the 5-minute walk home. Sweet July is an excellent coffee shop located inside a boutique that sells local business which is awesome! My wife and I came earlier this morning and sipped on iced coffees in which we got to choose our own syrups; I chose 'Sweet Thang' which is Dulce de leche. My wife had 'Soul Warmer' which had cinnamon, anise, and clove. Their coffee is delicious! You either get to choose drip coffee or iced coffee with different milk selections and syrups. I love the decor and layout of this place. it's bright, soothing, smells great, and has interesting items from books, bed sheets, clothes, to even candles and makeup. I'm so glad Ayesha opened up a local coffee shop here in Oakland. It's a gem and means a lot to the neighborhood. Whenever we hit up downtown again, we will make sure to stop in again for some coffee. read more

Sweet July is a store with a little cafe area.. or is it the other way around? I was looking for coffee in the area and came across this Ayesha Curry store. I had no idea it existed. They don't serve espresso drinks. It's just coffee that you can add signature syrups to for an extra fee. They offer tea and bites to eat. I think there was one vegan option for food and it was a bread pudding. I love bread pudding. I don't care what time it is. I got it and I wasn't disappointed at all. There is a restroom inside.. it's coded. All in all.. Clean restroom, nice cafe stop and ability to browse Curry approved items. Not an attraction but a good stop in the area. read more

This place is so cute! Some things to note: - the cafe/coffee shop menu is very limited - No outlets but there is wifi (I didn't use it though, it wasn't very stable but not sure if it's because three other friends were actively using it first.) I used my mobile hotspot but my Verizon network wasn't strong there! Selfishly I don't want this place to get more popular because it feels like such a gem! It's in a great location near some other restaurants in Uptown as well. The space is not too small but there is limited seating: there's one large table where a few groups of people could sit and co-work, a very cute couch and a few chairs. I love the concept of the space - I came here with a few friends to study. We'd study for a bit and whenever we needed a short break we'd check out the items they were selling. I ended up buying a few items... I love that the place isn't too loud but isn't dead quiet either. There is a bathroom at this place too which is kept quite clean. Always a great spot to chill and catch up with friends. Whenever I have visitors I always take them to Sweet July knowing it's Ayesha Curry's shop and there are merch from local sellers to browse. I love the concept of the shop, it's a bakery, study space and apothecary shop. I remember on one of her ig posts, she mentioned about summer being the season of celebrations for her family, she named the shop Sweet July to remember all of the good and happy memories/ celebrations. Just came here to get coffee with my gf the other day and yes the place is very cute and aesthetic however if you're just looking for coffee please do not come here. What a cute cafe! I enjoyed browsing the different businesses featured/sold in the store. It's definitely a fun place to stop by if you've got time to kill. The interior is adorable and the staff was friendly. We came on a busy afternoon and the baristas were constantly working on making orders (with smiles). They recommended the island love latte and it was a mellow cup of coffee. I was hoping the syrup itself would be more flavorful but it's definitely more about the coffee itself (this could also just be my sweet tooth talking). I believe there is only one blend of coffee beans used with a few selections of milk/syrup combinations. Yay! So glad I finally made it out to the Sweet July store after a few months of wanting to go. When I first walked into the store on a Saturday afternoon I was immediately greeted and welcomed by a store associate. She was definitely warm and welcoming. The store was quiet with maybe 3 other customers in there as well. They items are beautiful laid out by categories (i.e.- books, kitchen, beauty, jewelry, home decor, etc). The aesthetic of the store is beautiful and modern. I love the style and layout of the store. Honestly most all of items are pretty affordable which I was a bit surprised because this is a celebrity's store. They have a cute cafe with different pastries and a coffee and tea( iced or hot option) not a ton of options there besides the syrup/sugar/milk add ins. I kinda wish they had more variety there like a chai tea option. But who knows it hasn't been open for long so there might be bigger menu at some point. I have been so excited to go to Sweet July ever since I heard of the store opening in Oakland. I spontaneously decided to go after I was done running errands and I'm so glad I checked it out. I went on a weekday around 1:30 and I was able to find street parking right next to the store. I was greeted and asked to do a wrist temperature check. Masks are of course required to come in. I was already impressed with the kindness from the store associate and the safety precautions that have been put in place. I was in awe looking around as the store has such a warm, fun feel and was aesthetically pleasing. There are variety of items such as books (for adults/children), spices, jackets, bedding, plates, soap, nail polish, creams, ect. I wanted to buy everything in the store, but decided I would just get Ayesha's new cookbook and a tumeric soap which I'm excited to try. While deciding what I want, the store associate of kind to help me decide what to get and her own personal feedback on products. There also is a small cafe within that store that offers pastries and drinks. I did not try any, but I'll be back next time to try some and of course buy more products! read more

What a nice space to have a beverage and a sweet snack! My three friends and I found this place yesterday online when we were looking for a close by place for coffee and a sweet snack. We weren't sure what to expect from a place that sells coffee, pastries, and textiles. But we thought we'd give it a try. So glad we did! It's a nice store that sells a beautiful curated collection of throw blankets, art, jewelry, and books as well as a variety of coffee drinks and amazing baked goods. I don't usually like bread pudding but theirs just looked (and sounded - "lemon white chocolate") so fabulous I had to give it a try. OMG - the best bread pudding ever! I will be back! I did really find the space very inviting - there was a large curved sofa right as you walk in which made it feel like you're in a living room. I didn't try any coffee here so I cannot add input on the coffee. The croissant was also buttery and good. Stopped by this little shop before heading to the nearby IKEA and had such a great experience! The shop was beautifully decorated and featured so many items made by Black-owned businesses. The coffee was reasonably priced too compared to other local spots ($3.25 for a 12oz), and the quality of the drinks were great. You can choose a "cream" (milk or cream) for free and a syrup (from 5 different flavors) for an extra 50 cents. If I could give Sweet July a 6/5 stars I would. This was an incredible idea by Ayesha Curry! When you first walk in you are welcomed by the friendliest staff in the world. Seriously! They take the time to know your name and explain everything in the shop. She even took the time to explain everything on the menu. Besides the delicious coffee and great tasting treats, the shop itself is AMAZING. With books and home goods created by black women its really a breath taking experience . What a delightful experience! I came to grab a coffee and pastry for lunch, and I was immediate greeted by two lovely employees! The suggestion of the savory ham and thyme bread pudding was beyond anything I could have ever expected. I am drooling just thinking about it.
