It was almost like they put a double amount of sauce or seasoning compared to other padthai dishes I've had at different restaurants. We ordered a couple of things and my niece fell in love with their Spicy Tan Tan Noodles, said it was super delicious. We got some empanadas which were huge and very tasty, the pulled pork and bugolgi were genius. They are definitely something I would try again. This place was a hidden gem! I recently ordered take out from here and received excellent service and exceptional food. I placed a phone order and everything was hot and ready when I arrived. I have never been to this part of Duluth before, as I usually am over at the Pleasant Hill Road area, but it's a super nice and welcoming location. The restaurant itself has an inviting indoor and outdoor eating area, including rooftop seating from their second story. There's also a very pretty green space next to the restaurant with a clock tower that looks like it would be great for a picnic. Others seemed to think so, even while social distancing during this pandemic. Many were sprawled on the grass enjoying the weather. In terms of the food, I was highly impressed. It outshined my expectations. Being from Hawaii, I was a little hesitant that it wouldn't be satisfying for me. We have so many good authentic poké and ramen places back home. I needed it to be good! I ordered the build your own poke bowl (see my pic for the full details) and the Angry Zuko Ramen with kale noodles to make it lower carb. Wow! Such great fresh and bold flavors! I was really missing the cuisine from back home and this meal was so comforting. The poke was different than what I'm used to. The spicy tuna was ground up instead of in cubes, sushi style, but it still tasted great. The kale noodles were amazing and the perfect substitution to still enjoy a traditional ramen, but lower in carbs for a healthier alternative. The pork on the ramen was soooo good! Perfectly tender and juicy. What I really appreciate about this place, besides the great cooking, is that they packaged the ramen and broth separately. Most long-standing noodle shops know this is key to ensuring the noodles won't be soggy for take out, but it's never guaranteed. I took this meal for a long ride as we went to pick up food for my fiance and bring it back home. It tasted just as fresh as if it was just brought to me from the kitchen. We came here on a Saturday for lunch and it was pretty empty. The weather was great so we sat outside in one of their many outdoor tables in the shade. It was good people watching and has a nice downtown vibe. There is so much on the menu including poke, thai, and ramen. Upstairs, which I wasn't able to tell if it is a separate restaurant, are empanadas. We got the build your own poke and it was a decent size. Everything was fresh and the selection of toppings was superb. We also got the build your own ramen and again, it was a good sized bowl with a good selection of toppings. Both were perfect for the kids! I got a Best of the Best sushi burrito for my meal and it was good, but fell apart too easily and ended up being a bit of a mess to eat. THIS is a great vibe for a date with the atmosphere. They were the first business where I saw a huge thick plastic shield separating the register and guest. For alcohol, they have local craft beer options, wine, sakeritas, and sparkling sake wine. For food, lots of options but what I had was certainly worth getting! The spicy tuna nachos were jamming! So fresh, visually appealing and spicy. And cost for them was honestly cheap. Listed as a starter, you could make a meal of them if you aren't insanely starving. The KungFu-rritto was my meal and gave me a nice karate chop to my soul and tummy. It's obviously a sushi burrito. The ONLY thing missing was wasabi on the side. First off, I have to say this is the most architecturally pleasing restaurant in Downtown Duluth! It has amazing curb appeal and I cannot wait until the weather heats up to sit upstairs on the outside balcony! The restaurant has several double doors that serve as windows and entrances, and the interior is soft, fresh, simple, modern and clean. The dining is more casual and hip than I expected and is a great addition to the square! As for the food, I ordered Garlic pepper beef. The meal comes in an over-sized black bowl and is plated quite nicely. The cost is $12. It came out steaming hot and was very delicious. Seasoned well, and hearty. I must point out beer/wine are for sale in this restaurant. I also ordered a Guava/cheese empanada. This reminded me of a Cuban cafe in Miami that serves these, so when I had the opportunity to eat again, I rushed to the experience. The empanadas surprisingly are part of a seperate restaurant upstairs called "Empanada House". You order Asian cuisine downstairs and are welcome to order from another restaurant upstairs which is more Spanish style. The empanada was delicious!!! It came right out the oven. The cost was almost $3 and the cheese was melted and a nice complement to the guava inside. The empanada was quite small, so I understand why the clerk made the remark, "Just 1?" after I ordered. It's been a little while since I've been to SOA, but the last time was at the peak of the pandemic. Unfortunately, while the food remains quite good, their COVID-19 measures have waned a bit. The chefs we're not wearing masks while they were cooking or serving the food. The only people that were wearing masks were the first two people that we saw: the woman at the register and the woman prepping to-go orders in their bags. Last time, we ate up on the veranda outside. This time, we opted to sit outside at one of the downstairs tables near the street. Whilst cleanliness didn't seem to be a problem, there were about 10 bee-sized, red-eyed, flies. I'm not sure from whence they came, but they sure wouldn't leave our food alone. That said, the food was good again- served stylishly and appetizingly. However, the dish I want to mention this go around, is the Bulgogi Beef Empanada, prepared in the shop on the top floor. WOW! I'm so happy to find poke burri and lifting noodles at yet another awesome location in Parsons alley across from Noona and maple street biscuit. Sweet octopus is a two story cafeteria style eatery that is composed of poke burri, lifting noodles ramen, yuwachit's thai, and empanada house. It's spacious design feels fresh and open while accommodating a lot of hungry people! I was happy to see that most of my menu staples from the original poke burri and lifting noodles ramen in east atlanta were kept and they added some new things too! We got the miso ramen $11 and the super poke bowl $15 to share. They did not disappoint! The miso ramen was light and creamy. I wish it had just a little more noodle serving in it but overall, it's always been one of my favorite ramen spots (If you like spicy my favorite is angry zuko). The super poke bowl is great if you want a little bit of every kind of fish. We ventured upstairs and tried the pork belly empanada ($4) which was a fresh and flaky treat to share and a decent size. It came with guava bbq sauce which was fragrant and refreshing. I honestly enjoyed it all and I know I want to try the thai next time. The place was packed but we got seating while waiting for our order within 5 minutes. Our food came out in about 20 minutes. This was late on a sunday afternoon. For our table we ordered the sushi burrito, angry zuko ramen, classic ramen, guava empanada, and pear empanada. I loooved the flavor of my angry zuko ramen! I do wish it was hot instead of just warm as I just like all noodle soups hot. The spice and flavor made up for it all though. I would definitely order it again. My kids split and ate the classic ramen so no complaints and I was a very happy mama! My son even asked for us to come back before he finished his meal! The sushi burrito was decent, but doesn't quite compare to the one at boruboru sushi near Emory. It had great taste, but it was pretty chewy. It was hard to get a clean bite off without looking like a puppy with a chew toy. With that said, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to someone to try for the experience. The tuna and salmon tasted fresh, the veggies were perfect and the sauces were the perfect added touch to the overall dish. This was definitely a must have. I think this is the priciest poke bowl but I think that's bc it had all of the different proteins. It's kind of small but can be filling. Pro tip: order extra pickled ginger! It cuts through the richness. We also ordered the chicken ramen. This was really flavorful as well. Nice light creamy broth, veggies are all fresh, the chicken was good but I would have wanted a little more and my favorite is the marinated soft-boiled egg. Staff all wore masks. There is indoor and outdoor seating available. Indoor there is an downstairs and upstairs. Upstairs primarily serves drinks. We had a to go order since we wanted to enjoy the weather and eat in the park. Thai fried rice: it was just average, bordering on the lacking flavor side. Wouldn't recommend. Shrimp roll: nice crisp and good flavor. Definitely eat it while it's still warm! Demogorgon Burrito Roll: very flavored and slightly spicy. All the ingredients taste very fresh. Be prepared to take big bites! Beef empanadas: it's a no go for me. Did not like the flavor. Only took 2 bites, wouldn't recommend. Thai tea (no picture): tasted like a Thai tea, would recommend! Came here for lunch one day and really enjoyed it! I ordered the Spicy Zuko ramen and my mom ordered the Spicy Seafood ramen. They have a pretty expansive menu that includes everything from ramen to poke to Thai food to empanadas (usually, this range would make me suspicious, but everything looked creative and fusion-y and pretty delicious). There's plenty of outdoor seating, and the ambiance and decor are really lovely: it's situated right in downtown Duluth, too, so it's a great area to walk around afterwards. The second time we came, we came an hour earlier because we wanted to eat outside but upon arrival, the cashier told us that they were closed and did togo only. But... we had a whole hour. Anyways, I would have given them 3 stars but when we called the owner asked us where we lived because he would have delivered it personally himself! That's EXCELLENT customer service right there which warranted the 2 extra stars. Of course we didn't make him deliver it so we just went back the next day to get our correct order.
