Cute little local place that had a couple of teenagers behind the counter along with the manager. I'm sure they get asked about what a dozen flavors are by each person who comes in, but the manager was incredibly friendly and explained each of our choices. We ended up with the phantom berry (I will likely get this next time) and the blueberry pie. After ordering he offered a taste of it first but it just confirmed my order. He even offered a cone to go with our scoops - which were an entire cup worth on their own. As good an ice cream place as I've found ... I feel bad because the person I was with has a chocolate allergy and could not have anything because they use the same scoop to scoop multiple flavors. Many places will wash the scoop after each time it is dipped into a different flavor ... but at least they were honest. The cake batter ice cream is the best version of this flavor I have tasted. I also had the butter pecan, which was buttery and sugary. Lots of pecan pieces in it. I tend to stay away from the chocolate flavors because I often travel with someone who has a chocolate allergy. Most of the flavors are chocolate based and wow ... they look good! If ever I find myself here on my own, you better believe I am going chocolate crazy! The scoopers are nice enough but are pretty much high school and college kids who are a bit spacey ... don't expect special requests to be met. The line is often long but its worth the wait ... this is a small place where you pretty much take it and walk with it. Average cone is $5 but the butter-fat content of the ice cream is pretty high, which makes it worth the prices. This isn't your average ho-hum tourist ice cream shop. Great little ice cream shop. Its pretty cramped in the store and there are no tables to eat inside but there are a couple benches outside and around the town. The flavors were a bit limited but thats because I came at the beginning of the season. The employee said more flavors were coming as the season progresses. Got the Maine Black Bear flavor and it was delicious. It tasted a bit like black raspberry but the flavor was more subtle and the color was pink. Overall i really enjoyed the ice cream. This place had the best cookie dough ice cream of my life. Every aspect was perfect, the vanilla base was the best I have ever tasted, very creamy and rich, not too sweet. Went here to grab a scoop of ice cream on a warm night after dinner. Apparently this place is pretty popular as we were greeted with a line of about 20 people out the door. Needless to say, we were craving ice cream so we waited. Once we got to the front we decided to try the birthday cake and a chocolate mint flavor--both were delicious so we decided to get one scoop of each and topped that with whipped cream. As our server was scooping our ice cream, I couldn't believe how much she was packing in there--it was probably three times more ice cream than I was expecting! Even more shocking, when she rung us up, it still came in under $6--quite a steal if you ask me! While we were very full from dinner, we had no problem putting this ice cream away as it was so delicious. The ice cream is good, but the process/experience is lacking for this area. It's a small narrow room and your filtered like cattle through it. The girl who took our order barley spoke English and seemed aggravated that she had to serve us. When she handed us the ice cream she had this look of "here, now leave", which didn't sit well with me. The only reason I can't give four stars is because of the experience. They seemed unorganized and it felt like they just wanted you in and out. My wife wasn't sure what she wanted and the girl just starred at her with an angry look, until she ordered. I could understand if there was a line out the door, but there wasn't. It was my wife and I, with a couple in front of us who were being helped. This is a great little place. We always come here when we're in Ogunquit. This year, they were pretty slow; not sure if they were understaffed or it was because of precautions. The ice cream's worth it, though. I got mint patty this time, which is apparently frozen yogurt, but I would never have noticed that.
